I wonder if they're based in some country where your maiden name and previous married names are routinely kept as part of your name.

I guess I just find it weird, given I’ve only found either gravestones or plot locations on that website. (When searching for family).

It is weird someone would do this though given the case is ongoing.

I am sorry I am very late to the party. Just had a thought about the visit to Qld Teachers Union Health. My understanding is that you cannot visit there unless you hold Qld Teachers Health Insurance. I am not sure if that was the case in 1997 but it is now. This would mean MB had such insurance is that correct? If so, would her records remain there? There would certainly be other specialists available to use there, including eye specialists. Hence the visit to an optometrist at Grafton may be out of character for someone who normally used Qld Teachers for those services?

To the best of my knowledge, the Findagrave memorial to Marion has been removed. I've been on findagrave for many years and have found that contacting a member usually works. I'm glad someone did.

The Japanese link to Ric Blum interests me, why did he return there regularly and then never return? Marion mentioned an interesting time in the East, no doubt Blum made money from selling stolen coins, dealing in stolen antiques, airline tickets, but what about his criminal connections?

Yes definitely the Japan link needs checking out. It may just have been for financial reasons that he was travelling that route but people like him take advantage of any opportunity as we have seen.
The Obara MO is very different though, motivated more by sexual fantasies and power than by money.
Wonder if AKA could speak any Japanese?
Re liver transplants not sure that the Caucasian victims would have had suitable livers for the yakuza.
Another possibility is that there were Japanese victims. A tall, charming, “wealthy” European gentleman offering the promise of a new life in Australia or Europe would have had no trouble playing the same game. The language barrier would have provided him with even greater protection.

Yes, Obara's crimes were different but Obara and Blum have the same type of hatred for women.Drug, take advantage and total degradation.

Yes.
Thats her middle name.
Yes it is no doubt where they got the name from.

She has a few social handles. They all do.
Even Diane is on there.
None of them are strangers to social media.

It's how they keep track of the case no doubt.

Interestingly though, some time back the MBFB page mentioned he made sure the women he conned had no social media, aside from his cousins wife.

I thought that was fascinating. He certainly does his homework. Or both of them do homework

I also think a vital area missing from this whole story is the Japan connections - who was the airline staff member, where was he going, what was he doing? What locations was he visiting and why and who does he know over there. I'm sure he must have stood out as being a notable character with being so very tall. No doubt he would be scamming as it's what he does all day every day.

Is there a Japanese version of websleuths? Do we have any Japanese or Japanese speaking members here on this thread?
