There seems to be a rift between the Ristevskis and Karen's family.
It's seeming more definite that a few of the ristevski members are in on it together.
Looking back at old images that have so far been taken from when Karen's aunt was present with BR and SR asking for public appeal, I notice that the aunt is like the outsider, hands in pocket like she wasnt really wanted or asked to be there by the Ristevskis but she did it for Karen. I also notice a couple of images have her standing away from BR and SR.
There aren't any arms of comfort around SR nor can we see any arms or holding of hands with the aunt.
When they walk away from the media , Br and SR walk away together leaving aunt behind . Wouldn't they all leave huddled together.

It will be awkward as, half the family thinks br is the one who killed her.

Wonder if Karen's bro Stephen is still having weekly meet up with BR as he was doing up until body was found.
Or he switched sides lately and by now you are either with Rs or you are against them. Hard To imagine there are still some who are on the fence on this

What happened to P Gray, BRs spokesman at the start, she was good articulate speaker, I just haven't seen her in media

Still no notices in the papers. My guess would be Fawkner as I'm fairly certain Keilor have no plots left unless you've pre-purchased one.

Back to the shovel.....
Police found soil on the shovel matched soil from Macedon . If she was found between the logs (doesn't sound like he dug a hole there). Could police have found another hole where he attempted to dig?.

How do you get legal aid for a defense lawyer, if you have not been charged with anything?

Interesting, isn't it? You can get legal aid advice .... but legal aid advice because your wife has gone missing? (When he first engaged Stary's office.) There are other avenues for that type of advice.
Maybe that is why Stary is now pronouncing far and wide that Borce is the #1 suspect, so legal aid can kick in.

Our main focus is on people who:
- can’t afford a private lawyer
- have an intellectual disability, an acquired brain injury or mental illness
- are in a psychiatric in-patient unit
- are experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- are a child or young person going to the Children’s Court
- can’t speak, read or write well in English
- are Indigenous Australians
- are at court for a family violence matter or are at risk of family violence
- are in custody or facing a serious penalty.

A serious penalty is where there is a real risk that a person will:
- go to jail
- be put on a community corrections order
- get a substantial fine.
The penalty can depend on your prior criminal record.

This is heartwarming.
SR has strong caring relatives namely Patricia Gray and Karen's brother Stephen.

Several funerals I've attended the casket is taken after the church service to the crematorium.
I imagine Karen will be cremated.

So glad they have done this. No-one who knew and loved Karen, or has been so very touched by her plight, deserves to be kept away if they want to show their utmost respect for Karen. And that includes the team of police that have been working hard on her case - and Samuel Johnson and his sister, who brought public attention to Karen's disappearance and were personally touched by her generosity.

Big kudos to Karen's birth family. They are not going to back down. And are doing everything they can to help Karen and show her the greatest of their love.

“We’ve been advising him since day one really,” Mr Stary said.

Exactly. So, I wonder if Borce had to pay for the work that was done prior to Karen being found. Or is there some creative accounting being done to just bill Borce/Legal Aid from that point on?

I notice that Legal Aid says they don't necessarily pay all of the lawyer's fees attached to a case.

You may also be entitled to get a lawyer to run your case through a grant of legal assistance. These grants pay for some or all of the costs involved in running a case. We have clear rules about who can get a grant of legal assistance.

Something's not working, so I hope this doesn't become a double post.
I went to a funeral recently where there had been a post-mortem performed on the deceased the week before. The coffin was there and all happened in the normal ceremonial way, but actually she had been cremated privately a few days prior.

I notice, too, that Stary's firm's website mentions nothing about working on or challenging Wills. They seem to just work on drug cases, sexual offences, theft and fraud, homicide & culpable driving, assault & domestic violence, firearms and weapons, traffic offences, bail applications .... a few things that a Ristevski family member (or more) have been known to appear in court about.

But Legal Aid can offer 30mins free advice about Wills, and refer a person to other legal entities for challenge matters, such as:

Other common disputes about Wills are:

- removing executors or trustees
- beneficiaries of the Will are missing
- estate administration disputes
- clarifying the meaning
- a delay in proving the Will.

Who can get a grant of legal assistance
Our funds are limited and demand for legal services is high, so we have very clear rules about who can get a grant of legal assistance. This means that our money goes to help people who need us the most.

When considering if you are eligible for a grant, we look at:

what your case is about
the likely benefit to you
if helping you can benefit the public
your financial situation using a means test.
Means test
The means test applies to most adults and takes into account:

money you get from work, welfare benefits or other sources
if you own anything of value, like a house or car
your weekly living expenses.
