And even dumping the car in Wooyung seems really foolish imo.

Like I said earlier in the thread, there are SO many areas of totally secluded bushland here in Northern NSW that barely any people go to. To dump it in the bush at Wooyung - a really small village where people would notice that car as it drove through - just seems insane to me. It would have stood out a mile.

Yes, seriously. No point leaving it in a busy carpark somewhere, or driving it into water.

Sounds like they could be the laughing stock of the lifers' prison population. Well done, boys!

And purchasing the items three days after Sam's car was captured for several hours on cctv at the Bald Hills home.

Oh good. They also left their mess for that long! Sounds very unplanned. Guess they maybe thought they were invincible.

So, when police announced they were searching for Sam, they decided to clean up the house ... and do whatever else they did.

Oh whoa! Thanks for that - I missed that detail.

Unlikely perps gave up location. Maybe records (phone pings) investigated post arrest led LE to the general area and the dogs did the rest.

Sounds as though you were very accurate with your thoughts here, Agent.

Detectives will allege they can trace Boscaino and Dyball’s movements via a series of CCTV cameras and hits on phone towers in the days following Mr Thompson’s disappearance.

"It was a big relief this morning when one of the dogs had a positive hit and we found what we believe was a grave site."

From above – we now have confirmation that the earlier car theft WAS related.
This is new:
"It is understood Mr Thompson was the victim of an unrelated robbery at his home last year when men with guns broke in, assaulted him and stole a collection of watches and his distinctive orange Ford Mustang.
The Mustang was later found at a unit complex a couple of streets from Boscaino’s home."

Sounds like Police have a pretty good and airtight case against the perps. Good. They won't skate on this one.

Might be reminiscent of what happened to Carl Williams too. In prison that is.

Makes me wonder now when police initially stated that Sam was involved with "unsavory characters" how many they were talking about exactly? Or was it only the two they nabbed?

Yes , and as long as police know is all that matters, to build the state's case, and keep the public safe from these types.

I'm sure there will be three more lined up ready to go already, looking for some sexy wheels and some fast money. It's so sad.

It is sad possum. I have a feeling if Samuel had strong intervention by the law he would have gone straight, he'd still be alive. I'm not too sure of the other two, especially AR, maybe to them it's more than money and lifestyle, it's power trip too. JMO

Can drug use be a base to be incompetent to stand trial? if RB was using drugs as has been suggested in Facebook comments etc, could his lawyers argue that he was not of sound mind at the time this crime was committed. It doesn't seem like it was planned at all.

Looking at Sam's FB page...it appears that he was on good terms with his Mum Debbie and Dad Bruce as shown on their FB pages with pics up until his disappearance...

The family all live in Brisbane area...At one stage Sam was looking for a room to rent on his FB page just before he took the unit at Albion where he was living when he disappeared...

As Sam appeared to be great mates with his Dad
Bruce (they used to go to concerts together etc), I cannot come to terms with why his Dad couldn't have stepped in and coaxed Sam away from those undesirable mates he was associated with (drugs)...After all, Sam was only 22 years of age when he was killed...

Wouldn't his Dad have wondered where all the money was coming from for Sam to have such expensive cars, designer brands and expensive overseas holidays...If it was my son I would certainly want to know...

I mean to say why would a father not do that to save his son's life, as life is so precious...It's not as though they were living in seperate towns, as it was Brisbane area...

Sam was an unemployed childcare worker...His father must have known about the destructive life Sam was living...It makes me very sad that Sam had to lose his life this way...He should still be alive today...MOO

Good question. If there are any lawyers on the thread, their input would be fabulous!

This article suggests that it is indeed a growing trend to use amphetamine-induced psychosis as a defence.

Recent work has highlighted the problem of amphetamine use in Queensland. In
particular, concern has been expressed in relation to what has been described as a
‘disturbing trend’ towards the provision of exculpatory defences based on findings
of ‘amphetamine‐induced psychosis’

First time poster thought I would start with something helpful. The answer to this question is no - self induced intoxication is incapable of constituting a complete defence. Although it is capable of going to capacity insofar as intent is concerned. I.e. a drunk person who kills another may be found guilty of manslaughter not murder if the jury accept he was incapable of forming the requisite intent to kill or cause grievous bodily harm. This is because intent is an element of murder. Very very rare though.
