A 27-YEAR-OLD man accused of killing Gold Coast man Greg Dufty is a cousin of pop star Ricki-Lee Coulter and a one-timestar.
Aaron Crawford was yesterday extradited from New Zealand, arriving at Brisbane Airport on Qantas Flight QF126 late in the afternoon before being taken away to be charged with the murder of 37-year-old father, Mr Dufty.
Police arrested Crawford in Auckland at the weekend and were granted the extradition order for him to face Brisbane Court this morning on charges of murder and interfering with a corpse.
Crawford first made headlines back in 2008 when he was mistaken for Coulters husband Jamie Babbington after appearing online in X-rated photos.
Crawfords cousin Lionel Patea, 24, is a co-accused charged with Greg Duftys murder and is also related to Coulter.
Police will allege the two were contracted to look after a drug debt owed by Mr Dufty, who was last seen at Ashmore on July 6.
Security camera footage shows Mr Dufty parking his hired utility at Ashmore Steak and Seafood restaurant at Ashmore before being picked up by a Mack truck on Ashmore Rd.
Police will allege he was then driven to a remote area at Mt Nathan where he was transferred to a waiting car.
Sources revealed this week Mr Dufty racked up the debt after meeting a group of men at a rugby club but was unable to pay it back.
Mr Duftys body has never been found and Pateas lawyer, Campbell McCallum, said his client denied the charges.
Patea, who was already in custody charged with the murder of his former partner Tara Brown, is due to face court again on November 11.
Detectives are still searching for Mr Duftys body and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
