What happened to Karen Ristevski? Person of interest in mum's disappearance 'goes silent' - as police search area around family home for evidence one month after she vanished

Another one:

About a month after her disappearance, Ms Ristevski’s husband was shocked by a reporter who interrogated him about his missing wife.
The Channel 7 reporter boldly asked if he killed his wife.

I've read so many articles with different versions, it's not funny!! It drives me insane!!! :gaah:

SouthAussie, I'm not sure BR has stopped cooperating with Police/Investigators altogether. He may be cooperating albeit through his lawyer. Not quite the same as sitting down and cooperating with them under the watchful eye of his lawyer, but cooperating nonetheless. Wasn't there an article not so long ago where BR's lawyer stated that they are still assisting the Police with the investigation? I'll have to go search for that article so don't quote me, I may have misread it! MOO

Happy that you are searching for the article, and not me. :D Sometimes it is tough finding those older articles, even when we know they are there .... somewhere.

I think his lawyer said he is fulfilling his obligations (if my memory serves me correctly). Not sure that is the same as cooperating. He has a right to remain silent :pullhair: and it seems his lawyer is helping him to exert that right.

In my opinion, the police may be sending the lawyer written questions, and the lawyer may be responding with written non-answers. Perhaps.

So is this all correct?
Detectives visited the mechanic last Friday (8th) although he did not want to get too involved he answered a couple of questions the police asked about the car.
A few weeks earlier Borce had popped in with the volkswagon for an engine top up and bulb change.
During their chat Borce let the mechanic know the police still had the merc the one that has been all over the news .......... but they did not discuss that dreaded broken fuel gauge that Borce had asked him about years before........hmmm
Told him about his new occupation and off he trotted .....

Surely the merc had been serviced in the last 2 or 3 years......seems...... Mr Yusuf relies on his memory...(or Borces)
Where as the auto electrician had no record of service

Don't mechanics stamp the service book or would a 2004 model be too old?

What about those little reminder tags they put on the windscreen.
My car tells me the next service in blah blah kilometres.

Surely even a bush mechanic has a diary for upcoming services because he'd need to order parts.

The channel 7 reporter asked the question on the 14th July at the snap media appeal. Borce did not speak ........... aunt P did. That is just over 2 weeks. (16 days)

Is this the article?

August 27 2016
The Weekend Australian can reveal that Mr Ristevski — the last person to see her alive — has hired law firm Stary Norton Halphen, headed by one of Melbourne’s top criminal defence lawyers, Rob Stary, to represent him. Mr Ristevski’s solicitor, Katarina Ljubicic, said yesterday her client gave two long statements to police soon after Mrs Ristevski went missing on June 29, the second of which was to answer questions raised by police following their initial investigations.

Sources familiar with the police investigation said detectives had asked Mr Ristevski about his movements on the day, including where he drove and what he did.

“He’s not been asked to make another statement and he’s fully co-operated with police,” Ms Ljubicic said.

She declined to comment on Mr Ristevski’s work driving for Uber or the content of his statements.

Yes, it was about a month until we heard about it, so it likely happened a bit sooner than that. Somewhere after his police interview and prior to the staging of the mannequin representing Karen, the information van, the leaflets, the fliers.

While it may be okay to speak with a lawyer, I cannot understand why he 'stopped cooperating'. Surely a person would just take their lawyer along with them, and continue to answer police questions. Assist them.
But I guess we all know why he's not assisting
.

One month on and a mannequin wearing a brown wig, a handbag and Karen Ristevski's clothes forms part of an increasingly desperate police search for the missing mother.
Detective Inspector Dennis declined to confirm reports that a person of interest had stopped co-operating with police.
He would not say if that person was Ms Ristevski's husband Borce.

It appears when Borce is asked confronting questions he chooses to chuck a little hissy. Like when he was asked 'that question' by the reporter.

Yes the little reminder tag ...

A duplicate invoice? Record it in the computer?

My mechanic can tell me what he did and when, with the click of a button.

They'd have keep records to know if the doover-thingy and the oil filter was changed in last service.

Pink-slips/road worthy certificates....I doubt that would stop the car passing rego.

Yeah maybe .... :D

Borce Ristevski was seething when The Australian visited his home on a chilly evening in August last year. “What the f..k do you want?” he asked, his anger deepening when he learned which publication we represented.

