Just admit it never happened. He kept Marion's items. There was never another pilot boyfriend with whom she ran off with overseas.

If he was so mortified that he was having an affair with Marion, that he wanted to end it and never gave her his number, then why store her boxes at his house where his wife and children could see them? And Marion would need to go to his house to pick them up??!! The story does no make sense.
