Hi UT! Do you remember if em mentioned where the lady saw Karen that morning? On Oakley or elsewhere in their neighbourhood?
Hi Bo. No, I don't recall emirates mentioning any specific area/street. I don't think she knows and it's more than likely one of the questions she'd like to ask the lady that claims to have seen KR out walking that morning IF she ever contacts Emirates. All we know is that the lady apparently, lives on the same street as Karen. Emirates did mention the lady did report the sighting to the police at the time Karen went missing but the police didn't appear to be very interested at the time. Maybe that has changed, especially after the latest news re Peerless Court...they may have taken the sighting more seriously and perhaps that's one of the reasons she hasn't contacted Emirates. (She's been advised not to talk to anyone). Who knows!

Just looking at Peerless, it would be a huge risk to park Karen's distinctive car at the end of the court and somehow entice Karen into the car.
Also, I've been unable to find a street view without cars obscuring the grassed area in front of the walkway.
In the satellite view, the two rectangles seem rather large in comparison to the other stormwater drains outside number 9 and 24.

Em, wish we knew on which street your daughter's client may have seen Karen that morning. Rhetorical musing on my part as we can't intrude on either your daughter's or her client's confidentiality...

Same OZ, the only info passed on was her first name and that she saw Karen that morning and was passed onto LE.

I don't know how useful this data is but I appreciate you finding it for me, Jen. I never know when I collect information just how useful it will be in the end, if at all. I simply have to wait for it to work it's way through my subconscious.

It is useful from the standpoint that as I'm not a local, at the very least it gives me an idea of who would likely be at home at certain times of the day and form an opinion about the likelihood of Karen disappearing from Peerless.

That's what I thought initially too, Jen, and even more so that we have the info from mella, em and the demographics. It seems really unlikely that the route taken by Karen on foot and/or the driver of Karen's car was from Oakley via Peerless to Mount Macedon. Channeling Little Britain, 'Computer says no.' *coughs*

Could the reason the two rectangles seem larger than the other drains be because the sump is located there? Richie will be able to answer that one, no doubt.

Thanks UT. em has posted again above.

Yep there could be any number of reasons why em hasn't heard anything further.

Tricia is still accepting donations for WS. Now critical.

We would really miss WS if it had to be closed due to financial issues to keep the website operating.

More thoughts..

I think they have cctv of BR driving out of oakley dr alone. If they do have any sightings if KR walking that day i wonder if they are trying to prove she walked home first before he left on his drive. Maybe they have some footage where its a smidge of a glipse of her walking and an reenactment would help with the timeline etc.

Maybe she left the house at 10am walked out like BR says. Are their any benches along the path? She might have sat down for a minute and maybe even made a phone call while calming down. Then decides to go back home. BR might have planned how he was going to kill her while she was out for that little walk. Could explain lack of physical evidence (if that is the case). Then into the boot she goes and he drives off at 10.30am.

Does KR smoke? Were they looking for cigarettes butts maybe?

I feel like police know she was alive up until 10am as its never been suggested otherwise - even though BR was well within their sights almost straight away. If she made a phone call to a friend and said "br is annoying me I've gone for a walk" that could play in BRs favour. Maybe the cctv he was asking neighbours for was at the front of their houses showing KR returning home

More spontaneous madness ..... what if KRs car was moved to that position at the end of Peerless Court the night before [emoji848] in preparation

What if he took her body out the back gate? Is it able to be seen by other houses?

The only reason I can think of for that is if he planned to prove that he didn't remove her by car. In which case he would (or ought to) have been very careful that no cars left his residence around the suspect time.

Thanks Rich. I was hoping you'd chime in.

Any idea about how long it would take to visually inspect the drains and sump in one particular (and quite limited) area? Two weeks seems a long time to me. Maybe there was some digging involved?

__________

[OT: Deja vu Rich. Didn't we have a massive discussion about drains in relation to an unrelated unsolved case? That took almost as long as the time for the film-making on location in Peerless.]

Yes two weeks sounds more like a film production. A stormwater inspection wouldn't take long, even for several streets, but if something was discovered then I assume a longer forensics presence is required.

Deja vu Mr Magoo.

Thanks Rich. My thoughts exactly. I doubt if police would be spending two weeks filming one scene comprising of an actor playing Karen, carrying an expensive Coach handbag, walking through Peerless either. [if so, I wonder who they cast as her dog-walking Italian Mafia boyfriend? Vince Colosimo, perhaps? Or maybe their leading man was a relative unknown imported from Skopje? :D ]

Can I pick your brain for an answer to this question too please?

I've taken a look at the contour map for this area. This particularly spot is the lowest point for southern draining streets (northern draining streets would flow to big drain easement through Browning Cres). Downslope dead-end streets have twin concrete drain covers above the kerb (on the nature strip). Twin openings caters for extra flood water that pools in the dead-end. The difference with Peerless Ct is that is also has two grates on the road. I assume this is because there is a major stormwater junction here (possibly receiving Oakley drains), so addition pits or pipe diameter increases occur here, therefore additional maintenance access requirements. If there is a sump pit for pollutants, this would be the ideal spot before water discharges to Milleara Drain.

Also check out Googly Maps laneway. Looks like another grate at the other end of the walkway. Everything may connect around here so good place to explore the underworld.

Watch out for clowns though.
