Will the judge make a ruling on this today ? Or do we have to wait for her verdict
Usually a report with findings is done a few months later.

I’m sure the sold car has been discussed. I wonder if the Police can track down the Nissan Bluebird for DNA evidence?

IMO that's why I think he has dredged it up from a past memory. These cardboard boxes are the standard ones used for removals these days (and likely to be the kind that SL described) but he has described specifically "old fashioned" tea chests...wooden with metal strips to seal the edges (like the one @ChrysStevenson posted) , which used to be used to ship tea and then fragile goods by ship.

Yes, the old fashioned tea chests with metal strips are hard to come by now - if you find one it's more likely to be in an antiques or vintage bric-a-brac place. My family used them in a move in Australia but that was literally 45 years ago. I think even in the late 90s there wouldn't have been many about as the tea companies had stopped shipping tea in them by then. They were originally popular to use in moves because they were sturdy and usually extremely cheap to get from the factories.

RB claims he never had large amounts of cash in his home safe or bank envelopes.

Smith asked why he didn't then simply place the small amount of cash in his bank account like normal people.

RB said that it's because it was in foreign currency.

Smith said RB just earlier today claimed he always exchanged the money when returning to Aus.

Smith suggests he kept his money out of the bank because it was large amounts of stolen money that he didn't want traced

RB is in way over his head. Every time he's breathless and stuttering, it's him tying to think of the next word/lie.

And he spends nearly the entire time breathless and stuttering. Which is remarkable.

He must have forgotten that he was in the ski village recovering from his accident with two broken legs, or something similar. Lol

He can remember the hotel he stayed in in 1968 had 3 stories but can't remember the names of his family members

He just said that he wasn't there for his health, it was because it was a place that everyone was going to.

The break was so that everyone could go and privately facepalm.

No. As this is an inquest and not a criminal trial, there is no verdict.

The purpose of this inquest is to determine if Marion is deceased and her movements surrounding her disappearance.

After today is over, the Coroner will take time to assess the evidence and will write her 'findings'. They will be published publicly, on the Coroners Court of NSW website. Not exactly sure how long that will take. As long as she needs I guess.

The Coroner has the ability to say if the evidence suggests a certain person was involved in Marion's disappearance, but it holds no legal weight.

If a criminal case begins on this same matter, the verdict can be different to the findings of the Coroner.

If charges are laid between now and the Coroner posting her findings, then the inquest is postponed and the Coroner can post her findings AFTER the criminal trial is complete.

Again, the Coroner's finding can be different to the verdict of trial.

Court adjourned for a break.

So what’s the final inquest report going to say?

- the police failed in their duties to search for a missing person and in their record keeping
- RB is an unreliable witness with a history of deceiving women, fraud and theft
- MB likely had some kind of relationship with RB prior to her disappearance.

Can they draw any other conclusions or is that as far as it goes?
