Thank-you to Tom McIlroy at the Canberra Time for keeping an eye on this story and reporting the new updates in the media in Australia! :seeya:

Coordinated by New South Wales Police, the search comes a week before 18 volunteers arrive from Canada to help locate the Bond University law student and army reservist.

The 30-person search was abandoned on June 1 ahead of heavy winter snowfall.
Mr Srawn's cousin Ruby Singh said on Monday the family was realistic about the likely outcome, but was grateful for the resources allocated by authorities.
-----
"Obviously this has been a very difficult time and it has been very hard on all of us," she said. "We’re hoping that they will be able to hopefully find Prabh soon and we can put this behind us.
-----
She said a week-long small scale search could be followed by a larger operation.

The New South Wales police have started search operations again, a week before 18 volunteers arrive from Canada to help locate the missing Bond University law student, The Canberra Times reported Monday.
-----
"We've put together a team of volunteers and we were hoping to deploy them after the police search was over and resolved, but unfortunately the police search had to be delayed, so some of it is going to overlap, to begin next week," she said.

Have satellite pictures of the days he went missing ever been analyzed?

Have satellite pictures of the days he went missing ever been analyzed?

Im not sure Elainera - Prabhdeep was missing for a week before he was actually reported Missing :( I haven't seen anything in the early reports about satellite photos from the exact time he disappeared. (Though I could be wrong). Will have to check the timeline links. Though on that day there was clouds and rain in the afternoon - so maybe satellite wasn't useful.

I hope this new search is fruitful for them.

It doesn't necessarily have to be from the exact same day he went missing. If not covered by trees his jacket or backpack or whatever he had with him might be visible as colored dot.

Of course - sorry - yes you're right.
Hopefully now the snow has gone/going it would be possible to do that - especially the red jacket he was said to be wearing. It maybe possible to view from a satellite picture.
The police are invovled in this next search, so hopefully they can spare a few more helicopter runs - and even use the drones again (the weather clouded over so they had to be grounded).

I just hope that even people bushwalking keep a look out for anything - in what ever area they are in.
:please:

If they don't find him, I am thinking Prabhdeep may have possibly traveled way outside the area of the searches, and if he was healthy and able he could have walked away from the Charlottes Pass and not towards it.
:dunno:

Just wondering, has voluntary disappearance ever been brought up in this case?

I'm so pleased that there is a new co-ordinated search underway for Prabhdeep and I'm sure his family are glad it has stared as well. It must have been the longest months of there lives waiting for things to begin again in Australia.

Quotes below from the Canberra Times News dated 27th November 2013

Two days after recommencing a ground search for the 25-year-old who has been missing since May 13, Monaro Local Area Command Superintendent Rod Smith said police and National Parks and Wildlife Officers were contending with some snow in the search area.

“We are recommencing the search in a limited capacity, using some specialist services available to us.

He said SES volunteers were on standby for a broader ground search and that visitors to the area were being asked to remain vigilant.

He said police had “an open mind” to the possibility that Mr Srawn’s body may not be in the search area.
“All of the information that we’ve got, firmly point us in the direction that we have concentrated our search but of course, we are open to the fact that he may not be in that particular area which is problematic because it is such a massive, vast area.”

With the Police asking for hikers in the Kosciuszko National Park area to keep an eye out - I was hoping to post a picture of a Red and Black 'Frog Togg' ski jacket the same as Prabh was wearing when he disappeared ...
But there are so many of them online I wasn't sure which one it was :(

If anyone knows (for certain) what the jacket looks like - could you post a link or a photo - it might help hikers and searchers if they come across clothing.
Thankyou so much in advance.

Prabh was also said to be wearing a White T-shirt, blue jeans and a Grey Fleece checked Hooded Jacket.

The Picture below is of the exact style and colour of the Grey Fleece jacket Prabh purchased on the 13th May.
He was wearing/had this jacket when he went missing as well as the 'Frog Togg' Red & Black Ski Jacket.

Family of missing Canadian continues the search

Cousin Ruby Singh-Sahota says the Australian winter is over and plans are on for more search missions.
-----
Prabh’s deeply anguished mother Devinder speaking to Can-India from her Brampton home said, “I won’t be at peace and neither will I rest until we find out what happened to my son, every time the phone rings or someone comes to the door, my heart pounds.”
-----
His sister Mandeep who is spearheading the campaign to find her brother says, “It is indescribably painful. We’ve tried to remain faithful and hopeful. If we don’t find him, we’ll always keep searching, it’ll never end. As much as we don’t want this to be the end of Prabh’s life, we need to know, so that it gives us closure. We won’t ever get over it, but at least we’ll learn to cope with it over time. However, without knowing for sure, we’ll be stuck in this rut.”

-----

Prayers for the Family and friends of Prabhdeep.
I'm sure he will be found - and soon.
Keep the hope in your hearts.

Just wondering, has voluntary disappearance ever been brought up in this case?

Elainera - I came across this today from the CanIndia News Report. Read more ...

The family has also discounted the possibility that he could’ve intentionally disappeared and changed his identity by hiring a private detective who ruled that theory out. The search for Prabh continues and the family and hundreds of friends and an unknown number of people following the search on social media wait in bated breath for some answers.
-----

I've also thought about Prabh disappearing voluntarily - but the only way I could imagine someone so close to their family and their studies would do that maybe was if it was some Military request, or operation. But how unlikely is that?
Ive thought he may have even made his way down to the road (in the snow storm) and accepted a lift and someone has driven him out of the area<modsnip>, thinking he was being driven back to Charlottes pass.
I even thought he may have missed the road and walked across the other side and got lost trying to make his way back.

So many scenarios.
I hope they are close to finding out what happened.
Any clue would be something.
At the moment there is very little (from what is known and reported).

More news on some of the Search & Rescue Team heading to Australia from Canada

Nelson Star News - Cananda. Read More...
2nd of december 2013.
Two members of Nelson Search and Rescue chosen for elite team
Brian Cooles and Ryan Brown left last week to join a team of 18 BC-based search and rescue members who will be searching from November 30 to December 15.

Murray Springman, search manager for Nelson Search and Rescue, said the fact the two members of the Nelson crew were selected show the level of talent and expertise the local team has.

“There was an email sent to every search and rescue volunteer in the province,” explained Springman.

The email asked them to list all qualifications and experience. From that, the top 18 people were chosen to make up the team.

The crew is now in New South Wales, Australia looking for any signs of 25-year-old Brampton man Prabhdeep Srawn.

All the very best of luck with your search!
