LB: What sort of person, what sort of man is capable of doing that to somebody else, to exploit, take advantage of a woman in that way?

ER: I see it as somebody who is opportunistic, somebody that has no feeling for their fellow man. Because lots of people are lonely, it’s not a crime to be lonely, or to be vulnerable but to understand that about people and to then actively work to take advantage of them is, I don’t have time, to me it’s just disgusting….It is to me it’s sociopathic in its nature . That’s how I see it. And I see it that way because this isn’t about just leaving somebody just broken hearted, because, you know they thought that they had someone that loved them but they are back to being lonely again. This is about taking people’s life savings from them and their personal belongings from them that they needed to support their families or to retire on. These are people whose lives now are completely and utterly destroyed. There’s women out there who have to have their children look after them when they wanted to look after their children. This is, I mean, how do you do that to people’s lives?

LB: Well, you put it well. I mean you’re not only exploiting their emotions, but you’re taking away everything.

ER: You’re exploiting their emotions for the purpose of taking those things.

LB: You can’t get much lower.

ER: No

MBFB Page

We now have information that confirms that by the 26th of October, 1997, Ric Blum had moved from Wollongbar to East Ballina. It could have been much earlier too. From a 3-bedroom family home with a study and backyard that both Ric and Diane insisted they needed for accommodate their teenage children in Wollongbar to a pokey little villa unit, at the front of the block facing the road. This was 11 days after approximately $80,000 was withdrawn from Marion's bank account in Byron Bay, NSW, 20 minutes up the road from there ... Why move ?

The next house move is in early 1999. This move was from Unit 6, to Unit 1 in the same unit block. A nicer unit , yes , sea views, pathway to the beach and a little larger. This move happened exactly a week after Ginette Gaffney-Bowan was successful in her AVO against Ric Blum and a private investigator (that I have spoken with a number of times), was chasing Ric Blum for Ginette's $28,500. Ric could literally have seen the private investigator banging on Unit 6's door from his window ! ... why move ?

Next is Janet Oldenburg, at the time he meet Janet at Evans Head for a coffee in October, 1999, Ric was still living in Unit 1. Janet's house settlement was complete shortly afterwards and off they went to England, allegedly armed with all of her identity documents and her suitcase with three locks on it. After being left stranded in the UK and coming home, a very detailed statement is taken from Janet by Coraki police in early January 2000.

Investigations commence including the suggestion by the NSW Police investigator that Ric Blum may intend "using her identification documents for illegal transactions or to assist him to enable another female to assume Ms. Oldenburg's identity". There is also talk of outstanding warrants from way back in the 1980s too.

Twelve days after the investigation commences into Janet's allegations, Ric changes his address to The George Hotel in George street, Sydney ... again, why move ?

In summary, what I am saying is that if Ric Blum had "nothing to do with Marion Barter after she left Australia in June 1997" why did he move house 11 days after Marion's money is gone from her bank, eight days since she missed her son Owen's birthday, 12 days after he opened up a safety deposit facility at the Commonwealth Bank in Ballina ?

Just like he did after ending the relationship with Ginette Gaffney-Bowan and just like he did after ending the relationship with Janet Oldenburg in the following three years ...

So the question I have, Ric Blum (as I know you read every word) ... why move ? what were you concerned about ? That your activities would catch up with you ? If you had nothing to with Marion after she left, why did you decide to move house again to a tiny flat ?

Patterns repeat. We are all creatures of habit after all. Joni

:)
Chickens are roosting!

Diane De Hedervary you know dont you.
All that money for all the moving, all the upheaval for the kids, not to mention Maites property that came along after Marions money was stolen. The "childrens inheritance " as AH put it.

He moved to the hotel to do the coin shuffle from his little side job of mail sorting.
And Diane knows nothing?

Come on. They all know something.

Property portfolio is huge for 2 people on Government handouts.

No wonder the family are not budging.
After all these women, and still no word at the station.

I went down the rabbit hole way back when about this family and Claire with no idea at the time he name dropped to gain ..

I think it was discussed at the time and the suggestion that because this family had a very elite background with castles etc , that it may have suited his air of importance and connection fed his delusional import of grandeur of himself but who knows ...just for those who haven't seen the following link is just an iceberg to the history

Thanks Centered. Again it’s a possibility although as far as I know most of his known aliases were not linked to him having such grandiose ideas. I wonder if his children ever asked where the deH name came from as it doesn’t match any other member of the family?

I bet they wondered about this….they must have also wondered about the many other things that didn’t add up, including where the money for their frequent inheritances came from. I can imagine someone like him bringing them up old school, not to question his authority though, so he likely never had to explain. Didn’t one of the swimming friends say they lived in fear of him? Must be bizarre for them to have these lifelong mysteries unravel in the media.

Who knows :) He said himself he didnt really know when asked who he really was in court He probably wanted his kids to have a famous name and now they are stuck with it as an alias for life

And he’s dug a mighty big hole for himself and his latest family.

Hmm - moves house 26th of October, one day prior to closing his Ballina-CBA security box. No doubt he had a decent sized mattress.

I wonder who his removalists were? I wonder if his unit had a garden shed to store some tea chests?

Yes! So obvious!
Hmm - I'm not so sure this is RB, more likely a troll, some people enjoy causing hurt or are simply seeking attention.

IMO RB will be busy pouring over the evidence with his wife to get their stories straight. After that he'll be perfecting his 'poor-me-I'm-innocent' look and practicing his stammer in front of a mirror.
I'm sure he's reading every post and would love to make nasty comments, but his lawyer might refuse to represent him if he pulled any tricks like this. Just my thoughts!

Not sure either. But it's definitely his style. Diverting and being disgusting. I honestly can't imagine anyone being more brazen. He wouldn't look over the evidence. He has such huge confidence - after all these years. He's never been held accountable for anything he did to those women who came forward. He literally thinks he's untouchable. It's just my opinion. He's got away with it for decades using lies. That's why they call them confidence cons. But in this case he has murdered too. IMHO.

I've read the message a few times now, and I don't see it as someone who is a troll or wants to upset anyone.
I really think they believe that Marion may have died in either of these two places.

Over the years various WS members have come up with places they thought Marion might be buried at and as far as I can remember nobody thought those posts were insensitive or someone trying to cause trouble.

I have a feeling that whoever posted that message may be genuinely surprised at the reaction they received :(

I totally agree with above two posts - either/all could be right.

My thoughts were entirely driven by this comment on the FB post by J: "We are aware of who the sender is, they have been firmly reminded twice that this is an inbox of the daughter of a missing person. There are other descriptions that are actually worse than the above from this sender and others - this is a regular occurrence."

What a despicable thing to deal with on top of everything. Potential for all sorts of mentally ill people. But I still believe this is AKA.

See latest post about how brutal this all is for Sally.

The whole Facebook page is out of control. From a legal perspective, the posts are more than enough for a defamation case by RB and the comments equally detrimental. I’m not sure how Sally copes seeing people wildly speculate in messages and comments about her poor mum’s body. Between this and the rift with the podcast I fear the case is going to start going backwards

The FB page have said it is not RB, there are plenty of unemphatic people around, even at the inquest the policewomen refer to Sally as "the daughter" the bank manager referring to MB as "a flip" so cringeworthy to most people but there are plenty of Aholes that are oblivious of the fact that they are Aholes
