THE adult daughter of John Chardon has vehemently denied any suggestion her father was involved in the disappearance of her stepmother, saying “that is the biggest load of s — t I’ve ever heard”.
Speaking publicly for the first time about the case, Candice Chardon said the latest twist to Novy Chardon’s suspected murder last year had nothing to do with her dad.
“That is the biggest load of s — t I’ve ever heard,” Ms Chardon said after hearing for the first time that the backyard of a Mount Nathan property, where an associate of her *father lives, was being dug up.
“I still don’t believe he had anything to do with it.”
Ms Chardon, one of two children from Mr Chardon’s earlier marriage to Maureen, now lives with her father in the Upper Coomera house he shared with Novy and their two children — Alex, 7 and Channell, 9.
Yesterday, Ms Chardon said she had not spoken to police about the case since last year, when she was interviewed soon after Mrs Chardon, 35, disappeared in early February.

I'm so confused on the search. I thought I heard them say that they didn't find what they were looking for (I'm assuming the ute and/or Novy), yet they have apparently found part of the ute? I just got the feeling tonight that the police are not happy with how the search has turned out.

As others have said, let's hope the carpet is from the ute, and does contain some sort of evidence.

I hope that some of those car parts have the VIN stamped on them, so that they can identify who the vehicle(s) were registered to.

If the vehicle(s) prove to have been stolen, I expect some sort of charges could be laid.

I don’t think police will be very happy with whoever originally gave them the info about the buried ute if it turns out to be an (expensive) wild goose chase.

And it sure took the property resident long enough to be more helpful … and even then it seems it was only when police brought in equipment to detect where a car may be buried.

The locations of vehicle identification numbers (VIN) vary but the following are the common places to find them:

Firewall of the vehicle
Radiator Support Bracket
Dash by windshield
Left hand inner wheel arch
Steering column
Guarantee & Maintenance Book
Machined Pad on front of engine
Drivers door or post on passenger side
Component parts as listed above -e.g.- engine, frame, etc.

Later model years most common locations of the VIN:

Left instrumentation panel
Dash plate by window
Drivers door or post
Firewall

I feel so very sad and sorry for Novy's children.

I agree with you SouthAussie. This whole bizarre story with so obvious a motive and has been one very painful wait. One I can't easily let go of, and I'm not even related to any of the persons in this case. I doubt those kids can let a single minute of their lives go by without thinking:
Where is Mum?
Why is she gone?
Did she leave us?
Why haven't we heard from her?
Will we ever see her again?
Could something have happened to her?
Who could have done something to her?
Is she dead?

Heartbreaking....

Meanwhile, witness Karl Kristiansen said he saw a group of people acting suspiciously and clothes strewn around Mrs Chardon's late model Volvo wagon, which was found abandoned in Bowden Court, near Nerang railway station.

"It was about 10am on Sunday morning - there was a bit of activity going on," Mr Kristiansen said. "A balding, stocky bloke and a young woman were trying to jump-start a little white Corolla with a Falcon. They were looking across the road (at Mrs Chardon's car) and there was another older lady standing there, looking anxious.

"It looked suspicious, especially with all the clothes around the car. I just kept my eye on them."

This the one thing that I have read about the case that has always stood out for me. JC is a balding stocky bloke, the daughter AC is a young woman who had driven a white Corolla station wagon for her fathers business, the older woman could be his office manager who use to drive a blue Ford Falcon to the work site. I might be picking at straws here but to me it could be the reason why police are saying multiple people are involved. It doesn't surprise me why this has been such a cold case.

Another thing I found interesting is the "About Us" page on the Inox website http://www.inoxmx.com/about-us/ use to have a photo and description of who worked there, that was removed by my knowledge within days of Novy's disappearance, as I had checked this to see who was still working there. I could be wrong on this point as the page may have been removed earlier than that or it may have been removed to protect the identities of those working at the business. However I found it odd as it use to gush about how wonderful JC described Novy, his daughters and the staff. To me if you were at all concerned about Novy's disappearance changing the website would be one of the last things that you would be thinking about doing.

I really do feel for Novy and her family & friends. On the few times I had met with her she had always been such a wonderful person and host.

At the end of the day I am hoping the police find that one bit of evidence that puts beyond reasonable doubt what happened to Novy, and if she was harmed, who did it to her.

From your link Amee, you'll notice the date of Alex Bernhardt's tweet (see attachment below) was Wednesday 5 March. There was no interview yesterday or Wednesday for that matter. Alex tried to get the property owner to talk to her on Wednesday but he ignored her.

In the last part of that video clip they mention John Chardon was scheduled to be back from his business trip to Indonesia next week but has cut short his trip after being notified of the latest developments in the case and is now expected to be back in Australia later today (Friday).

A nice opportunity for a PR stunt IMO - very concerned husband hurries back to Australia....

I'm really glad they're happening, though!I see it this way -- even if all this backyard digging comes to nothing? It's all publicity for the case -- and we all know it's the squeaky wheel that gets the most resources thrown at it...

As for JC being allowed out of the country -- absolutely disgusting! I could NOT be more angry about that.

This is exactly what I thought for the longest time too ... that it was Chardon near the car on Sunday morning. But then fairly recently I realised that Chardon supposedly left the country on the Friday following Novy&#8217;s disappearance (before the Sunday morning shenanigans with Novy&#8217;s SUV).

So I can only presume that:
- Chardon did not actually leave the country on the Friday, just pretended to (I'd think police would know and would keep that info under their hat)
- Chardon did leave the country briefly, but turned around and flew back pretty much right away to clean up some things he forgot, then went back to Indonesia
- There is another balding, stocky guy involved in this crime, or at least as an accessory in the clean up after the crime.

According to her husband, she arrived home between 10.30pm and 11pm. Mr Chardon says he woke about 7am on Thursday February 7 to find his wife missing.
At 8.45am, he booked flights for his two children to join him on a pre-planned business trip to Indonesia. &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t find her. I couldn&#8217;t leave them home alone,&#8221; he told Fairfax Media.
The next day, he boarded a plane for Indonesia with his daughter and son.
It was a friend of Mrs Chardon&#8217;s from Sydney who reported her missing on Saturday, February 8.

Thanks SA - that's good to know the VIN can be on so many car parts. I never knew that (not that I'm planning on burying any car parts in the near future!). I so hope they find the VIN somewhere so more links can be made.

I do think there will be some very nervous people wondering how much the police found.
