It’s hard for me to think she killed herself as there is no evidence of her leaving, dying or laying deceased.
These are the hardest parts of the plan for a murderer to cover up and they seem to be executed perfectly in the heat of the moment in a disappearance suicide.... unlikeliest outcome. Unless she had help.
Perfectly executed plan?

Perfectly executed plan?
As in, no evidence of day or time of leaving, method of leaving, route taken, place of death, place of rest.

I wonder why they're not getting uploaded. Nothing published to the Fedcourt website since 22 February. Whereas the Christian Porter case, documents posted throughout March and today.

I don't think so. I did search. But as he's suing the ABC perhaps Tricia wouldn't be keen for us to start one.

New article and Court Delayed ....
Paraphrased from Daily Telegraph

ASIC needs more time to untangle the web of deceit left by the disappearance and suspected death of Melissa Caddick.

The case was expected to continue in the Federal Court next week but ASIC has revealed they have applied to the court to postpone the hearing.

ASIC said today that it needed more time as the financial affairs left by Ms Caddick, were complicated.

ASIC said its priority was to find and secure as much as possible for the 74 investors who have lost $23 million by trusting the businesswoman.

MC was investing their life savings for them and for herself and through her company Maliver Pty Ltd.

MC's death has not been confirmed despite her shoe / foot being found on February 21.

ASIC is preparing detailed evidence, in relation to the circumstances of funds being invested with Maliver Pty Ltd through Ms Caddick, as part of its Federal Court action,

ASIC has applied to the Court to move the hearing of this proceeding set for 7-8 April 2021, in order to allow time to complete preparation of this comprehensive evidence.

“ASIC’s priority is to facilitate, through court action, the return of funds to Maliver Pty Ltd investors as efficiently as possible.”

A new court date is yet to be set.

It would be interesting to know if, when ASIC applied for an extension, if they also approved the Liquidators??
Or does this also mean they cant sell the assets yet either?
Or will they all turn up to Fed Court on the 8th to pass this, and formally get the extension granted??

Good questions, SLouTh but there are no answers - yet.

IMO the Liquidators should be approved in the meantime as the new date may be many months away and the mortgages were only paid up to March.

IMO there is no reason to delay the sale of the two properties unless the parents have a valid claim to remaining at Edgecliff. But because their claimed deposit was only $1m, if the property is now worth up to $3m minus mortgage payments paid with the proceeds of crime, there is no way that they could stay there unless AG can come up with the full difference which I doubt. He does not seem to be employed so he could not service a mortgage either.

However, this seems to need to addressed in a court of law so if the date of April 7-8 has been cancelled since, it looks as if everything will be on hold until further notice.

How do you interpret this?

ASIC is preparing detailed evidence, in relation to the circumstances of funds being invested with Maliver Pty Ltd through Ms Caddick, as part of its Federal Court action.

Does this mean that so far ASIC have only examined funds invested and spent in the name of Melissa Caddick and not Maliver Pty Ltd?

Also are they planning to go back to 2009 when her fraudulent behaviour began or only to when Maliver was first incorporated in
18/06/2013?

"Circumstances of funds being invested"--perhaps exploring whether someone else might be liable?

Could mean they are looking at where the invested client funds came from. Where they originated. Ensuring that they came from legitimate sources, and not illegal sources or laundering sources or other illegitimate sources.

I imagine this is just procedural. To ensure that they don't give money back to investors if the money came from illegitimate sources.

Just crossing their 't's and dotting their 'i's.

Well that will be quite expensive, wont it?

I was thinking how far back do you trace it? Client earns money as an employee of business which receives revenue from diverse clients who obtained their money over an average of fifty years from----

It shouldn't be difficult. If a client produces their previous Superannuation statement showing the withdrawal, that will show where the correlating funds came from.
From their previous Super, perhaps then to their own account, and then on to Melissa.

It is just a simple audit trail, not a major investigation.

I did say liability but I was thinking fairly generally about a range of things. Whether the tax structure of the investments would have any relevance to the investors' entitlements including to compensation and if so whether the structure really was legally what the clients thought. Whether there's any more to be looked at regarding the licence number--how long was that used, with which investors, how long did the licence-holder know about the misuse and did she react immediately and appropriately when she found out. What the arrangement was with the insurance person.
