Stephan Wagner, 61, was arrested at his home in St Andrews on Tuesday and appeared in court on domestic violence-related attempted murder charges on Wednesday.
Police say he tried to poison his 66-year-old wife Glenda Wagner with a cup of tea that had been laced with insecticide. A bottle of insecticide seized by police has been sent for forensic examination.

Mr Wagner had recently told neighbours his partner was unwell due to allergies, 7NEWS reports.

Friend of allegedly poisoned woman left 'shocked, devastated'

friend of a woman who was allegedly poisoned by her husband over a two-year period has told 9News she was left "shocked" and "devastated" by the accusations.

Glenda Wagner tonight remains in hospital, one day after her husband Stephan Wagner was arrested at their St Andrews home and charged with attempting to murder her.

Police alleged that Mr Wagner was using the insecticide Ant-Rid to lace Mrs Wagner's tea over a two-year period, leading to a significant decline in her health.

A semi-retired businessman accused of trying to murder his wife has been slapped with new charges after allegedly sending her letters from prison.

Stephan Wagner, 62, was arrested at his St Andrews home, in Sydney’s south west, on October 8 last year after allegedly brewing cups of tea for his wife Glenda Wagner, 66, that were laced with insecticide, Ant-Rid.

Police will allege he had been poisoning her for more than 18 months, causing her health to deteriorate, until their adult children became suspicious and alerted authorities.

Wow, how did I miss this? I've never heard of him.
18 months...Such an a-hole.
The wife must be terrified that he may eventually get out.

I totally forgot about this case.
I haven't seen anything to say that it's gone to trial and a verdict has been reached.

The last article I found was from July 2025 saying that some charges were dropped and new charges added.

I think the 18 months refers to the amount of time it was claimed he'd been poisoning his wife.
