There are only a few possibilities that I can see.

1. They have found Lesley (despite saying otherwise).
2. They have been looking in the wrong spot/dump, and have gone back to the drawing board.
3. Lesley was removed from the rubbish truck at some point before the truck went to the rubbish collection depot.

Could it be possible, something of interest has been found, and a closer forensic look may be conclusive enough to not search the landfill further?
If they found forensic evidence that proves Lesley is at the tip, I would have thought that would give them more impetus to keep going until they find her.

Unless they HAVE found her and don't want to announce it yet; wouldn't that be something.

Edit: It looks like SouthAussie and I had the same thought. It would be amazing if they have found Lesley.

10 detectives still on the case. There must be something significant that they are investigating, something that requires 10 detectives. Perhaps they are piecing together a 'no body' case.

"A team of 10 detectives remain committed to solving the disappearance of Ms Trotter," Det Massingham said.

A team of 10 detectives remains on the case with strong hopes that, even though her body will likely never be found, the mystery of her death could still be solved.

Seems that is what they are thinking SouthAussie No Body likely to be found.

But maybe they have something to indicate what likely happened and by who?? MOO

Hello,

I've put a screenshot regarding my verification update as a neighbour. EDIT: I just saw my verification was posted above by Sillybilly - thank you.

We, in the neighbourhood, are all shocked, disappointed and a bit frightened to hear about the suspended search news. My first thought was, 'I hope this is strategic!'

Some things I've noticed this week:

- Police presence:
Early morning police (wearing hi-viz 'POLICE' vest) on bicycle patrol on Tuesday approx 5.45 am coming down Sherwood Rd (turned left from Woodstock St). I've never seen that before and I'm a regular 'early bird' walker (no, I didn't see/hear anything on Tuesday 28 March 2023; yes, I have been interviewed multiple times by police). It was good to see police presence.

- Lesley Posters:
More Lesley- missing posters removed. I haven't seen anymore on my usual routes. I felt a bit sad, but pragmatically she's not considered lost anymore, so it is expected.

- Rubbish Truck Info:
I think the rubbish truck driver on Maryvale & surround streets route is different. Before, and on that fated Tuesday, the rubbish truck driver would beep the horn (a lot!), dump the bins down hard (so they would be tipped over after collection) and accelerate/brake hard. Now, it is a normal collection, a bit noisy but usual stuff. Either the original driver is traumatised by possibly picking up a corpse, has been moved for other reasons or maybe someone other than me complained about the antics.

- Shock trespasser:
Early this morning (approx 6.45am) I saw a man exit (presuming he cut through from) 52 Maryvale St and exiting to a property off Clayton Lane, that doesn't have dual access to Sherwood Rd. Now you might think 'so what?'. Well, it is a big deal because while Lesley was at No 52 no one dared to cut through her property; at least without her express permission.

-Police interviews:
Police are definitely still on the case! A previous neighbour of Lesley (a tenant who moved out of the complex over two years ago approx) was contacted by police this week and is due to be interviewed this morning (Saturday morning). Police haven't stopped investigating and are following even remote leads in the quest to discover what happened to Lesley.

I think I am imagining things because I thought I saw Lesley on her bike on Ascog Tce two days ago. It was a fit, elderly person standing next to their bike but I knew as I got closer it was not Lesley. To my credit it was around 5.30pm and quite dark. The silhouette was just like Lesley, same height & body type with a slight hunch. It's strange how the mind plays tricks.

Other than that, it's like nothing ever happened.

Take care.

Thank you and welcome, @neighbour4462.

Regarding the potentially different rubbish truck driver (I may be wrong on this so please, someone correct me if I am), I think one of the intended purposes of the internal camera is that the operator should be watching to make sure something like a person never goes into the rubbish truck in the first place.

Aside from the potential trauma to the driver, if there's the possibility that the driver wasn't paying proper attention... they might not have their job anymore.

I don't blame the driver, but how different this whole situation would have been if the driver had spotted Lesley that morning as the bin was being emptied into the truck, rather than her body being spotted days later when police presumably watched the footage.

Thank you very much, your infos are worth its weight in gold! :)

At least to me both observations are verrry interesting, if not also for LE.

I can't imagine, the reckless driver to be a sensitive worker, who is traumatised after the incident. Seems to be an uncontrolled, rough guy.

Leslie didn't live on the ground floor, afaik, but she still looked after/for unauthorized persons?

This is interesting, they are out on bikes the morning that bins are picked up. was that bin collection for this noted day the same type of rubbish that was being collected the day that she was allegedly picked up in a bin?

Just found this online regarding Cant Bankstown Council and a short presentation on the operation and cam in use. In this, the screens are not facing the driver and it mentions that the data is then analyzed later on by staff and any offending streets visited. I think it said it sets off an alert if it's not cardboard etc.

Its likely that data from the truck probably went through same process and was likely someone looking at the recordings in the office who spotted Lesley going in.

In saying this though, surely these cams would also send an alert for a body to the driver? that a body was detected or something not considered general waste?

Thank you for posting this. It looks to me like the video screen in the cab of the truck is on a moving arm, and is only turned away from the driver so the news crew can film it. In normal use I think it would be, or at least could be/should be viewed in real-time by the driver, in addition to being used for analysis at a later date.

And you're right. If it has sensors that can pick up "abnormal" waste, how on earth would a body not trigger something.

Maybe one day someone will talk.
Unless it was a terrible accident and she lost her balance and fell in.

But they do say the bin with her body in it was hidden, and then put out for collection

Both the general rubbish and the recycling was collected on Tuesday 28 March. Recycling is collected fortnightly and it was collected this past Tuesday 9 May. I didn't think about relevance of being rubbish bin day, although I did note it was Tuesday! Good spotting.

Good pick up on the screens I did not think of that.

I mean with this AI tech they are talking about, one would think that it would have some sort of scan detection of body parts. Unfortunately, it is a reality that these things do happen so why on earth would it have not set off an alarm or alert? I think it also said that it has GPS. This would make sense then as to why they were narrowing down a certain tip and found stuff from surrounding streets in the search. I was at our tip chatting to the guys today I did not even think to ask about cams and the trucks. Not sure we have them here. If this same tech that was installed at the Sydney council one I wonder if the alert was not heard or just ignored and it was only when they looked back in the office.

Those cameras are very good. I can see why police would know what Lesley was wearing.

I wonder if they were on the look out for someone who might regularly frequent the street on bin days....

You're most welcome, but I'm not sure my insights are that helpful. I guess its like a pair of eyes on the streets near where things took place.

I don't imagine rubbish truck drivers to be very sensitive either but who knows!

Lesley lived on the top floor but was body corporate president/secretary and was very much in charge at her complex. Nothing happened there without her say-so. EDITED TO ADD: She kept the place very well-maintained and tidy.

Has settlement been delayed on her unit or have the new owners taken the keys now?
