My sisters friend went to Wavell State High School with Ashley Dyball and through mutual friends was told that they bought duct tape and acid from Bunnings. If this is in fact true, its very disturbing.

I would consider that rumor at the moment. It is not known how Sam died yet, and the acid could of been bought to get rid of evidence on the body or whatever. Until more is known about it all we don't know. All IMO.

Ashley will claim he suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - a real piece of work this guy

Unless he has been treated by PTSD by a doctor and diagnosed as such he will have a hard time trying to convince a jury. He was also not in the military and went overseas voluntarily.

If Dyball was manufacturing Meth he could also have used acid. This says battery acid, but maybe other acids can be substituted for it.
The meth “cook” extracts ingredients from those pills and to increase its strength combines the substance with chemicals such as battery acid, drain cleaner, lantern fuel and antifreeze.

PTSD isn't going to help him with a murder charge.

Of course - I'm not sure what he did in terms of transitioning back to a normal life - obviously not enough

Also found out Ashleys family owned or worked at a post office at Lutwyche and he worked there for a period of time.

The acid and duct tape rumour sounds too much like "Breaking Bad" to be believable, and I think a barrel would need to be involved. It doesn't fit the six foot long 12 inch mound described. There always seems to be a gruesome rumour or two at this stage in a case when emotions are high. I could be wrong but it sounds a little dramatic to me.

I agree, there will be much gossip flying around at the moment in regard to it all.

So the two perps. will front court next month for an Arraignment hearing, where their charges are read to them and then enter a plea of guilty or not guilty? Is that what that will be for?
Just not sure how the criminal justice system works in Aus.
I know in the U.S. most criminals enter a plea of Not Guilty at the arraignment hearing, to enable lawyers to get all the info. pertaining to the crime ready for Trial. Unless there is a plea bargain and then there is no Trial and the criminal is sentenced for whatever term of incarceration.

Unlikely perps gave up location. Maybe records (phone pings) investigated post arrest led LE to the general area and the dogs did the rest.

We have a "Committal Hearing" to see if there is enough of a case to move forward to a Trial.

Exactly my thoughts. Rumours will be running rife.

I do recall at the arrest of the first POI he did not apply for bail which IMO says to me hat he may know he had no chance....? Just a guess.

My thoughts as well, we've seen phone pings a major part of crime solving in recent years.

He may also have felt safer in jail, though. Hard to know. Hard to know anything with this case.

I was actually wondering about bail too. Don't know if they would get bail for premed. murder in Aus.? So yes, you're probably right.

It's a very high priority case in Brisbane so everything may go a bit slower and be a bit more 'hidden' to ensure a fair trial and to date not many details have actually been released. THere is a lot we don't know as the public usually has a lot more details by now.

If they are in protective custody? But as you say we don't know much yet.

He doesn't necessarily have to have already been treated by a doctor. He'll be having psych assessments in the lead up to any trial.....many people have undiagnosed PTSD. It doesn't mean it's discounted just because it was only diagnosed during a court assessment.

And I agree Fieldsroyal......I wouldn't be at all surprised if he takes that angle. Or whatever angle he can. If it's true that he was deemed unfit for the army due to psych testing, then he'll try to use that to his advantage now, I'd expect.
