Widow carried out 'two dry runs' in lead up to farmer's alleged murder: court

Widow Natasha Darcy carried out 'two dry runs' in lead up to farmer Mathew Dunbar's alleged murder: court

A widow accused of killing grazier Mathew Dunbar carried out "two dry runs" or "attempts of some sort" in the weeks leading up to his murder in the small town of Walcha on the state's northern tablelands, a court has heard.
Natasha Beth Darcy, 46, even allegedly goaded Mr Dunbar to kill himself, asking him whether "the rafters in the shed were high enough for him to hang himself," during a campaign of emotional manipulation.

In the first instance, he argued Mr Darcy had likely given Mr Dunbar an overdose of pills on June 21, 2017, but claimed to others it had been a suicide attempt.
After he recovered from this, Mr Hatfield told the jury they might find she was also responsible for injecting his calf with a ram sedative two weeks later - on July 7 - causing him a significant leg injury.

Thanks for the heads up, Dr S... I read yesterday, that she 'had a practice run' on him previously.. She was, if all this is true, a very untidy killer. Lots of goes at it, ...

Or maybe she liked the slow kill.. didnt she off her first husband over a period of time? ..

Since Mr Dunbar’s death, Mr Crossman has spent an increasing amount of time at the multimillion-dollar Merino property just a few minutes’ drive from the small town of Walcha, east of Tamworth.

It is understood Mr Crossman is looking after Darcy-Crossman’s three children, who had been living at the property prior to their mother’s arrest.

From 2017

THE mother of a NSW grazier who died in mysterious circumstances says she wishes she could speak to her son one more time, hug him and explain how much she loves him.

His mother Janet Dunbar, 74, believes her son was desperate to have family because he had been adopted and wanted to feel like he belonged.

“He just wanted to belong, he just wanted to belong to a family and be loved,” Ms Dunbar said.

Ms Dunbar’s relationship broke down with her son 20 years ago after she divorced his father John.
But she says she never stopped loving him, sending him birthday and Christmas cards and writing him piles of letters.

“I just love him so much and (if I could) I’d hug him and say, ‘Mathew all these years we’ve lost — I know we can never make them up but let’s stay in touch and help each other,’” she said, as tears welled in her eyes in the living room of her Walcha home.

Ms Dunbar said she could not accept her son was dead until she saw him at the funeral parlour and placed his blue, childhood teddy bear in his coffin.

She said her son was adopted in Newcastle three weeks after he was born and his biological mother had dressed him in a white and blue top with embroidered rosebuds and blue pants.

So Ms Dunbar placed the outfit next to her son when she said her final goodbye.

“I thought I would leave him with a bit of her and a bit of me,” she said.

A real life horror movie for poor Mathew :(

Its hard enough running a farm in Australia during droughts but then to have this ‘thing’ take over his life.

IMO it’s obvious she will be a serial murderer if she’s released because she has no remorse, it’s not her first rodeo.
She MUST not be allowed free.

She’s a human stain.

I hope the lot of them have been kicked to the curb. OUT! NOW!

Pandora was sold in March 2020
Landmark Boulton's conducted the sale of the 479-hectare property on behalf of the vendor, Lance Partridge, as the executor of the estate of Mr Dunbar.
Property at centre of alleged murder sold at auction

More than 50 people went to the property auction, held at Walcha Vets Supplies, including Mr Dunbar's mother, Janet Dunbar, who appeared visibly upset by the sale.

$4.65 million at auction

Imagine that dreg of humanity getting her claws into that?

Actually she nearly did if it wasn’t for the wonderful locals who jumped hoops to have her caught.

The first I’d heard about it was a call, by a concerned local to a Sydney radio station asking for help ‘because the cops wearing listening’.

I wonder if Mr C might have had some influence there?

What an appalling monster this woman is! She has previously found that with her blonde hair and smiles she could get away with (almost) anything. No more please - keep her away from people for the rest of her life - or maybe let her out at 95, and see where her looks get her then.

How I long for the day when jury trials, any trial for murder, or any trial for harm to the person up to murder is televised... 1/5th of the way thru the 21st century and look at us.. carrying on as if it were the 18th century, as far as the public broadcast of publicly paid for legal systems operate.

I agree Troop, one of the only things I wish we were like with the USA!

We have too many 'softies' in Australia who want to protect everyones identity and they'll use the children's identities as an excuse.

Explanation for ‘suspicious’ searches: court

Murder accused Natasha Darcy’s alleged internet searches could have other explanations, court told
Internet searches allegedly conducted by murder accused Natasha Darcy may look ‘suspicious’ but could have an innocent explanation, a court has heard.

Her defence barrister Janet Manuell SC told the NSW Supreme Court on Tuesday that Ms Darcy had only been living at Mr Dunbar’s farm for a few months when the mushroom and spider searches occurred in February and March 2017.

“Were there lots of redback spiders around the property?” Ms Manuell said. “Why wouldn’t Ms Darcy and (her family) want to know more about what they were seeing?

“What’s to say she wasn’t out in the property one day (with her family), using it to search for mushrooms or fungi they couldn’t eat, and those searches were made for that reason?

“When’s mushroom season around Walcha? There’s no evidence of that.”

She told jurors that while things might at first look “suspicious”, they had to consider if there were other reasonable explanations.
