This is a case I followed from a couple of years ago

THE girlfriend of a missing Mount Gambier ice dealer, feared murdered, yesterday revealed he owed about $100,000, had been bashed and received a death threat.
http://www.theherald.com.au/story/2129059/missing-drug-dealer-owed-100000-feared-for-life/

a quick sleuth on google and there are many like this with amounts from the thousands, to hundreds of thousands....

Thanks for posting up the link. I suppose it's possible, but drugs usually have to be paid for before they are able to get more to supply? Maybe he bought $100,000 worth to distribute and have to collect on, and didn't come through? I read recently that one lady kicked her $1,000 per day Ice habit, so there's big money involved in it.

The only motive that I can see for them taking Sam out would be if he was selling to their regulars. I don't think they are high enough in the chain to be making an example out of him because of debt.

obviously my opinion only

I think the term we can use here, hero to zero. AD seeks out violence, someone was going to die by his hand!

I wouldn't have called him a hero originally. I never did buy his ISIL story, it all sounded a bit suss to me.

The other thing I was thinking about was ... if he owed them so much money, then they may have owed the person(s) above them that kind of money - which they did not have now. So they tried to shake Sam up, in the home invasion, they stole his goods, they told the person(s) above them. And Sam reported to police (deadly mistake).

Then it boiled down to 'well you take him out then, or we'll take you out. Can't have him living the high life freely, on my money'. So they did the horrible deed, and they were so green and inexperienced that they were caught. Very quickly.

The person(s) above them must be chuckling to themselves and thinking "chimps!"

The only other reason i can think of about why they murdered Sam would be if they thought he was a narc, (police informant), which they will also kill you for.
People that do drugs and involved in drugs are doing criminal activities, and when on drugs get very paranoid.

it still baffles me that they are all so young.

Also if the motive was that Sam owed money what is the point in killing him as they still don't have their money?

To ensure that others in their 'industry' don't think about doing the same thing ... not paying for the product that has been fronted to them. Seems they had been waiting for a while, given the date of the confrontational home invasion.
They can take a person out to forgive the debt. But that is pretty much the only way the debt is forgiven.

Yes, these were very young bucks to be dealing in such large sums and in such a volatile business. There is no fooling around, it seems. And now one is dead, two are facing murder charges .....

Exactly. Guess they are Losers all the way round if guilty, they can now languish in jail at the taxpayers expense for a long time to come.

I have zero tolerance for drugs and dealers but can't help feeling sorry for the families left in the aftermath. Just a volatile and horrid cycle all round.

I have great empathy for the families, too. These boys were/are not even of an age where they had fully mentally matured, as that age is around 25 - for males - according to medical studies and papers.

There are SM photos of Sam enjoying concerts with his rockin' dad, and other happy family photos (of RB, too). They will miss the happy times with their sons, and wonder how it all went so wrong.

They both seem like they come from very loving homes where they were adored. RB went to a private school and I would imagine his parents would have thought he was destined for great things. Sam represented his sport at a state level and no one seems to have a bad word to say about him. Just so sad.

Just caught up! Glad to learn there's been two arrests since I last logged on. Sam's paid the ultimate price, now put those who're responsible for his death where they belong! :jail: A very sad state of affairs all round! :(

Thanks to all who've posted links/info. Much appreciated.

Newish article ... not much new in it. Except this pic of Dyball in Syria where he claims to have joined Kurdish YPG militia to fight. I wonder if this is a fact that the Aussie govt was able to confirm? As I wonder why they threatened him so much with prosecution - and 25 years in prison - for being in Syria ... if he was on the side of the 'good guys'. Unless maybe they just don't want our unprotected citizens over there, regardless. Because they are unable to confirm anything much about their position there.

And a comment I hadn't noticed anywhere before from Sam's dad saying "He always had a big smile on his face, always happy. He was a lover, not a fighter."

Hopefully some good will come from all of this and those on the periphery of this situation will have a massive wake up call.

The young...invincible. ....stupididly ..... still feel the need of Social Media to exist, to feel important .... and those links are are already set in cyberstone....

Police will already know all associates .... it took all of about 5 minutes for me to link one of his friends who posted a comment on one of Sams pics .... and this guy obviously is quite chummy with the accused murderer ... as it will be for all persons police can link...

Police will not simply stop at a murder conviction when they suspect other people pursuing criminal activity. ......hope these idiots take heed...

Just on an offside ..... anyone else notice amongst the circle...

How many of these friends..friends of friends have made trips to Italy and Venice in the last two years .....

Not sure if it has any significance. ...... but does seem more than a coincidence.

Long time lurker first time poster 🙂
Just wondering where you guys are seeing photos of RB. In my own research I found some photos under a Facebook profile of a lady I thought could be his Mum. But on further investigation this person ended up having a different name. I wasn't able to find anything else? What initials of RBs Mum? Thanks
