I live directly in this area, and only heard about this yesterday.

Michael Ryan, 14, was last seen in the Landsborough area on 7 August.

His bike was found in Mooloolah Valley on 17 Aug, near where his phone last pinged.

There is lots of bush land, farm land and national park land in the area but I don't consider it to be remote in any way.

Desperate search for missing boy, 14, who was last seen riding a black and yellow bike NINE days ago - as police send helicopters to scour bush land

Police have sent out helicopters to scour a bush land in a desperate attempt to find a missing teenager who was last seen nine days ago.

A body believed to be that of a 14-year-old boy missing in the Sunshine Coast hinterland has been found.

The body was found on Wednesday in dense bushland in Dularcha National Park, police said.

Formal identification is yet to be finalised.

Police believe it is Michael Ryan, 14, who was last seen in Landsborough on August 7.

“Our thoughts go out to Michael’s family and friends as well as everyone involved in the search during this difficult time,” they say in a statement. The search had been focusing near where the teenager’s bike was found on Saturday in bushland near the small town of Mooloolah Valley. The bike was found close to the spot where his mobile phone last recorded a signal around the time he vanished.

Police will now be preparing a report for the coroner.
