Conman Ric Blum should never have become an Australian

Marion Barter’s daughter Sally Leydon has every reason to be upset, angry and frustrated over the light touch shown by Australian authorities to Ric Blum, a serial fraudster who has left behind a trail of misery.

Mr Blum should never have been able to become an Australian citizen after a four-year prison stint in France for serious fraud offences.

Then, more than four decades ago when immigration officials and police were briefed on his long and growing criminal record abroad, he should have been stripped of his citizenship and kept out of the country for good for everyone’s protection.

If that had happened, he wouldn’t have been around to become entwined with Barter, a loved and respected Gold Coast teacher who mysteriously vanished in 1997 after the pair apparently became intimately involved. ............ in a case where officialdom has badly and repeatedly dropped the ball.

APPALLING!

I HOPE THERE IS A FULL INVESTIGATION INTO THESE DEPARTMENTS AFTER IT IS ALL OVER AND MARION IS BROUGHT HOME TO HER DAUGHTER AND FAMILY.

In East Ballina

Seriously? He’s moved from wheelie walker to Zimmer frame that quickly??
Can you imagine the children at school. What does your Daddy do for a living?!

You would think his Disability pension was for his ‘orse accident breaking nearly every bone in his body but actually it’s for PTSD according to Carer’s pension claimant DdeH. How did they swing that one with the Australian authorities?

I would love to see those claim forms.

Did anyone else notice DdH’s hair? She obviously dyes her hair dark brown and hasn’t done it for a while!
AKA Princess Daggy
or Dags

Next time we see him I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a wheelchair, with perhaps portable oxygen.
I was thinking this! Wouldn’t they, if his abilities were truly diminishing, make appropriate modifications to their home so it was easier for him to access? That’s a really tricky path to navigate with a frame!!

I thought it looked like really thin hair actually, rather than streaks or regrowth. I thought maybe alopecia… and then I googled cause of alopecia + poison and got this:

Multiple agents are known to cause alopecia when found at toxic levels in the human body including heavy metals, selenium, boric acid, vitamin A, prescription drugs such as colchicine, botulinum toxin, synthetic opioids, and fungi.
Alopecia and Associated Toxic Agents: A Systematic Review

Oh my Lordy…
ETA … I wonder if she’s had a liver test recently…

I’m in the camp that DdeH knew far more than she dares to let on. The way she manoeuvred around the questions at the inquest concerning their short term move to Wollongbar in 1997 in-between living in Ballina was so revealing.

Disabled people get home modifications.
Simple things like paths. Not pavers and pebbles, TRIP Hazzard. We'd call that a Blumble Blooper.

I want to acknowledge the comments that have been made here before in regards to not judging a disability by inconsistent use of an aide etc. What an eyewitness observes is not necessarily the whole story and a snapshot of a condition on a particular day isn’t the whole story either.

HOWEVER in the context of evidence of RB as a serial liar and fraudster who easily adopts a persona to get into and out of situations as it benefits him, then yes, his disability looks performative and dodgy. Unfair to those who are genuinely frail or need support to walk.

It looked to me that RB’s wife was more unstable on her feet than he was, both in the recent footage and at court.

What a mess. I actually feel sorry for DDH - not because she’s a victim but because on some level it’s still a human tragedy to see any life wasted like this. A whole life to live and you could do anything with it, but your lack of moral values mean you end up spending your days waddling around East Ballina with reporters hounding you on ShakeyCam™️. People ought to be better.

Folk all over the world are desperate to have or to reclaim Australian citizenship. The rules are so strict now and yet this man has been enabled by bureaucrats to maintain and exploit the privilege for decades.

I hope someone in this situation grabs a chance for redemption. There must be someone out there who has the strength of character to cop to what has happened and set their name on the right side of history.

ETA My opinion only of
Course … !

Dont think he would be poisoning her.

She probs havent been able to get to the hair dresser since the inquest because NO ONE in Ballina would want to serve criminals!!! IMO

Surely MdH could get handy with a box dye! I wouldn’t let my mum walk around looking like that.

Double front timber Gates, Olive green rendered fence/house.
Hmm. What a shame the Google Street View in East Ballina hasn't been updated since 2010!
