I wonder where his wife’s parents lived? There would have been no shade on Ric in 2013
It would be interesting if the elderly couple (if still alive) were shown a photo of younger RB and asked if they had ever seen him/ if he had ever been to their house etc..

I’m just listening to the catch ups, and ep 1 where they talk about the trouble at TSS and how Marion was upset by what other staff were saying about her, made me wonder if it wasn’t other staff at all, what if it was tip-off style info like the complaint made about Ginette G-B’s home business?? Fits the MO of isolate and move o/s
ow that’s interesting…I never considered that!

Ok here are some words about The Texas Swindler.
All the links I can find are on buy a book or video sites.
I couldn't find any wikipedia links or any other sites not selling anything.

Here is a description on Amazon describing The Texas Swindler

"Bob Leach was a throwback to an era of legendary Texas desperados. He was a conman, a kidnapper, a cattle rustler, a stickup man, and more. But far from practicing his depredations in the Wild West heyday of the 1880's, Leach was a modern-day badman who became one of the most sought-after criminals in Texas history; from landing in a Comanche County courtroom on charges of larceny to ending up in a Callahan County Jail where he later escaped"

I myself can't see anything that makes me think, oh this is just like the Marion Barter case.

Yup he was international and a person of multiple fake identities. A junior RB I should say, flashy version. Sadly he was only able to be imprisoned for a short time in his home country, Israel, on the basis of travelling on a false document or something IIRC. He hasn't let it affect him in the slightest it seems to have worked out to his advantage as he now earns legit revenue off the back of his 'persuasive skills' :(
I wonder if we're talking about someone else.
Can someone post a link to this person's story, or the name of the person

I had been just thinking that maybe RB got his ideas from this person if his deeds were well known and predated him.

WOW.

You might need to go back and listen again to the latest details at the inquest if you believe the police are not at fault.
I know..but it’s so easy to judge from hindsight..they are not just given one case at a time.. and this really did look from the outset as an intentional disappearance …

besides sally, they had Marion’s sisters saying she may be gone intentionally??!! I think the police try their best with what they are given at the time… I don’t blame them..if anyone I would be disappointed by the sisters who did not pursue or seem to care about their missing flesh and blood.

Whether right or wrong the police are guided by the closest living relatives and only the daughter was Pursuing it. A miscommunication in the beginning about being reporting as missing has unfortunately stuffed everything up. This is human error.. unfortunately these things happen. The only intentional person at fault is RB and I’m sure the police are trying everything now.

Check out the non-fictional documentary on Netflix called "Tinder Swindler". Albeit introducing modern technology, the modus operandi is UNCANNILY on a parallel!
OMG I'm so sorry, Liselle!

For some weird reason, a spell thing had changed Tindler into Texas on my laptop
At least it said Texas instead of Tindler. I can see Tindler now. My computer has done a few spelling change things like that recently.

Sorry for all the posts. Yes I def know about the Tinder Swindler.

I don’t know about the Texas swindler but the current one is the guy getting girlfriends off the tinder app (“tinder swindler”) and claiming to be kindnapped, on the run from bad guys etc and he would send the girls pics of his face all beat up and bloodied and the kind hearted girls would feel so desperate for him and take out huge loans to send him the money so he didn’t get further injured etc

This was only after flying them around in jets and pretending to be some heir of a diamond mogul ..

It was always done with haste and in moments of pressure so the girls didn’t really have time to think rationally..it was the first impulse…”yes of course I’ll help you”..

In my above post which I edited before posting, I typed Tindler and looked back a few seconds later and it had changed to Texas :D

I"m being channelled by a ghost from Texas in my laptop. Maybe they are a victim of a conman.
:D

I definitely think he would have gathered techniques from others, I have been searching for any newspaper reports or books from the time before Marion that may have influenced him..haven’t found any yet..

Interesting the tinder swindler had help from his thuggy bodyguards and also his first wife/or girlfriend (can’t remember) who travelled WITH the tinder swindler and his “new” girlfriend in the private jet with their child..!!

This was something one of the victims said she just couldn’t understand…as THAT girl had been a victim at an earlier stage too..

I guess if you can’t beat them join them..?

No offence… but this ‘oh well human error’ blows my mind. Police simply didn’t do their job.
You can’t spin it any other way. It’s the facts.

I think the initial communication at the police station when sal first went there, was the human error.

The initial lack of detail taken down, failure to record and process the initial report was the human error. I think this is unacceptable but it happens.. the officer may have been completely stressed out over worked or something else…

I think this was a miscommunication in the fact that the police officer who spoke to sally should have provided / explained options and drew out more of the story from sally.. becouse they knew about missing persons reports, sally didn’t.

Everything went downhill from one initial mistake…

I don’t think she knew anything about him being a con before taking her flight because she was still under his spell when filling out the passenger card… she wouldn’t have wrote housewife, Luxembourg etc..
So, do you believe MB ("unaware of him being a con ….and under his spell"), unwittingly accompanied the "delightful" Mr RB from the Brisbane airport to Byron Bay? RB stated he used coach buses when travelling to and from Brisbane airport, which would have made the 200km (400km round) trip extremely exhausting immediately following a minimum 24hr+ air journey from London. Considering MB was supposedly returning to Luxembourg (a housewife), 3-8 days later, a lot of skullduggery is the answer to all these occurences.

anything could have happened …RB seems to like to take the economy route when he can..but in an urgent or special situation he could have organised a hire car for a few days, organised her a taxi to a hotel he had arranged etc to a place near where her regular branch was but not too near other people would run into her..

this trip may have been just to acesss the bank money so exceptions could have been made to quickly achieve the end goal (access to the funds)…

He also probably didn’t want her staying too far from his place (ie Brisbane) so he could still keep tabs/keep influence etc
