Found Deceased Australia - Melissa Caddick Missing After Australian SIC Raid - Sydney (NSW) - Nov 2020 #9

  • #61
The Dover Heights home of missing fraudster Melissa Caddick sold on Friday afternoon after a one-month sales campaign and ahead of its original expressions of interest deadline on Monday.
The sale price was not disclosed by the court-appointed receiver of Caddick’s assets, Bruce Gleeson, but for the sake of Caddick’s victims it was hoped to sell for more than $10 million.

. . .

“Until settlement has occurred, we will not be disclosing the sale price. However, we believe the sale price achieved is a strong result given the current market conditions and will make a significant contribution towards the pool of funds available for investors.”

. . .

The property is not expected to have reached the high expectations of Caddick’s husband Antony Koletti, a hairdresser and sometime DJ.

And, judging by the second photo, possibly amateur astronomer. Not that I have anything against that--I'd love to be able to view the southern sky, including objects such as Eta Carinae, the Magellanic Clouds, and SN 1987A which are invisible or impractical to view from the continental U.S. or Hawaii. I know Sydney may not be very dark-sky, but it's a start.

Note to Mr. Koletti: Please drop the entitlement and pretension, and acquire some humility--it's free. Be grateful for the price you're getting, and show some compassion for your wife's victims, because you're one of them. Thank you very much.

My guess is that the telescope is, along with the furniture, a prop provided by the company used by the selling agent to spruce up the place for sale. Also, it's not uncommon for such houses with harbour views to have telescopes.

Lachlan Gyles, SC, representing the NSW police, has been told by the coroner to stop asking Anthony Koletti leading questions. Gyles has asked: You're not very numerate, are you? You didn't win any academic prizes at school? You were at the bottom of your class, weren't you?
Not very nice. AK might be a "bit behind the 8 ball", but that's not his fault.

Is there evidence that Melissa was stashing the stolen money? Because from what I understand she spent it all on designer brands and high living. Is there a heap of cash unaccounted for?

At dinner I asked 5 adults if they would cut off a foot for $40mil and surprisingly, with not much hesitation, they all said ‘mmm, yes’.

If she is alive, how could she do this to her elderly parents?
Her friend and fitness coach said MC is a narcissist and would fake her death in a heartbeat.

The 60 Minutes program content was better than I expected.

It's interesting to learn -- late in the day -- that the liquidator has uncovered a share portfolio that he says is "quite significant. Otherwise, as for a victim 'payday', I'm thinking that, after all expenses, the net amount from the sale of cars, house, jewellery and clothing may not reach $10 million.

There was also $4M in a trust account for the son. I wonder if they have been able to touch that.

If she was trustee for that account then my guess is that it would also be considered funded by the proceeds of her fraudulent activities. It will be interesting to know how that pans out.

On November 22 Shapiro Auctions will put Caddick’s art collection on sale, which includes an original John Olsen watercolour titled Giraffes & Wet Season, 2000. It’s tipped to bring in more than $25,000.

. . .

On December 5 and 6, Shapiro will then sell-off Caddick’s designer items including dozens of handbags, frocks, coats and ballgowns from major luxury labels including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Christian Dior, Hermes and Collette Dinnigan.

Early December is also when Caddick’s extensive treasure trove of jewellery will go to auction further down Queen Street at Smith & Singer. This collection features huge, custom-made diamond, emerald and sapphire necklaces by her favoured jeweller Stefano Canturi. Each is valued at up to $500,000 dollars.

By the accounts we have from AK being the last witness she seemed “normal” which is sus for 2 reasons- she can’t have been normal because ASIC has accused her of serious crimes for starters, but also because AK says she seemed ok. One of them was lying

The more I watch Koletti talking to police and ASIC staff the more I believe that he is very inclined to try to dismiss/diminish things that he doesn't comprehend in order to try to appear as though things are normal and under control, but he isn't good at it.

He admitted to police that he had lied to people about his own movements. He is easily flustered when confronted with the inconsistencies of his own statements, as we saw at the inquest.

i do wonder if she had good intentions and she got out of her depth and didnt intend to lose peoples money
The same lady who doctored cheques in her very first job? I don't think so.

Are you sure these people are the best friends for you?

Interesting tidbit from today's DT:

A tradesman who worked was brought in to spruce up the property for its recent sale told The Daily Telegraph that even the floorboards in the kitchen and living area had been ripped up as part of the search for missing Caddick.

Which may have also served as a search for any missing millions.
