Why on earth would ANYTHING be released until they are certain that they are truly items of interest?
Lesley's family probably do not need this type of roller coaster. And probably should be told first, if anything is found.
It looked to me like 9 News “broke” the story and the QPS media release came next.

Unless they are trying to spur a potential POI into some action. And, if so, did they actually leave enough time between the two different types of announcements to spur that action?
Yes, you really would think they’d wait until they were sure before saying anything. And then to say the items they found weren’t relevant, only a couple of hours later, does seem really strange. Who knows what the truth is.

They probably need to keep the media well away from this search, prohibit their drones from flying over the site.

So, about 2½ hours between the two announcements. Come on QPS. I feel that someone has talked too much (even though we like to know every sneeze, here at WS :) ).

No further updates is good - unless/until they have something solid. I'd like to see reverence for Lesley, especially considering the way she is disposed.

Something I’ve been thinking about:
A neighbour said she would go to the bin twice a day sometimes.
I live in a three person house and we still don’t make enough rubbish to fill a single kitchen bin every day, let alone twice a day.

Hello everyone. I have been following along from Massachusetts.
There is case near me where a woman was found in her bin BEFORE
it went to the dump. I don't believe they have figured out what happened yet. I will have to review the case . I am trying to link here. It is the case of Barbara Hovey Novaes. JMO MOO

Have to agree. Even if it was tactical you would think at least a few days would have been between both announcements. Unless it was a media leak however I don't think this was the case. Realistically though her family and friends would definitely be feeling more pain

Maybe she went to the bin twice a day to sort or attend to any incorrect placement of items. Just an idea

Even other tenants living in small units likely wouldn’t produce rubbish that quickly though either?
To be checking what other tenants bins have in them twice daily is very committed to the cause. I wonder if LT had a touch of OCD?

There are plenty of reasons to take your garbage straight to the outside bins. We used to do it because we had pets who would get into the garbage if we left it inside. We also lived somewhere that if the slightest bit of anything was left out the kitchen would be covered in ants within hours, so everything went straight out. They even managed to get into our refrigerator! Also, some people are really sensitive to odours and may not want garbage in their home for longer than necessary.

MOO

Ohhh good points.
Did LT have pets? I don’t thinks so from memory of reports.
Was LT sensitive to smells? Could that have also been a potential reason to monitor bins/bin areas? Stop neighbours bins from getting manky cause she didn’t like it?
I’m assuming as the unit just sold there would have been the routine pest inspections and if there were pest issues they would have had to been treated prior to sale?
All accounts from neighbours suggest she was quite routine about her movements around the bins, so although would make sense if she removed rubbish as she created it, wouldn’t the attendance to the bin be more random/ sporadic or even more frequent if that was the case?

Maybe she could see from her window - when someone else was placing items in the bin - if she was into collecting recyclable items to cash in later. Maybe she knew certain tenants didn't bother with recycling and were regularly putting recyclables into the general waste and when she saw them from her unit she might have went down straight after to sort it out. From the high vantage point that may be possible!

This sounds likely.

I have a bin in my kitchen using a so called "green" plastic bin liner.

As Lesley seems to have been into things like recycling correctly, riding a bike,
maybe it went to the extent that she wouldn't even use any bin liners, including in the kitchen.

If they're talking about the recycle bin. I keep a teeny bin in the laundry, not a council one. I put anything in it that can go in the recycle. I transfer the contents later to the recycle bin.

Without those bins in the house I know I would be going to the bin more frequently.

Oh a reason for checking the recycle bin more often may be because she really needed the refund money as a bit extra.

I just thought that checking daily would ensure that she got all the recycling stuff, rather than having to search right down to the bottom every couple of weeks.

Now I'm thinking it wasn't strange behaviour at all. Or OCD.
And in my opinion the main reason most likely wasn't because things were in the wrong bins, it was because she needed that bit of extra money. And perhaps she had her pride, so wouldn't say it was because she needed it.

Maybe there was a draw to the bin area for some reason that does not necessarily involve recycling, but includes it? speculation, imo.
