The Crown prosecutor wiped away tears and members of the public gallery were overwhelmed by emotion as Mr and Mrs Yeo read out their statements.

Mr Yeo said he thought the sun rose every morning because of Rachelle.

Rachelle's brother, Kevin Yeo, said his sister died before she was able to be an aunt to his daughter.

He said his other two-year-old child asked him why nana cried all the time.
"I said because nana is heartbroken," he told the court.

Mulvihill sat stony faced, barely moving as the statements were read out.

Sentencing has been adjourned until April 3.

I HATE it when these murdering guys don't step up and admit their selfish act. Instead the family must go through hell, sitting through the trial and making victim impact statements. It's a scene we've seen so many times before. :(

My thoughts are with the Yeo family.

Earlier on Thursday, Celine Carroll, an ex-wife of Mulvihill, told a sentencing hearing in the NSW Supreme Court that Mulvihill terrorised her for a few years after their 1991 divorce, following an 18-month marriage.

He had made death threats, including leaving a "goodbye and good luck" card with a bullet in it at her house, she said.

On another occasion, Ms Carroll said she arrived home with a friend and Mulvihill was in her bedroom.
"He was yelling out 'I'm going to kill you,"' Ms Carroll said.

On a third occasion, the court heard, Mulvihill was waiting outside the lifts at her unit block and when she came out of the lift, he grabbed her around the neck and said, "we need to talk".

Been wondering what the heck is going on with Mulvihill's sentencing.

They sure are giving him a long time to walk around as a free(ish) man! Last court date for the sentencing hearing was 4th April.

Too bad Rachelle didn't have that liberty!! :(

Former rugby player Paul Darren Mulvihill has been sentenced to at least 22 years in jail for the stabbing murder of his former lover Rachelle Yeo, an attack which the judge described as "sustained and vicious".

Justice Fullerton sentenced Mulvihill to a maximum of 29 years with a non-parole period that makes him ineligible for release until February 5, 2035 (with time served).

Justice Fullerton said the young woman would have experienced "extreme terror" during the crime, and "an indescribable trauma when she knew that there were people trying to help her on the other side of the door".

Members of Ms Yeo’s family gasped as the sentence was handed down, before crying and hugging each other in relief.

“Rachelle didn’t deserve to lose her life – she didn’t deserve to be stalked or hunted or beaten or killed,” Ms Yeo’s father, Roger, said outside court.

“Rachelle’s message was that she didn’t love him anymore, she wanted him to leave her alone and go away. But her decision wasn’t respected. Nor was the decision of Lisa Harnum, nor was the decision of Kitty Duncan, or Victoria Comre Cullen, Kristie Camilleri or Margaret Tannous or Mariqa Anness or any of the other many many women who find themselves in similar situations.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national...ulvihill-video-message-revealed-on-60-minutes

A chilling video message has revealed how a man convicted of stabbing his former mistress to death tried to spin the brutal crime as an accident.

The video, revealed on 60 Minutes, was recorded by Paul Mulvihill in March just days before a jury found him guilty of the "vicious" July 2012 murder of Rachelle Yeo.

Yeo, 31, was stabbed in her apartment on Sydney's northern beaches so savagely that she lost almost all the blood in her body.

But Mulvihill, 46, filmed the video for one of his daughters in an attempt to try and deflect the blame for the crime from himself.

He is a psychopath. My 13 year old's advice for Teresa is to "get divorced and move overseas to get away from him". Simplistic thinking, but he is a danger to her. I wasn't surprised to read rape and sexual assault allegations against him from the late 80s.
