I wonder how long this will last. They appear to have a large block cordoned off going by the emergency declaration map on QLDPolice FB site.

ETA - in case any non aussies reading here the Emergnecy Declaration are declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act. I believe it gives police extra special powers during the declaration.

I don't think he will surrender - hopefully he nuts himself and saves taxpayer money to keep him in jail for 30+ years.

Police negotiating with fugitive after body found in barrel

He's believed to be holed up in a property at Alexandra Headland, where police have been attempting to negotiate with him since about 3pm. He is believed to be alone and is asking for his father.

He hasn't come out and surrendered yet. Still a high likely hood he kills himself first.

I think if he does get to talk to his father he will likely say goodbye and then commit suicide. They will likely try to get him out and promise him he can talk to his father once he comes out.... to avoid that scenario.

Just my thinking at the moment. I just hope whatever the result is, there is no further injury or death of innocents.

My thoughts exactly, praying our boys in blue are safe.

At this point he needs to be captured alive. People need answers as to what has happened and why. Then the boys at Wacol can sort him out. Its not a nice place. I am sure he is not wanting to go back. We do need to find out what exactly happened to such a young life first.

Wait, locals.... is this an ID on the body in the barrel? Or did they just jump to conclusions?

Police fear wanted man is armed with a gun

The siege has now entered its fourth hour. Sikorsky is a suspect in the murder of teenager Larissa Beilby, whose body was found dumped in a barrel in the tray of a ute located at Stapylton, Brisbane.

Sounds to me like he found out she was only 16 and was enraged about it so he killed her. Not convinced he will give answers, but hopefully he would.

Maybe a fight with the girlfriend, she leaves and tips off the cops?

Police fear wanted man is armed with a gun

A witness said he heard arguments between a man and a woman with children earlier in the day, about 2.15pm.

He said he has not heard the woman or children since. The witness said he believed the woman and child left the unit about 3pm.

------------------------

"He hasn't walked outside to the balcony, I can clearly hear him, he wants to speak to his girlfriend and father," the witness said.

"I believe he's on the phone to a negotiator."

Okay I didn't think so. It's mentioned twice in that article so it's probably just jumping to conclusions. I mean I'm sure it is her.... but I'd hate for her family to learn that from the media.

Questioning if he'd have the guts to do that to himself.

A daily mail person just tweeted that a middle aged man has been escorted into building with high vis jacket. Police would not state who just that he is helping them with their efforts.
I have no idea how to copy and paste a tweet. But will work on it.

ETA - let’s see if this works
