I don't have enough info to really know if she was posed ... Really, she could have been pushed down onto the sofa or an armchair. Strange though, in this case, I agree.
Anyway, if she was posed in that position, it could be a for a number of reasons - the one you mentioned, being that the killer felt some sort of shame (I find the word 'remorse' not as applicable, personally, in most murder cases..) or even that the killer wanted to deliver the max amount of impact on the people discovering her body.
The facial attack, if combined with Kylie's body being posed, would narrow the odds that wasn't personal, significantly IMO. Though that too depends on on the killer's frame of mind, delusional stalkers might -think- they know the victim (and/or the victim knows them back..) via observing them, for instance, or the victim could be a surrogate for somebody they do know intimately. It would really depend on how exactly she was found, though..
This case is just terrifying. If this guy is delusional/chronically high and didn't know Kylie -- well, Melbourne WS'ers, it could be any one of us next.
Though I'd not be one bit surprised to discover this crime was personal. I would so love some more info on the crime scene... at least we might then get a better idea of whether there's a delusional random killer out there or not.
ETA: that she was still marginally alive when discovered says quite a lot too.. perhaps the killer was young/inexperienced/high and heard somebody coming, so didn't finish her off before he fled.
OR he's a sadlst and wanted to her to suffer. :sigh: It's so hard to say anything, with so little info.
