What a beautiful girl! Finding the car doesn't sound good

Hopefully there is something in her car that will give LE an idea of where she may be. I agree that finding the car doesn't look good, but I really hope there is a reasonable explanation for all of this, and that Sarah will be found safe and well.

I wonder if she had a tiff with family and/or friends (which could explain some of the vagueness of their info) and decided to take off. Even escaping from the verbal abuse of the ex bf may have been a reason to disappear. I know it doesn't seem likely and is apparently very out of character, but here's hoping that's how it all pans out.

There have been mentions today of the police giving her facebook page a lot of attention - so maybe things were said online (apart from the ranter) there in the lead up to her disappearance.

According to MSM Sarah lives at Ross Street Bacchus Marsh. Her car was found today in Owen Street Maribyrnong. I've included two maps of the area below. The first shows the distance from Sarah's home in Ross Street A to where her car was found in Owen Street. B

Owen Street isn't a very long street and borders onto Quarry Park.

Google maps is telling me it's only about a 40 minute drive, which is a lot closer than I expected. It also appears she (or whoever was in the car) was heading towards the city. Is there anyone/anything on Owen Street familiar to Sarah?

Is it known how long her car has been sitting there for?

Police find missing Melbourne woman's car

The car, a silver 2001 Astra sedan with a distinctive pink licence plate, was found on Owen Street in Maribyrnong this morning.
Police said there were no signs of a struggle around the vehicle and the case was not being treated as suspicious.

BBM. Why are the Police saying the case was not being treated as suspicious? Is Sarah in a house somewhere near where her car was found?

It really frustrates me when they label cases as 'not suspicious'. I think someone disappearing should be suspicious enough, especially when their car has been found but the missing person is nowhere to be seen.

ETA: Especially as her phone hasn't been used since she went missing, and she hasn't shown up for work.

It's not clear at the moment how long the car was there. I read one report that it was found last night and another report that it was found this morning. If the boy who reported seeing it elsewhere is correct, then Sarah's car has been moved from there (either driven by Sarah or someone else) to where it was found.

Sgt Glenn Saw said the search for Ms Cafferkey had moved to the Maribyrnong and Footscray areas but police did not hold concerns for her safety. "At this stage we don't hold fears as such but obviously we do hold some sort of reservation to her safety in the fact that she does suffer from a medical condition which requires medication and we're not sure if she's got that with her," he said.
Sgt Saw said there was no indication of foul play inside her abandoned car.

If Sarah is hiding out somewhere, I hope she has the good sense to let someone know where she is. If she has had an asthma attack, surely someone would have found her and sought medical help or notified the Police. Apparently it is still unclear as to whether Sarah has her medication with her or not.

That's what I had been thinking. It really would be the preferred outcome, ignoring the stress and man hours put into the search.

Funnily enough, someone on the FB page had said her car had been found near Edgewater (although they mentioned Gordon St, which Owen St is off) yesterday.

The thing that I find most unusual is that even though the car has been found, there have been no photos of it published in MSM to date. You would think that photos of the car would be splashed across the national tabloids in the hope of jogging someone's memory.

Secondly, it appears that there has not been a ground search organised in and around the area where the car was found. I would expect to be reading about Police and the SES combing the area, but that has not happened either.

I read that Sarah's father lives in Qld. Perhaps she took off up there as was suggested by someone on the family FB page.

Good point Makara. If there was genuine concern for her safety I would think they may have had dogs, boats or even a dive team out there, considering the proximity to the water.

The third person on the now removed FB post lives in Melbourne, and they were talking about meeting up at the start of the discussion......

From the snippets in the news, it sounds like this might be the case. I hope she is safe.

I hope she's just gone off on her own, but I keep coming back to her puppy that was left at home. I think she would have taken him with her, especially taking into consideration her mum's comments about her taking her puppy everywhere with her. Does she live with her parents, or was she just visitin them Friday afternoon? If she lives with them it makes my reasoning a lot weaker, but I still find it hard to understand why she would leave him behind when she obviously cared so much about him. And if her car has been found, how is she travelling?

I'd much prefer her to be running away from something, but I just don't know.

She left her puppy and phone at home. She also left a really incriminating message very visible. I will be very ashamed and full of apologies if I am wrong, but I'm going to stick my neck out and say I think this has been a set up to teach 'the charmer' a lesson.
