ETA I think it is a cognitive distortion to believe that everything revolves around or relates to a particular person, just like believing that everything is a plot by a certain group. IMO, it is an unhealthy way of trying to understand the world and that's why I'm pushing back.

Not sure what you're trying to imply about us all lol but clearly we don't think EVERYTHING is related to RB, but if something is put up for discussion or has a vague hint of RB we will try and find if it's related or not, that why we are on this page to rules things in our out because we enjoy the hunt.

It's a big world, there's more than 1 man who has affairs with women. And none of the stories have anything to do with women who are being persuaded to sell their houses or anyone who sells coins, or Belgium, or any other details that resembles that individual's life.

I think it’s more of a case of looking under every stone. You might turn over hundreds and find nothing connecting Aka to any of them and some might seem outlandish and a bit left field but this case has had so many bizarre twists & turns that I don’t blame anyone being suspicious of anything possibly connected, no matter how loosely, to this individual.

Unfortunately, I'm talking about real people and real books they've written, not stones.

I think when we're talking about someone with the same name, Blum, in the same location, Bali, writing pretentious and trashy sexist stories about men who let women down, then it's fair game to wonder if AKA is behind this, not just people over-applying their thinking.

No, not overthinking, actually I am emotionally reacting to extremely harsh words, and having empathy for someone being addressed in a public forum in that language.

I recall being mercilessly telephone-harassed because I happened to have the same last name as someone, the caller refused to accept it was mistaken identity, it was very hurtful and unfair.

Which "extreme harsh" words and what "language" I don't think anyone has said anything about the author, all comments are about RB, am I missing something ?

Sorry, I don't understand your posts and I don't understand what you mean. It would appear that AB is not anybody's real name, whomsoever wrote the book used a 'pen name' and has no public profile whatsoever, so there's nobody at risk of being contacted if that's what you mean?

The one thing in the book that I’d say rings a bell, although sadly likely not rare, is the derogatory tone in which women are discussed. The dismissive, sex-mad, deserve what they get vibe.

I am more inclined to think that perhaps AH met this Blum in the early 2010s in Bali - it was around this time he was using Bali as a destination point to entice his victims.

The book launch was 2019 - the author could have sat on the draft for yrs and AH may have 'helped' himself to the ideas for a new scam IF they knew each other while AH frequented Bali?
His daughter was married there 2011
AH changed his name to Blum in 2014

It would be another way to blow his scent attaching it to a person who wrote a book about the very things AH used for his scams.

He uses the work of others to interweave his own traps - we have seen it many times that he uses books to gather his information. He is a lazy SOB - he wouldnt be writing a book about his crimes!

He is a bigger star than that in his own mind - he is wanting FAME and recognition. In his own sick and twisted mind he would know that one day he will be written about, there will be a movie about him and he will be infamous showing the world how lax the Governing departments are in the world and how stupid women are in his mind.
He is a narcissist, the worst of them and he wants the fame.

Writing one miserable book as thin as his pinkie wont give him recognition.

He or Dianne possibly knew this man and he took what he wanted from him.

All the names of his aliases so far have been linked to real people. This could really be why he used the name Blum

Blum - Bali - preying on women - a little book draft he came across when he met someone
Just like the NY book and the red cedar plantation he BS about.

I found a photo of Chacko and another man holding the book

I would have a guess and say this is the author of the book
This!
I agree 100% @mishy66

I think one thing that has blown my mind in this whole case is the fact that there seem to be no such thing has coincidences here. If something stinks of RB theres a good chance of it being him in my opinion.

From TLV FB:
It's official - findings for the inquest into the disappearance of Marion Barter will be delivered on Thursday February 29 in Sydney by Coroner Teresa O'Sullivan. Congratulations to all involved, especially the Coroner and legal teams involved and of course Sally Leydon for getting to this point and enduring all the heartache in between. It's been a long wait, but we're confident it'll be worthwhile. I know you're probably all wondering when the next podcast is out. It'll be out in a few weeks before the inquest as there will be much more to report then. <modsnip - not an approved source> Thank you for your loyalty and patience. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Take care out there. Much love, The Lady Vanishes Team - Alison, Bryan, Sally E and Marc. X

Anyone know if RB is required at the Findings? I wish him nothing but the very best of health until then.

Can you imagine the sheer frustration that Sally has undergone. She has sat just feet away from the person that could answer nearly every question she has had for over 2 decades.

Should be free, though... it's mainly just the news about the date, followed by a recap of the case (how did we get here...?) and a call out to readers ("Do you remember this man?").
