Australia Australia - Leisl Smith, 23, Wallarah, NSW, 19 Aug 2012 *arrest in 2019, died during trial*

I think the most common ways people send text messages to the wrong people is because they are multitasking - switching between two contacts to send messages and not checking again before sending, an oversight, as HAL9000 suggested. Or because the person is on their mind, a subconscious mistake. Like when people send a backstabby text or email to the person it is about - happens a lot!

There was also an apology text to Dad so it is likely these two things are related and perhaps Dad finding out was on her mind when she was dealing with the other person's secret. I really feel for Liesl potentially worrying about upsetting her family with something and I am sure it is nothing in comparison to the pain they are feeling from her disappearance.

Thanks ozazure, Gen-Y are typically pretty skilled with their electronic gadgets but not beyond making errors as you suggest. I hope police were able to retrieve all the contact information to follow up on.

Something else which occurred to me after viewing the train station cctv was how different Liesl appears due to the change in hairstyle from the other pictures where she has long, straight, dark hair.

I'm wondering how long before she went missing had she had the short blonde look? Days? Weeks? It looks to be a very different style which makes me wonder if the new look was in any way intended as disguise?

I am not able to view the facebook page due to browser issues so I don't know if there are more recent pictures of Liesl with the new look. It just seems a pretty radical change and I'm curious as to whether it was in any way connected as part of a plan to go into hiding and start a new life. Would seem to me suspicious if she adopted a totally new look close to the time she went missing.

Stand corrected 'geographically'.

My point all along the pictures posted to the CCTV DO NOT seem to portray the same person.

I was wondering if the family has tried all the 'Horse Forums' in Australia?

I do not know what discipline Leisl was in ... i.e. Quarter Horse, Camp Drafting, Western Pleasure ????? etc etc

Guessing the above as I do not know her in Dressage etc..... BUT
I can link her missing to one of my sites if it would help?

I heard today that this is now a homicide investigation... I'm incredibly saddened by this news. My heartfelt condolences go out to Leisl's friends and family, I'm hoping against hope that the authorities are wrong on this one, and Leisl is brought home safe to her family soon.

If not, may her killer be found and justice served, SWIFTLY.

I'm really sorry to hear of this recent development. I've been keeping an eye on this thread since last year and was hoping Liesl's family would receive the news they were seeking.

I still hope Liesl's been hiding out on some cattlestation somewhere, for whatever reason.

There was a case I read about where some nutter in Qld was on trial for a number of murders, and one of the suspected victims miraculously appeared alive and well during the course of the trial. So fingers crossed...

BTW whatever that mystery person's secret was, it sounds to me like it must've been something especially criminal in nature, and I hope that this person goes down for it BIGtime, whatever it was. I have a feeling Liesl may have deliberately forwarded that first text to her dad as security. Smart girl.

Once again I find myself hoping for the best...

My heartfelt prayers are with Leisl's family and friends.
From watching the YouTube slide show you can really get a wonderful picture of what this young vibrant woman us all about. The person that put this together has a true insight into what makes Leisl shine from the inside out and thank you for sharing that with us. She truly does have such a zest for life and that shows from her younger years through to now :-) her spirit is strong and no matter what has happened I bet she has remained true to her passions and the truth will prevail.
Such pain is felt by all, because of the life that glows from within this young woman and her stength will not be silenced or rest until the truth is revealed because that is what she is all about!

Pray that the truth is not too far away.
