I don't think they were those sort of friends. They were not in contact from high school until their daughters danced together. At the time Karen disappeared she had not seen her in 6 weeks, this included the period of 21st birthday party. I dare say they had a lot of affection for each other but I don't think they were in close contact. We all have this sort of long term friend who isn't in our daily lives but a bond remains. I think Ms Hili just had a guess and it makes sense for Borce to give Karen a reason for taking off.

Sharryn first met Karen more than 20 years ago as schoolgirls at Deer Park high school in Victoria. Like many friends, they had lost contact after school but had reconnected a number of years ago when they realised their daughters went to the same dance school.
They made plans to meet up for catch up dinners and started going to school reunions together. A photo of Karen smiling alongside her friend was one of the last to appear on the missing woman’s Facebook page.

It was at one of their regular dinners in June last year that the pair would have their final meeting. As she recalls, nothing appeared out of the ordinary, nothing she could "pick up on".
"We caught up for dinner not long after Sarah's 21st. We just really spoke about the party and how everything was going.

Yes, I believe that recently they were closer than occasional friends, with Ms Hili immediately responding in important ways to Karen’s disappearance.
I have old school friends that I had not seen in many years, but who I now meet with fairly regularly - and speak with more often - and who know much about my current life.

… she immediately called Sarah …

Ms Hili said her next stop was at Ristevski's boutique, but she could find no sign of her there either.

So she called Borce, Ristevski's husband, to ask whether the couple had a 'tiff' the previous evening.
'I said she's probably just cooling off somewhere, she'll be back tonight or tomorrow.'

Ms Hili, who is raising money for Sarah in a ******** page ….

Ms Hili said Ms Ristevski never had much time to herself - between running her boutique fashion business that often took her overseas and being a mother to a 21-year-old woman, Sarah Ristevski.

'I was telling her about this friend that was diagnosed with cancer,' recalled friend Sharryn Hili, who has known her since Year 7. 'She hadn't seen her for over 25 years. 'But she private messaged her and said to her, look, I hear you're going through a really bad time, come into the store and pick out a dress of your choice to make you feel better.'

But she would let her hair down at the Crown Casino, recently seeing the 80s tribute show Stand and Deliver.
'She was right into all that music. We just danced all her little feet off'.

And I still wonder who it was (Ms Hili?) that Karen was speaking with - in person? on the phone? - when Ant overheard this conversation.
Why did the conversation happen? What spurred Karen to tell someone that she was leaving Borce.

Mr Ristevski also dismissed claims by his estranged son Anthony Rickard, a confessed ice user, that he had overheard Mrs Ristevski saying she would leave Borce when their daughter Sarah turned 21.

"I've never heard her say a bad word against Borce at all. I never even got that. I'd met him a few times and it was always nice and polite. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary."
KR's friend (Sharryn Hili) also stated the above which makes me more inclined to believe her and KR shared a bond, definitely, they were friends, close friends who had a mutual respect for one another and were able to pick up where they left off regardless of how much time went by without having any contact. It doesn't necessarily mean they knew each others most inner thoughts or that they shared those thoughts with one another. MOO

BBM: ... or that Ms Hili shared her inner thoughts and possible knowledge with the media, during an active and ongoing police investigation.

I wonder if police have enough to charge Borce with interference with a corpse.

Like if they have neighbourhood cctv of her going home..... by his own admission she was home. Then no evidence of her having ever left the house ..... well certainly not by foot.

Her phone pings, his phone pings .... cctv of the car @Diggers .... witness id merc 1.5km from bush grave ...

Maybe they don't know for sure what happened in the house. ..... but interference with a corpse could get him two years behind bars ...... more than enough time to gather further evidence against him .....

Then charge with murder later on ..... ???

Ahh m sure they would have if they could ....Mmm just typing...thinking out loud.

Karen listed as “R” in A-Z of VIC cold case files…..

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/cold-case-files-biggest-unsolved-crimes-in-victorias-history/news-story/4db33eb40ba7189e39769489333bcd74

Someone really needs to step up to the plate and tell thepolice what really happened.

