they also said they found other 'items of interest' there. Ive found it interesting that throughout the whole case police have held back discussing any drug use, or drug use or supply from Ashley Dyball and RB. There has not been a mention of possible motives whatsoever. Other cases it is stated early on.
Yes, I wonder what this is leading to.

The body of missing Brisbane man Samuel Thompson has reportedly been found by police on a bush track north of Brisbane.

That isn't what the linked article says. It says this
(quote)
Police investigating the mysterious disappearance of Brisbane man Samuel Thompson have found possible human remains in bushland north of Brisbane.

Unless they went back and corrected it?

They must have corrected it since I posted :seeya:

Either way, I think it would be quite coincidental that they were searching in that area, for what we are not sure - though it states that it is police investigating the disappearance of Sam that were searching - and they happened to stumble on a 'grave site' and possible human remains.

A police spokesman said it was too early to say whether the remains were those of Sam Thompson, and identification could take several days.

BBM

I remember them saying this in Karen Ristevski's case, but the results were announced late the following day.
I guess DNA from the remains, DNA from an item belonging to the possible victim. Match ... or not.

If it is not Sam, then I could see identification taking longer. But, to me, it sounds as if they were searching for Sam in an identified area.

There was also a female that went missing in the same area.... SJ went missing a while back. I guess if the body is too decomposed to tell, and duty of care is taken to identify the remains properly it may not be ST.
But it is odd that they were looking and they found something......

Cops optimistic Thompson's grave found

http://www.9news.com.au/national/20...n-s-body-reportedly-found#sOaJksWMzyHJmdIo.99

I hope they are right and can bring closure to Sam's whereabouts, and that part of the investigation can be finalised. I would think they would be able to tell if it is a male or female they found because of clothing or any other identifiers with the body. And if it is a grave depending on how deeply the body was buried might have helped preserve it a bit so they can determine the c.o.d., but time will tell.

Inspector Trezise said police became aware of the area off Pumicestone Road on Friday night
Anti-Islamic State fighter Ashley Dyball was arrested on Friday

The investigation into the disappearance of Mr Thompson was described as "difficult with many challenges". Inspector Trezise said detectives had left no stone unturned and they had achieved "tremendous results to this point"
At any given time, at least 50 detectives had been working on Mr Thompson's case and police said they did not expect more charges to be laid.

We had 200-300mm of rain in 24 hours so the body could be decomposed badly..... evidence strewn across a large area or not found at all due to flood waters receding......

It obviously wasn't enough to wash the body they found away though if found in a grave, and there has been no mention of how badly decomposed the body they found was either?

As horrible as it is at least Sam's family can somewhat have closure and bury their beloved son.

I am guessing that a deal may have been struck with both accused to make them sing like canaries.

CADAVER dogs were used to find a body in pine forests to the north of Caboolture this morning.
Inspector Trezise said it was too early to reveal the identity of the deceased.

"It will take several days to identify as we have to go slowly and carefully to treat the remains with respect and there may also be more evidence," he said.
Inspector Trezise also said he could not comment on whether the find was the result of a tip off but said it came about as a result of "following up on investigative information."

My sisters friend went to Wavell State High School with Ashley Dyball and through mutual friends was told that they bought duct tape and acid from Bunnings. If this is in fact true, its very disturbing.

Police investigating the disappearance of Brisbane man Samuel Thompson have found what appears to be a shallow grave in a pine forest at Caboolture, north of Brisbane.

"It's about 12 inches above general land level and possibly six feet in length," Detective Inspector Tim Trezise said.

"We've been searching dumps, making a range of neighbourhood inquiries and other community inquiries, making appeals to the general public to provide information and we've had an investigative lead that has led us to Beerburrum State Forest and today we have had some success hopefully.

"It was a big relief this morning when one of the dogs had a positive hit and we found what we believe was a grave site."

I don't think the site has been washed away as such according to this report. So sad :(

Ohhhhh....

I wasn't saying the site was washed away, but it could have been disturbed and soaked with water. A similar thing happened with 13 year old DM until he was found years later [emoji17] until remains are confirmed it could be one of two possible bodies that I know of that could have been apparently dropped there..... but the tree plantations could have sheltered the grave from the heavy rain. But the LE will still have a hard time excavating [emoji17]
