Large parts of NSW are experiencing flooding, with more than 50,000 people preparing to evacuate. The Mid North Coast is bearing the brunt of this weather event, with Taree and Port Macquarie particularly hard hit.

Third body found in floodwaters as tributes flow for 'selfless hero' David Knowles

Police have confirmed two bodies, believed to be those of missing people, have been recovered from floodwaters on the Mid North Coast today. Further south at Moto, residents say they are devastated by the loss of Mr Knowles, whose body was found on Wednesday.

Warragamba Dam is expected to spill. SMH saying 'in the next few days'. Personally, I'm expecting to wake up tomorrow and hear that it's spilling. It's past 3am here and it's still raining.

I just hope my cousin's caravan is out of range of whatever flooding results downriver. It's her home, and it doesn't move. Also, she has horses and fowl and there's no way she'd leave them.

Australia floods: Three dead, one missing in record NSW floods

A natural disaster has been declared after four months of rain fell in two days.

The record rainfall, now declared a natural disaster, was caused by a slow-moving area of low pressure and is greater than any in living memory for some residents, according to the Commissioner of the State Emergency Services.

More than 2,000 emergency service workers are attending rescues, including of people who were stranded on rooftops overnight.