Surely this must be eating at their insides – or are they soself absorbed and smug knowing that they have pulled the wool over everyone’seyes and seem to have gotten away with it?.......IMOO

Why is it taking so long? :waiting:
Borce version of events is that he was the last to see Karen when she walked from the house at 10:00am on the 29th.
Do the police have cctv evidence of any other person entering the street, the house on the 28th or 29th but no evidence of them leaving?
Who do the police say is responsible for the murder, if one, two, even three people have been captured entering the street and home but not snapped leaving?
Difficult to join the dots behind those closed doors - when lips are zipped.
imo

Police were told initially told that Borce was home all day.

Sarah, now 22, was present at the family home earlier in the morning before leaving, police have been told.

During an interview last July, Mr Ristevski told police his wife walked out of their Avondale Heights home on June 29 after an argument. Sarah, their only child, was the last person to see Mrs Ristevski before that row.

Watching 'Forensics' on channel 1 over the last few weeks (excellent show btw) both cases I've seen used CCTV, phone records and phone pings to build up the case against the offender however the cases weren't solely based on them. It's remarkable how similar these cases were to this case.

I have a sad feeling that this will end up being a cold case because they have the very best high profile criminal defence lawyer Rob Stary and his team acting on their behalf.

The results of Karen's autopsy and cause of death have never been published to my knowledge.

You would think that LE would have sufficient evidence to lay charges.

I really don't know what to think about this case anymore, as BR has told so many untruths. How can we believe anything he says. A very sad outcome so far...MOO

Yes, it is a sad outcome so far. That a murderer is walking around free, while Karen's hopes and dreams and breath have been taken away.

But I am a strong believer that the police will not let a case like this go. With the right evidence and the right prosecutor, they will get the murderer into court to face his crime.

And karma is a strong force. There is no way this murderer will have peace or a good life, due to the horrific nature of his crime.

I was very close to the Daniel Morcombe case and saw first hand the prolonged pain and suffering due to incompetent police handling of Daniel's murder case and the mistakes they made from the very beginning.

It is my strong belief that had Bruce and Denise Morcombe and their amazing lawyer not persisted in pushing the police every step of the way, Daniel would never have been found to this day.

Denise said they would never give up until they found Daniel and after many many years of heartache, pain and suffering, they did eventually find Daniel. My heart goes out to them.

Unfortunately it does appear that Karen's family are not doing for her, what Daniel's family did for him.

I'm afraid I don't have much confidence in the police force any more when you also consider the case of our beautiful little William Tyrrell as well...Still ongoing after all these years.

Why is it taking so long for both Karen and William for justice to prevail, with all the latest technology they have at their fingertips...Disgraceful !!!...MOO

I agree, I have faith: our LE will get the job done.

Was just watching To catch a killer Jim van Allen profiler stated:

'A stranger would not move that body, (situation where death likely occurred in the residence) they would have no need to move that body. The offender, would chose to move that body because they fear that they could be associated to either the victim or the location that the crime happened '

Just an interesting on point confirmation and something to hopefully deflect away from the despair of this matter chillin out. As always imo

I want to know why Karen's brother has been so quiet?
I know we never heard anything at all on Karen's one year anniversary from Borce's side, but we also didn't hear anything from her brother either. Anything like "we're not going to give up Karen",

Are his regular visits to the Ristevskis still occurring? To see Sarah? He knew from very early on that she was never coming home . Did he have Borce as his suspect as well. He has told us he was close to Borce , they had worked together for 10yrs, and he regularly visited the family (every two weeks?)

"He said the confirmation that Karen had been found, after eight months, had brought "a little bit of relief, an end to what everyone was unfortunately thinking".
He also said: "It just closes one chapter, and for better or for worse, there's a whole lot of other chapters that are now opening up, and hopefully things will move forward quite rapidly." https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp...ly-horrific-eight-months-20170222-guj1cb.html

What are all the other chapters that he is talking about ?
