This whole case is going to make an excellent movie.

My reflections on today:
I don't believe DdH when she claims to have no knowledge of anything. I would believe it more if she had some knowledge of some situations but none at all seems impossible when you have lived with someone for as long as she has.

.
quote - " I don't believe DdH when she claims to have no knowledge of anything. "

There are getting to that with the question about the phone call she received from a women when they lived in Ballina. She claim not to remember .... of course ... if a women answered my boyfriends phone I would give her some home truths, or this person may have track him down herself after been fleeced, that would have been an interesting conversation ... and this I guess was the catalyst to move from Ballina. They are going to prove she knew what he was doing and had done

It wasn't Marion who made the phone call, they have someone up their sleeve

I expect women will be flocking forward to say there bit - considering his trip with Marion's to the UK was half way down the list of his travel movements via Japan in the 90's ( presented to DH on day 2), he was very busy with this scheme

This is also pretty much like my take and observations . I am not good at the guessing games as such and am more inclined to hear everything out before i come to some conclusion or another , so tomorrow will fill in the gaps and then i may have some more idea on the bigger picture .
I am appreciating some of the facts coming forth here as well because they can fill in other gaps .

I have found on WS if i read to much of peoples ideas about what people think happened just confuses and befuddles me . i am reserving any judgement on her for now other than what you wrote here so thanks for saving me the time and i have stopped reading every thing until the end of day so i don't do my head in completely . haha

I must say though i was observing the coroner during today and found her reacting similar to what i was but she managed to hold it together
Agree I’m not at a definitive this is my conclusion on what I think either everything needs to be heard first.

I'm a bit behind so maybe this is already answered, but isnt' this an OUTWARD passenger manifest? i.e. leaving Australia?

But this inquest has nothing to do with anyone other than Marion Barter.
They are also paining a picture of RB's past behaviour as a way to try and understand what might have happened to Marion.

No, it's an incoming passenger list, listing passengers who disembarked in Australia.

I believe I have found the address of DdH's parents in the 60s and 70s. I am pretty confident it is them based on several records I found.

Excellent sleuthing! I missed that one - I was looking for the father based on DdH's birth announcement in the SMH, but he seems to have gone by his middle name.

DdH is asked for the reason she and RB moved around in the mid 90s to mid 00s. All of them are very specific, except one...
--They bought a house in Tasmania and lived there for three years until 1996 - the given reason was that she had an uncle who lived there and it was a cooler climate.
--In 1996, they moved to Ballina (16 Harold Cres) - for the kids to complete high school.
--Then at the end of 1996, they moved to Wollongbar for 12 months - the reason given is she can't remember why and that there was no specific reason.
--At the end of 1997, they moved to The Terrace back in Ballina - implied reason is daughter is still in year 11 though she is not directly asked. Casseldon is more interested in the reason for leaving Ballina, not returning.
--Then they moved in 2001 to a town in Sydney that starts with an R (I think) - reason given was to be closer to their daughter who had gone there to work.
--Then they moved to Cessnock - reason was her sister was there and they didn't want to stay in Sydney anymore.
--Then to Melbourne because their son was in university down there.
--Then they went to Miami, Queensland because their son was working up there after he finished Uni.

Interesting that Ballina is so close to Byron Bay, and only a 4 hour drive from Armidale, too.

A question I have about Diane is how did she get the pension in her 30s?

If RB is on a disability pension my guess would be DH might qualify for a carers pension.

I bet he has been claiming centrelink benefits for years under different names and addresses. He has multiple passports and documents as proof. The Address changes so frequently would fit that fraud.

Yes I thought I heard her call it a “ wives pension” at some point.

Wow, yes this is a great point. He could have been making a tidy salary with a few different aliases collections the pension.

As to why. . . My embezzler husband stole the most from his own mother, second most from my mother. His brothers never monitored him and his "investments." Husband had been youngest of four boys, neglected horribly by alcoholic parents and probably abused by a male uncle. Hence, stealing from mothers and authority. Pathology always has a pattern. Offenders enact stories. Any kind of assault on women (even cons) can be traced to childhood and mother figures. This is not an excuse; this is just for those who want to understand why. My explanations come from 40 years of therapy and from endless reading on these topics. Blum clearly created chaos akin to his own childhood chaos. The moves, traveling, and chaos may have addled wife's brain-- it certainly would have addled mine. (Anyone seen or listened to West Cork? ie Jules the long-suffering mistress.)

Your input is invaluable in understanding why the families of these perpetrators behave the way they do.

Thank you.

I am torn between DdeH also a victim or someone who does know more than what she is letting on. She is very inconsistent and there are no doubt she is protecting someone, but it could be herself.
When she was asked Qs by Kim Burke she was very attentive and very direct in her memory of things, especially when the date of the supposed trip together on the Chusan, is obviously incorrect, YET she was very adamant that that was the year.
Something is amiss there for sure.
She is either sedated or just completely unaware of time through some health issue, or possibly as others say a big part of the scheme.

I am so excited, gosh I really hope nothing stands in the way of him taking the stand. I wonder if he will be as evasive as DdeH.

I just searched the distance between the Howard Crescent home and The Big Prawn where JO said she regularly dropped him off. 1.1km/3 mins walk.

My guess is he will indeed present as a frail, memory-poor, old & impaired man. I think he will conveniently not remember a lot, but will get his back up with Mr Casselden’s style of questioning. I’d also not be surprised if he tries to remain silent or state he refuses to answer certain questions, and if his legal representative constantly objects.
Just my thoughts.

You know how one of RB's ex wives was Nicole Reno?
I wonder if that is where Renov Pubs business name came from?

*I may have completely misspelled her name.

I cancelled her been a victim when she claim not to remember a phone call from a women asking to speak to Ric when they lived in Ballina .. we all know how that phone call would have went ... if we got one as a wife you would remember it!!! the police were not asking about just some random phone call
