The car next door is a Holden Captiva.

They aren't the same ute. The ute parked outside the Mt Nathan residence is a Ford F100. The one outside Candan Industries is an early 2000's Toyota Hilux. You can get a sense of scale from the Pulsar parked next to it, the F100 is a BIG ute, it would positively dwarf the Pulsar. From long range there are similarities (there are only so many styles in which you can design a cab chassis ute!), but I can assure you that they aren't the same car.

I'd say you have hit the nail on the head, police don't release information of that nature unless it is directly relevant to the case. They wouldn't have mentioned it if they had only met briefly at a party 10 years ago or anything like that. Of course not wanting to pre-empt anything but I'd say there is a significant connection between the 2.

Welcome JCB! :welcome4:

(though I must say it unnerved me for a moment when I saw your user name! :scared: :floorlaugh: .)

Great to have you on board.

Wow ... that is one BIG hole!!!

"I think burying a utility by itself raises suspicions. You have to wonder why they would do that," he said.

"We understand we believe why that occurred and we want to recover the vehicle first to substantiate our thoughts."

Detective Hutchinson said a male occupant of the house had links to Mrs Chardon's husband John, but declined to comment further on their relationship.

It's going to take a bit of work to replace all that landscaping when they are done, I wonder really if they have more information to go on that creates some link to that poor woman's body being buried there.

Great have to have you on board.

Thank you :) My username is the initials of my kids, in hindsight I should have arranged them differently given the nature of this topic!

I have to say that this whole case is extremely puzzling. Now I don't know JC from a bar of soap and while he comes across as a piece of work in the media, he definitely doesn't come across as stupid. Taking the kids overseas days after Novy went missing, a vehicle of interest being buried in suburbia and other various red flags... It just doesn't make any sense to me, surely someone of even moderate intelligence would understand that these actions would immediately draw attention to themselves.

It's in the back of my mind that this car could turn out to be a huge red herring, I've thought to myself that surely someone trying to dispose of a body would do it somewhat more surreptitiously than burying a car in a suburban backyard. It seems that only a murderer who isn't all there would try to conceal their crime in this manner, although perhaps I'm giving JC too much credit. Is it all an elaborate distraction? I guess we will find out soon enough.

.

What is with all the screen doors leaning against the garage/shed? Indications of the occupant's trade/occupation perhaps?

Some of it looks like part of the pool fence they've taken down, but there seems to be too much.

I have to agree ... I don't think the 🤬🤬🤬 is stupid, he has established a very profitable business from an invention of his own making, and by using skills to improve the lubricants so that they are now a product that is used worldwide.

But he is extremely arrogant - as well as an alleged child sex abuser - and was found with illegal weapons that he got from where exactly, from a good friend/associate who dabbles in such things? A smart person would have got himself a legal weapon IMO - if they found it necessary to have a weapon for some good and valid reason.

I think he uses people, and I think he uses people with less intelligence ... people who may think it is a brilliant idea to bury a car in the back garden, perhaps.

He himself admits that he hates authority, rebels and pushes the boundaries (he states this on his company website, from memory, ... an appropriate place - not). I just think he believes/believed he is above the law.

A lawyer representing the man at a Gold Coast home says the buried items in the backyard are not linked to the Novy Chardon case.@abcnews

Re the hole - there was report a few pages back of a water tower installation. I'd suggest that there was more likely talk of putting in an underground rain-water tank (am not far away) I put in 3 of those at my place and they're 4.5 metres across and 2 metres deep and that's not even buried. You'd need two tank-sized holes to take a ute. Whether talk of a rain-tank was just an excuse for why the hole was being dug, I cannot say.

Re the digger QPS are using - that's a toy compared what would usually be used to dig such a hole. That digger wouldn't go down deep enough. Hopefully they can get something bigger down the back today, if they're really serious.

Less than 10mins west along the main road there is a big rubbish tip - perfect for burning cars.

I chuckled at the mini excavator :) it's so cute, but that's all...

A good operator can be gentle enough to use a decent sized digger without concern about damaging a vehicle being uncovered.

I am picturing a full car being buried...

But.... maybe the car was dismantled... and the parts were buried?

Just a thought...

This news video says ...

Man who lives in house has denied any knowledge of Novy's disappearance
His solicitor is confident that the man will not be charged with anything
The white ute they are hoping to find was seen near train station where Novy's car was abandoned
So far they have found pieces of a black car, but not the white ute

http://au.news.yahoo.com/video/watch/21833901/breakthrough-in-novy-chardon-case/

I wonder if the white ute is the 'motorist' that was seen/heard, along with a moped, on the night Novy's car was dumped near Nerang train station.
