Karen Gilbody and Valerie Howell were both reported missing in early July 1991. Ms Gilbody, then aged 29, was last seen by her boyfriend on July 2, 1991, at their home on Avoca St in Yagoona. On July 3 Ms Howell, then aged 41, left her Belmore home to travel to Ms Gilbodys address. Neither woman has been seen or heard from since.
Detectives from Campsie LAC previously held the opinion witnesses may have been reluctant to come forward due to possible links the missing women had with a New Zealand-based bikie gang.