“Let me tell you something: you can’t even get facts right,” he said, before slamming the gate of his home.

Haha yes and then within minutes he walked over to the journos to tell them he had no financial problems.

Good Ol Borce he's forever the entertainer. We'll miss his shenanigans when he's incarcerated.
NOT.

Also another point, if there was a faulty fuel gauge , as if Karen would not want to get it fixed. Would she risk being left stranded in the middle of nowhere because of incorrect fuel readings . I'm sure Karen dud lots of solo driving. From what I can tell, she attended lots of events on her own without BR, be it to girly nights out, looks like she had very close friends in swan hill or around there, in sure there would have been driving done there . Really would she not have fixed a faulty fuel gauge if she was doing this type of driving.
Wouldn't her loving husband have got it sorted for her own safety.

Btw: I wouldn't have thought that a Macedonian-Australian business man with NO money problems would have tolerated that his wife drives a more fancy car than he himself.

We are now at day 444 of the unsolved disappearance of KR and I have to admit I have absolutely no idea who did it ....... no idea at all ...... been following this thread from the start ..... still too many suspects for me to be confident of anyone's guilt of the actual crime .... got a showbag full of those I reckon have guilty knowledge though [emoji848] ...... can't even work out who's driving car on Calder, may even be a woman as Puggle pointed out .... if KR was driving then someone would have to bring the car back, hence BR on the Calder .... so confused, I need some more clues ....
PS: Come on Scottish lady, we're nearly there, 454 .... do it for the Scots, make 'em proud [emoji847]

Right from the beginning, I felt it was unusual and very rude for that CH7 reporter to ask Borce straight out at the beginning of that interview "Did you kill your wife?" ...and that could be part of the reason that he decided there and then to not co-operate with the police and the media.

I'm not defending him in any way but I feel it was in very poor taste.

I really don't know what to think about this case anymore and also wonder...will there ever be any arrests for Karen's death... MOO

it could be the other way round... Borce isn't co-operating with the police so the police do the thing that is well documented and regarded as a very workable strategy.. . anytime the wife goes missing, get the husband to make a public appeal..... let the news reporters ask the question the coppers don't want to ask at this point in time, it is often a real eyeopener.... look at Joe Korp's appeal for Mariah to 'come home'... he knew she was slowly dying in the boot of her car...... look at John Sharpe.. . he knew he had speargunned his wife and baby daughter to death and hurled them on the rubbish tip... 'just ring home, Anna'.....

Their public appeals, much like Borce's , were an exercise in reading body language and voice.......Borce certainly didn't pass any tests, .... Sarah... a bit iffy..... it often requires real rudeness to break thru the shell of enormous arrogance and entitlement.....I bet that reporter got a nice break in the next case from the police.....he did rather well!!!!!

If I recall correctly, BR stopped co-operating with police approximately a month after KR's disappearance--so the end of July early August he would have lawyered up, I think! I might be wrong! I'll have to go do some research :gaah:

I think it was longer than 2 weeks, Prime. I'm thinking a month. IF KR had been missing for a month, that's along time. No contact for a month and you've people voicing their suspicions that he has something to do with her disappearance and may have murdered her, well.... time to lawyer up alright! MOO

The incident with the ch 7 reporter was the 16th day Karen had been missing, 14 July, 2016, but Borce already had his lawyer for his July 8 police interview.
Borce was prepared for the worst, he said Karen was taken by a stranger so she must be dead? Such a drastic conclusion for someone who's such an optimist, his businesses are thriving, very much alive but when it comes to his wife, she was dead, even though there wasn't a body.
This will all make sense very soon.

I get what you are saying tiddies,
Reading about Laura Wallen's murder by her B/F.
LE and Laura's parents all knew he killed her but had to sit, hold B/F's hand during the media appeal because that was LE's request not to pressure the murderer. Don't let him know we suspect him.

Like Karen's aunt Patricia who might 'know' who did it but still did her duty, for Karen & LE not to razzle BR but for the rogue reporter.

Only now I understand Patricia's desperation saying 'this is inappropriate' and 'this is about Karen'.

I will admit that Borcey's response was GOLD but Sarah's was better still!! :D
It spoke volumes.

Ol' Borceyboy loves to entertain, he's the center of attention wherever he goes.
Haha he's such a clown.
