A few interesting bits of info …

- A fully transected carotid (artery) would cause a 70 lb adult male to exsanguinate in less than 8 minutes (but would likely die before then - unconsciousness, cardiac arrest ).

- If an external jugular vein is cut, then maybe you bleed to death within about 5 minutes.

- It takes about 2 minutes to bleed to death if the internal jugular vein is cut which is larger than the external jugular vein and the victim is in a lying down position as body posture greatly affects the rate of blood loss.

- Even a loss of 30% of your intravascular (blood) volume is enough to result in syncope which could be lethal in itself.

- Air bubbles can also enter the jugular veins when cut causing an air embolism which can also be lethal.

- Pressure applied to the bleeding site can substantially reduce the amount of bleeding and therefore potentially save someone's life.

May help to explain the documented narrow window of the attack and theft (2:55-3:10am).

If JR heard noises from Morgan, he had not yet lost consciousness (syncope), so the wounds could have been very fresh when she found him.

I'm like a grumpy, sleep deprived toddler after the daylight savings change.

Anyway, I still think their timeline is a bit dodgy. If they only interviewed him a week before his arrest, how could he be contacted at a later date to have his glasses seized then wear prescription sunnies at work for 2 weeks?

We were speculating that the sunnies could have been worn from right after the murder. Regular glasses broken on the night of the attack? Or as FigTree said, bruising around his eyes (if Morgan tried to fight back) which needed concealing? Or maybe he even lost/left his glasses that night.

We’re not sure where the glasses were ‘found’ – just assuming they were found during a search of DJK’s home. But it could have been other evidence found at DJK’s home … the satchel, Morgan’s money, bloody clothing. Could be that the glasses were part of the evidence in Morgan’s bedroom that they were gathering DNA from men and women to test.

If DJK was disturbed during the attack, he could have rushed out without them, if he had taken them off for whatever reason. Or they fell off in the courtyard if he jumped the courtyard wall to flee the scene.

But, yes, the timeline is not very clear … probably intentionally IMO.

- Air bubbles can also enter the jugular veins when cut causing an air embolism which can also be lethal.

- Pressure applied to the bleeding site can substantially reduce the amount of bleeding and therefore potentially save someone's life.

Couple of points about the above:

A completely transected carotid artery will bleed - a lot - but the cut ends will retract and tend to constrict - hence a fair few minutes before death. Also, from a stab wound, it is much less likely to injure the carotid. But an incised wound of the carotid (cut but not transected) will bleed much more, and death will be much more rapid.

A transected internal jugular vein will cause large blood loss fairly quickly - but at much lower pressure. It's like a big hose with plenty of volume but not much pressure, as opposed to the carotid which is like a smaller hose but at high pressure. The veins are capacitance vessels (volume) as opposed to arteries which are conductance vessels (pressure and flow). The risk of air embolism by air getting into the internal jugular would require the victim to be in a head up position.

The external jugular is highly variable in size, is much smaller than the internal jugular, and can always be stopped just by applying GENTLE pressure (it's a low pressure vessel). I've never yet seen anyone bleed to death from an external jugular vein injury, and I'd argue that the "5 minutes" quoted is WAY off the mark - I suspect they're basing that on theoretical volume loss - which doesn't actually happen.

Given the time Morgan took to die - and we've discussed this previously - I suspect that a stab managed to hit his internal jugular vein - an incised wound - and he bled out over a fair amount of time. By the time he was found - in a "pool of blood" which would have been sticky and clotted, he had probably lost a significant volume already. An IV line with volume replacement was hopefully tried by the paramedics, but he obviously couldn't be resuscitated, so must have lost too much blood volume and gone into an arrhythmia such as ventricular tachycardia (VT) or fibrillation (VF). With ongoing bleeding and not enough volume, it is very difficult to get that to revert.

JMHO, but now...I don't think this was any sort of pre-arranged meeting, as per the LE party line. I think that if there was, it would have been immediately evident from the phones/pub workers. I think that DK was stalking MH, and if MH was hesitant before leaving the Oaks, it was simply because he was hoping that the bar girl might change her mind about her home work load (as reported in MSM) DK ran up to MH, engaged him with a friendly greeting, and then the rest is history.

What really saddened me were the quotes he then listed in his profile, eg 'We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when she found out we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.' DJK clearly felt marginalised and I guess this anger built up over time. Who better to take it out on than a popular guy like MH.[/QUOTE]

The Lamant profile info is very compelling! However, what makes us certain that its the same person? Is it definitely his photo? I don't get t, because any Sydney-sider knows the extortionist cost of a one-bedder, and I can't really imagine that the gay capital of the world would turn down a gay couple who had the cash up front for a bond and deposit?

What I mean is, its freaking expensive to rent even a studio in Sydney, so for a humble 20 yr old unqualified fantasy enthusiast/possible cash job dishwasher even with the combined power of two incomes...(with WHOM??? An imaginary boyfriend with the means to pay the rent on a one-bedder?) maybe this is all a fantasy and it is DK..Damn! This is so, so (I have to admit) deliciously confusing!

Sorry, after re-reading the quote I realise I may have it wrong, if "Lamant" is "quoting" someone else's comment in his profile. Apologies!

I was thinking that too, enzeder, but went for turning the corner near the Oaks as I am pretty sure he was seen walking toward the Oaks, not away from.. but I could be wrong, there. I'm thinking he wandered past, spotted Morgan alone and ducked into the alley to pace around and get his courage up or something.

Yep, Mrs. G. I think it is no coincidence at all that he was lurking there minutes prior to Morgan leaving. Also, Morgan appears not to have known about it. Nuff said there.

I do not believe Morgan knew DJK was trailing him, until DJK spoke to him at the lights.
BBM

Here's another mention of DJK following MH. I wonder where he was exactly to be 100 metres behind MH?

"As Morgan Huxley took what would be his final steps, a figure walks 100 metres behind him. A man dressed in chequered pants and a long-sleeved black chef's jacket starts to quicken his pace.

When he reaches the Oaks Hotel on Military Road in Neutral Bay, he breaks into a jog. Then he runs. The ginger-haired man is carrying a satchel over his shoulder and catches up to Huxley, who is waiting at a set of traffic lights."

I thought the interview was around September 22, the same day his Facebook was frozen in time, glasses and satchel taken, DNA tests done to see if that was Morgan's blood .. leaving two weeks until October 8 for him to be wearing prescription sunnies inside ..

I thought September 22 too, but now we have a different source in msm saying police spoke to him for the first time in early October.

Btw guys remember Rachael Moritz, who went missing earlier in the year? Her car was used in a murder and she had links to bikie gangs? She has appeared in court with her boyfriend on drug charges. I couldn't find her old thread.

I'm on my phone so I'll come back later with links, but I definitely read that police went to djk's house and seized the satchel and glasses at the same time.
