In relation to the magazine article, I have not been able to find the full article online, however, I have found an extract of it, posted on one of the "Justice seekers - Jill Meagher" pages back in November. For those who wish to find and read the extract, I will type some key words below in white that if you Google should give you a result. Highlight below and you should be able to see.

WARNING THIS CONTENT COULD BE FOUND DISTRESSING.

He*would pick up prostitutes in his car and pretend to negotiate a price then take them to a deserted alleyway where he terrorised

Thanks Blessed, nothing comes up for me with those key words. Your post is the only thing that google shows.

Thankyou, I cannot find anything though?

Just start at the word would through to the end...wrap it all in double quotes. I found it this morning with no problems.

Copy and paste the white words into google with quotation marks around it and click on the result that is a facebook page and you'll find what was said.

It's just horrifying what this man was allowed back on the streets to do to innocent women. Some people can not be reformed, they just have something in them which enjoys inflicting suffering on others. I wish world governments would fund more research into criminal psychology and understand how we can and should deal with these people to better our society and protect the innocent. What we have just doesn't work for this type of criminal.

Ah I didn't use the quotation marks. He is a truly disgusting person. I fully agree Gia, he cannot be reformed it's something he enjoys doing

We need tougher penalties for rapists, I cannot see why he didn't get life for these rapes, he could have legally, it should have happened.

Torture should be enough to put someone away for the term of their natural life.

Oh my, I wish I hadn't read that now. Very distressing. I feel even more strongly that the details of his attack on Jill should be kept private.

That was the part I remember reading. Vile disgusting creature.

I have the feeling it was the fact that his victims were prostitutes had something to do with why he was not jailed for longer. Isn't the system just lovely!

My thoughts exactly. . His sentence was completely unjust for his actions!

He will never see the light of day. However the victimology for his earlier crimes meant there was little public attention or outrage over these crimes. How many times do we need to learn this lesson. The next time someone emerges like this can we trust the authorities to put him away for good the first time?

No because our legal system is an absolute joke. I have a friend who was recently sentenced to 4 years for stealing a large amount of money from his employer, around 500k. 4 years for that and a 16x (that we know of) rapist gets 8.

The entire process needs a giant overhaul, it's pathetic and insulting to victims and their loved ones.

Getting back to the case; I know the jury can't take his priors into consideration as they're not meant to know but the judge can with sentencing can't he/she? My legal knowledge is very rusty!

^ Agreed. A friend was telling me that someone she knew was murdered. The murderer was out on bail. He just breached his bail and what do you think happened to him? Nothing!

I hope the jury hears the details that they want to keep out of the media in regards to what happened to Jill that night so they can make a decision based on ALL the facts and he never walks the streets again. At least we know the judge will know all for sentencing. <modsnip>
