I might be imagining it but I have looked at the Bruderhof’s before. It might have been a Sussex sleuth who brought them to my attention. Robertsbridge where they are based in East Sussex is just a 12 minute drive to Burwash.

It was such a lovely day yesterday I went to visit Rudyard Kipling’s home at Bateman’s in Burwash. What a gorgeous place to have lived and go for a long walk. I notice in the National Trust leaflet I was given that in Kipling’s day the village boasted 7 pubs in the early 1900s (the figure quoted by Aka at the inquest) but no longer.
Thanks LordPeter Flimsy, just had a streetview stroll around there, it's absolutely divine, beautiful - is that a one way street or two-way - very narrow!

Today I was in the Tamborine area so guess where I went driving to? HAZEL RD. I spoke to 3 residents in Hazel Rd, In particular to one lovely elderly lady (in her 89’s). Her and her husband have lived on Hazel Rd since 1978, they were one of the the first to build in Hazel Rd. The original farm cottage of Hazel Rd still stands but has been bought and sold a few times so her and her husband are the longest standing residents in the street. They are very well connected in the area having had a craft business for years. Her husband is from Germany and is (was) a maker of hand made spinning wheels. Very well respected in spinners and weavers circles in Australia.

We chatted for about 30 mins, such a lovely lady. She’s have never heard of FdH, WW or RB. There has never been a property named Ye Old Passy on Hazel Rd since they have lived there, in fact she told me when they first built their home in ‘78 they went to name it and was told then no one names their properties anymore (I know that has now changed and naming properties is a thing)

She suggested I try finding the original owners of the Cosy Corner (old photo attached) which was the original post office for the area, if an FdH or WW lived in the area the original owners of the P.O would know (assuming they’re still alive). But I think it’s fair to assume Wonka never lived on Hazel Rd or owned property there.

Anyway it was quite an interesting adventure which unfortunately didn’t unearth anything exciting but has most likely proven Wonka lied on his income passenger card in 1985/6 from the Philippines.

Unless he used a totally different name. But it does sound like he never did live there.

Thanks for going to all that trouble, it's fascinating reading.

Wow, @BabyBlues, what a lovely way to spend a couple of hours today. Thank you for sharing.
Allegedly, FdH bought the 20 acres of land, on two titles, back in 1976 and still owned it in 1981 when he claimed to have flown back from Europe for 15 days to attend to weed eradication there. He was very evasive when asked when it was sold but to my knowledge he never claimed to have built a house there; it was just vacant land. It should be easy for the authorities to do a Qld. Land Title search to verify his claims.
It does make me wonder though, what he planned to do with the forged die he got caught with - "Ye Old Passy - Tamborine".

A real estate agent with access to Core Logic (aka RP Data) would be able to help. Do any Australian WS’s know any RE Agents?

Yes I wonder what the forged due was about. I was really hoping the elderly lady I spoke to today was going to know something about FdH or Ye Old Passy.

Not that any of this is really going to help find what happened to MB, but interesting non the less.

I think @centred and @car54 found a Maria Katherina Reid or Read (nee Blum)

I'm not sure when she died but Maria Katarina Read (nee Blum) was a German Beautician who lived in Monte st Tamborine, she and her mailman husband William Henry Read listed on the Beaudesert electoral roll 1977 in Monte st. Could be possible RB connection there. ? It looks like Capo di Monte original homestead could have possibly have been at 27-29 and now a dated retirement subdivision with houses built close together all around Monte st.. The old maps and photos show some interesting historical information about the old Capo di Monte home and cedar getters. Before Tamborine, Maria and her husband also lived in Ascot across the road to Eagle farm race course in Brisbane. I have no idea if there is a connection. Who knows he could have been a part time Mr Blum for a short time to gain some property deeds. It's impossible to know with him.

RB and DDeH lived apart in UK and Europe. She was practically a single mother with him galavanting around conning other victims. Is it possible they lived apart in Australia for times too?

Like the old saying goes.
A girl in every port.
Only Yesterday I heard of a man with 17 wives and 27 children, he was a frequent traveller (seaman). The young lady telling me her story had DNA test recently to discover her father's past. She is still finding more siblings.

Yes I agree a Real estate agent would have to go through property sales.

With Hazel Road less than 1km long, someone should go door-knocking to ask questions. :) It would also be interesting to know which alias was used to purchase the property!
WOW @BabeBlues ! I posted this suggestion on the 5th of April, never thinking anyone would actually do it. So, a HUGE THANK YOU!! Our man of mystery just gets more and more mysterious, doesn’t he?

I have been calling out for an RE agent for a while on here RP Data is exactly what we need. The def didn’t live there as mentioned it was land only no dwelling.
And his name could have been anything.

it’s most likely another non truth story that he now has to go along with due to ting on passenger card address … to me another RB moment

Including asking the French, German European tight knit community members in Tamborine. :) I'm wondering if he just had a girlfriend with the land . Wondered why his wife didn't travel to Philippines and Tamborine with him:confused:o_O

I remember reading this I just couldn’t remember who wrote the suggestion. I did feel quite stalker-ish driving up and down the road looking for people to talk to. One of the neighbours told me the elderly lady and her husband are really friendly and wouldn’t mind if I knocked on their door.
He certainly gets more mysterious @Liselle

Just putting it out there..
maybe weed was being grown on the property and it was discovered, or, it was harvest time and it needed to be processed and sold.

a die - is like a stamp, they use dies in printing it that thing that carries the image

The can call them forged dies ( forged been the process ) - which is a bit confusing because RB like to forge things - so is it a "forged: die as in a fake die or is it just a Forged die in which forged is a legitimate process to make a die lol

Oh no, more confusing than I realized. But just having a stamp/die that say "Ye Old Passy" wouldn't be a crime in and of itself, would it? And if Ye Old Passy Tambourine isn't even the name of a real place, then no one else would have rights to the use of that name. Perhaps it was some "official" type stamp, used to indicate signing authority for an organization---but if he actually owned the land, wouldn't he have signing authority? I just cant quite figure out what crime is committed with regards to the die.

As explained by @KiwiNZ, it's not really clear in his rap sheet. My guess is that because he was in possession of various other fraudulent items, the police assumed the "Old Passy" stamp was also a forgery.

Maybe it should be a Forged forged die lol

I think its that is was intended to be use in a fraud - see below,

The Forgery Act.pdf (moj.gov.jm)

That in itself, was interesting to me. I tried to imagine a scenario with him using the stamp in a scam but without seeing the size and shape of the stamp there were too many possibilities lol.
Maybe the Cosy Corner Post Office that @BabyBlues found was about to be renamed "Ye Old Passy" ha ha.

Fantastic sleuthing @BabeBlues !

It does lay to rest another of his lies and edges closer to the truth. It all helps crumble his life story.
You have found so much over time to help the case!
And no doubt that couple you met may also be asking around for more information.
