Today's Herald Sun states."Police set up a search zone. Massive resources, including a cadaver dog, flown from interstate. They find items relating to the disappearance but won't comment on what they are".......it appears to be found in Toolern Vale. The paper also mentioned the family were asked not to plead for Karen's return as "Police instructed the family not to talk to the media. "Otherwise we will keep getting information and can't go through it all". Maybe they had everything they needed.

http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/site_proximity.main_page

So I found this website which has a lot of information, most of which is double dutch to me.

If some one on here is more familiar with phone masts / tower lingo, by hovering over the dots on the map we are given the information as to what is loacted there, where is says for example, 'Telstra site', would this be where a mast is located?

I am agreeing with you.
Pardon me harping on about Baden-Clay but there are many similarities.

I believe Baden-Clay acted alone with the murder of Allison but his parents and sister protected and, I believe his family cleaned the site. They knew and even lied under oath.

I believe also BR acted alone but also had a protector after the fact.

The difference is, Baden-Clay wanted us to believe Allison walked 14klm and swan-dived of a bridge to her death. That was a possibility but Allison left scratches down his face. Bingo!

Whereas I know it's highly impossible Karen walked 50+ Klm lay down in a dark Masadonian forest, covered herself up with large logs and died. Bingo!
I agree with you TGY...We expected to see GBC's parents or sister charged as accessories...it didn't happen...they protected him and cleaned up his mess...the scratches Allison left on GBC's face was an early indication to the police that he was responsible for her death.

Maybe Borce acted alone in Karen's death but Sarah may have witnessed the incident and is acting as protector for her father after the fact...the reason she has clammed up and not speaking to the police...what a horrible situation for her...thank goodness she has a boyfriend for support (outside the family)...MOO

Unbeknown to many, however, is that even if a phone is turned off, it runs a hidden operating system that is always turned on.
The system constantly sends pings to phone towers and is always searching for the closest or strongest signal.

Just to explain the above ... if anyone is interested lol.

When you turn a phone off, several things can happen:

1) The UI, the screen, goes blank, the radio systems are turned off and the phone does not respond to any external input, physical or electronic, except for the power button. However it will continue to run the operating system and other "registered" services and turn on as required for example to ring an alarm.

2) The phone terminates the main operating system, running programs, powers down the screen and the radio systems are turned off. The processor is still running a lower level system which for example monitors the power button to know when to switch the phone back on or even auto power up at a designated time.

3) The phone completely powers down with no CPU activity. (so, no pings)

Which one occurs depends on your phone manufacturer and the hardware & software they have implemented. In case 1 & 2 programs continue to run and a tracking software could turn the radio systems back on to allow live tracking.

Thanks for the info, emirates!
A bit in conflict with what the police told Herald Sun earlier ... that they never tell people not to talk to the media.

Just on this, IF it is a thing that Sarah is aware, I will be mind blown. As much as I love my father, if he ever carried out such an act I would be finished with him.

Note - I keep comparing this case to ''if i were in their shoes...'' as it is all I have to go on, I can only compare to what I think I would do in such suituation.

sydney1, are you aware of the claims that AR has made on facebook? I think that would definitely change the situation enormously. This situation is not straightforward. Passions have been running high in this family over a couple of matters. I'm not saying that they've been 'resolved' correctly, but things might have happened as a result of some other things. This is just very tragic.

Oh yeah, so in my first post I outlined what I thought of AR and his public fb posts. I really do not believe a word of what he has to say, I think he is irrelevant and it drives him insane. I believe he got the hump that daddy made a new family and his extreme accusations stem from this jealousy, mixed with drug use and possible mental disorders, a toxic mix - I disregard everything he says.

The rumor of him and the step mother has been around for years I don't know if it's true but I heard it about 15 years ago

You hung around with him years ago if I remember correctly from previous posts?

Obviously this is all my opinion and conclusions based on my perspective of the information, I imagine that he is an attention seeker and came up with the whole thing himself - prior to his drug use, do you get the impression he had underlying issues (I want to say underlying mental health issues, but we are not doctors and do not know the details so we cannot go around diagnosing people) but you get my drift? Maybe in more fairer terms, was he an odd individual?!

If someone was in an area without mobile phone coverage, would "data suggest" that his phone was turned off?

Big Brother, your every move is being documented by the elites, hollywood conspiracy sense of pinging. If that's true it makes you look at your technology differently, it's definitely not inert like a rock or as simple as on or off.

