I feel if you hold your hand or something over a baby's mouth hard enough, with enough force to quiet crying, and the baby is old enough to have teeth, it could very well cause lacerations on lips making it look like the baby was struck in the mouth....IMHO

Yes it could probably do that. I'm not sure what type of exact injury Sanaya had to her mouth because that wasn't mentioned that i can recall from the article posted upthread. I suppose Sanaya could of tripped over and fallen and hurt herself too, as can happen to little ones, we just don't know at this point of the case.

It's so sad TGY. :blowkiss: It's affected many of us.

Thanks Fuskier.

Sanaya was a precious darling little girl baby. It IS just so sad.

So vulnerable at the hands of her birth mother.....every mum out there has experienced the exasperation with a teething, overtired or unsettled child but to deliberately discard a bub in a watery grave and invent a lie? Aghhhh!

A woman who burnt her sons alive after feeding them cheesecake laced with sleeping pills wanted revenge over an unhappy marriage, a coroner has found.

At the same time it is difficult to resist the conclusion that she was also punishing her husband, that there was vengeance in the filicides.”

But Judge Gray found some of his behaviour, including refusing to speak to Ms Mathew, was controlling within the meaning of the Family Violence Act.

“The tragic irony is … Ms Mathew has committed the ultimate family violence in this case,” he said.

That's why i think she probably snapped and killed her baby. If it is true and Sanaya had an injury to her mouth, then it's possible the mother was trying to quieten her down if she was upset, and after hitting her in the mouth she then took it one step further and killed her to get her to be quiet. Not that hitting the baby in the mouth would quiet her, it would of made her cry even harder if that's what happened? And also if that is the case i think the mother was at her wits end with a crying upset baby getting on her last nerve and lashed out on Sanaya in the worse way possible.

That's where I'm leaning, I don't think it was premeditated or if it was, it was an impromptu plan
Can't get this poor baby out of my head :(

'Fly high': Sanaya farewelled
12:47pm April 16, 2016 By AAP

It was a heartbreakingly tragic scene as murdered toddler Sanaya Sahib was farewelled by a warm, open and loving community on Saturday...
"Sanaya's uncle Jameel Ahmad gave a short eulogy for the toddler, thanking the hundreds, from all backgrounds, who had gathered.
"Sanaya brought so much joy to our family, Sameer loves his little princess and will love and miss her every day of his life," he said...

Dandenong South Mosque's Imam Ismail Hyka and Liberal Member for Isaacs Garry Spencer spoke as leaders of the community...
Private Islamic burial to follow the memorial.

KILLER PARENTS: The warning signs that we all ignore
THEY’RE the parents who do the unthinkable — killing their own children. A psychologist says there are telltale signs of danger.

What drives parents to kill their own children?
APRIL 16, 201612:54PM

"IT’S unfathomable, inexcusable, sickening.
The act of killing an innocent child is something most of us cannot comprehend ...“In most cases, there is a strong mental health issue, which is very sad but that’s the reality,” Dr Jack White, Forensic Psychologist ...“Usually the mother is experiencing severe mental health problems. In fact, I don’t know any cases that don’t have a mother with problems,’’ Dr White said.

Would it be safe to say that anyone who murders someone, commits a heinous act or is considered 'evil' suffers from some sort of mental illness of varying degree.......?

I can never correlate the difference.

I always find it interesting however the different reactions of when a filicide is committed.Take for instance the Port Lincoln murder/suicide. The Dad that killed his 2 children. The social media and msm commentary on that as per my observations seemed to consist mainly of empathy towards the Father with calls for better metal health services even though it was acknowledged by the family that he had been encouraged to seek some help but refused. He was heralded as a 'good bloke' and many other wonderful things. From what I read most people were sympathetic towards him. I wonder if this is because he killed himself too?

Father's generally kill their children as an act of violence towards the mother and is about control and revenge, for Mother's it seems to be more about feelings of hopelessness and a perceived lack of support however that is mainly in the context of filicide/suicide.

Anyway just my observations and thoughts.

Here is a link to a very good study on filicide in the context of separation.

I definitely do think that him committing suicide had a lot to do with the sympathy.
I also notice that this is usually paired with the fact that the person was known to have a mental illness BEFORE the killing.

A lady in the UK who was at risk for PND walked right out the hospital and her and the baby were found deceased. The mother received much sympathy as the woman was known to be unwell.
To me it's so much different than pretending to go out about the day, murdering the child, dumping the poor girl in a creek and then making up a false story scapegoating another race.
I'm just having trouble grasping this case. I will wait and see what mental health experts have say because I'm furthest thing from one!

I am nodding my head. There is a difference between being fundamentally troubled and hopeless vs being cold-hearted and vindictive. But I also wonder if a person could be both. (When evil people lose their minds.)
