A google search says:

A pensioner and carer in Aus might get a total of around $40k a year, plus a little extra for having 2 kids until they are 18.

And these are average yearly incomes:
Lower-middle class...$32,048 – $53,413
Middle class………......$53,413 – $106,827
Upper-middle class...$106,827 – $373,894
Rich………………….......$373,894 +

Add to the $40k per year
Rental assistance payment - Discounted utility rates - Free car rego & licences - Free bus and train travel - Seniors discounts on many goods & services.
Then add the sale of just one stolen coin at around $5k, a stolen credit card (like GGB) or similar scam and he's elevated to Middle class.

Some millionaires live like paupers; why? I'm not suggesting he's a millionaire but he certainly wasn't struggling.
Perhaps it was never about accumulating the trappings of the rich. Maybe it was always about the mental challenges - how to outsmart the law; how to milk every free cent of Government money; how to hide every illegal dollar; how to execute a forgery; how to plan a scam and pull it off; how to create a new persona; how to hide who he really is. And now, how to outsmart the court system; how to get away with murder! JMOO

The question I keep asking myself is what is Renov Pubs for? Originally 3 names now reduced to one.. it is a ‘natural person’ which I gather is similar to being a sole trader. The fact there was a change from FDH to RB in April means he is still using it.. so for what purpose?
Is it for business? Is it for tax reasons?
How does it work when you receive an OS pension and an AU one? Do you pay tax in both countries? Is the pension from Belgium taxable here or is it tax free.. if you add whatever that pension is plus his pension here and scams he’s not destitute.
The OS pension does go straight into his account according to what he’s said.. so is that declared here and taxed here?
So many questions!
Does he need to maintain renov pubs in order to maintain citizenship?

Plus he has a history of burying valuables. Or was that a lie?

Which April? Interesting …

I don't think he actually buried valuables.
He told JO that story so she'd hand over her jewellery and house keys, thinking they would be safe during their trip.
When in fact, HE held onto them.

The story was part of the con.
It distanced himself from the jewellery and keys.
For example, HE didn't have them. If they ended up missing it's because someone else took them, after all, he buried them for safety. It has nothing to do with him, etc.

That's how I interpreted it, anyway. MOO.

I tend to agree @MrsEmmaPeel

I feel he really needed those pensions. Because forcing your family to like you're an invalid pensioner, to hide the fact you're wealthy and successful, kind of defeats the purpose of being wealthy and successful.

If he was successful at getting money thought cons, and knew how to launder it, then the pension cover story wouldn't be needed. He could set up a successful company that ran at a loss, launder it, and do all the things wealthy people do to avoid revealing actual income and paying taxes.
I don't believe that DHD family knew they were drawing a disability and carers pension ( i don't know for a fact), but I get the feeling her sister and husband were pretty well off and the family's close, I don't think RB would allow them to think he wasn't of the same status.

In which case if they were withholding that information from her family, she was instruction to do so, and she knew they were cheating the system.

I also think he will take money were ever it is coming from, need it or not, I think as they said at the inquest he had set up names in different states and enrolled them to vote, I took that as they could be drawing other pensions in other names. JMO

I hope they have interviewed her sister

I have done virtually no research compared to others on here and I applaud the fantastic sleuthing. What I find most interesting is that we have all listened to the same podcasts, followed both parts of the inquest and checked out all the NAA files......and we all have a different take on RB. That is so good, because it keeps us all questioning all the ideas that are put forward, revising theories etc.
I am watching the romance scam tv programme, one fraudster had 23 aliases, lifelong fraudster, got nasty and assaulted the third victim when she confronted him with the truth...all sounds very familiar. Two women this morning who sold their houses and gave the proceeds to the fraudster.. just tragic.

Oh wow, I missed that bit... he set up names in different states and enrolled them to vote ?!
Yes, I doubt it was an interest in helping particular candidates in other states get elected, lol.

An obvious intent might be to get his 'enrolled to vote card' to use as further ID.
But also could've used them to give proof of life that his aliases were real.
In Australia, voting is compulsory. If you are a on social security benefits, or pay tax, they WILL find out if you didn't vote, and fine you. So I wonder if he travelled around voting in all the different names?

The interesting thing here is that the welfare system is national.
If details from one state matched those from another state, they'd notice.
So if he was collecting pensions from multiple states, he would've given different addresses and bank accounts.

Wow, just wow.

Does anyone still consider it possible that he had another family in Europe? That he tried to move D dH closer in the 80s, but she couldn't stick it?

I’m suspicious of his accountant in Ballina (VW), partly b/c RB seems to make a point of not remembering his name and VW is now the registered agent for what was once Ballina coins.

The Norman Lindsay would have been very difficult and risky to sell. Did Marion also have another painting?
Do we know any details about the original painting/s?

I am not sure that they could actually draw on pensions in other aliases and if that was what AC was suggesting? I don't personally think he was saying that.
The ATO and Centrelink would have been right onto that as it is all linked to your Taxation number and he wouldn't be wanting the Aust taxation company knowing all his aliases:cool: Moving as they do IF they are rented homes, would be difficult to keep up with what address aligns with what alias for any correspondence, not to mention the new renters of those properties possibly getting mail under aliases. All too risky for RB.

Absolutely suspicious of old mate VW and their mate Baz. And the company shares