I don't know about this stuff. sorry.

Only need to look at a recent itemised Telstra Phone Bill to confirm that.

I don't use much mobile data, rarely browse on my phone, but last weeks bill contains 135 meg of mobile data usage. Accompanied with an entire page listing the time & date, the size of the data packets & their tower of origin.

It's just a standard itemised account.

After trips away, there can be 20+ pages of data packet listing, all of little interest to me.

Seems pretty clear from Police statements, that it is done and dusted that the murder is a family occurrence.. . not to be confused with that awful misleading label , domestic violence.. merely that Karen was murdered and someone in that family murdered her.. there are no bushy haired strangers, no travelling drifters, no mysterious mafia like entities.........

it is either, or all....Borce, Anthony, Vasco, Chris.. ... and it is worth it for the Vic Police to give all of them the appearance of a long leash, although this leash doesn't appear to stretch anywhere outside Melbourne, or even outside the north western suburbs, that qualifies as a bit of a tight leash, really.

I'd like to see what happens if any one of them attempts a sudden dash outside these vague boundaries, the extent of which is known to the Vic Police in it's exact parameters, .. I doubt if the four of them would be privy to just how far they can go until they actually try it out...

And it isn't improbable that one, or two of them will make a wild and disorganised sprint... . they will plan it, but the result will be chaotic. .. this scrutiny must be intolerable to people used to telling others where they can go and what they an do...

As stated already, I definitely agree that it's more likely that any foul play at the Ristevski residence happened at night.

That said, whilst human witnesses may be less likely and less accurate in the dark, CCTV cameras near the Ristevski home have no such disadvantage at night. Most see quite well at night, and those that don't will still have faithfully recorded any comings or goings of any relevant vehicles. So the police should be well aware of any trips taken using any relevant vehicles that started from the Ristevski home.

Whilst I readily accept the possibility that Karen met her end on the 28th of June, I think it's quite likely the disposal of her body happened the next day. That ties in nicely with the drive Borce took in Karen's car, that he just happened to forget until confronted with phone ping data. Once confronted, he explained it away by saying it was to address a fuel gauge problem, a claim that has been thoroughly debunked. Early reports of the fuel gauge claim said Borce claimed to be taking the car to a mechanic to get it looked at, I wonder if he can prove that he was booked in with a mechanic that day?

What interests and confuses me is that if Borce's phone pinged on the Calder at night on the 29th & it was being confronted with the phone ping evidence that triggered his memory of driving Karen's car between about 10am & 12:30pm, then perhaps his phone was detected out that way twice? Once in Karen's car during the morning of the 29th & again at night the same day, perhaps on another vehicle? There is also the 2 hour period that day where his phone was switched off, but I've seen no indication of what time that happened.

Another pointer in my mind towards the disposal operation happening on the 29th, as opposed to the night before is Karen's phone pinging out towards where she was found on the 29th.

I've always felt the disposal of the body and then bag and phone were separate events. The phone and handbag were needed to validate the story of her leaving the house and this was missed the night before.

20+ pages? I think it's safe to say you're being well and truly monitored, Phil. LOL
and that's just what they told you about haha

Hard question to answer. Mobile signal would drop ... so no pings. GPS could still work if there is a clear line of sight to the sky. GPS provides location services and some other apps.

If location services are turned off on the mobile phone (I never have mine on, but many people do .... would Borce have his turned on if he was where he wanted no-one to know? It is simple to turn off, select an option in Settings) and no other apps are using GPS ... like runners apps, other sporting-type things ... then the phone could well appear to be off.

You don't typically have sporting-type apps on your phone unless you install them because you want to use them

I am pretty sure that when that tracker 'fell off' Borce's car, the Vic Police had another one immediately attached, ... without making a fuss or faff... which has been happily tracking Borce all this time, Borce thinking he is off the leash. ...

It would be very very unusual if the Vic P didn't do this.. very unusual indeed, and would be irrational, as well.. there a lots of different sorts of trackers, and lots of different places to put them, and lots of ways to disable picking up signals of where they are on the vehicle.. . .. .. it would not surprise me if the Vic Pol put a particular one that Borce could find and then satisfyingly discard, all unaware of the other one merrily tracking away.

You may have location services turned on, on your phone?

Yes, my thoughts too. But he forgot the shoes. Descriptions never included shoes.

Welcome, Jo Kenda. :)
