Mihayo stared at the floor as the court heard he had filmed his girls dancing to Let it Go from the Disney movie Frozen, and told the girls to show their new dresses to the their mother, who was waiting at a nearby house just moments before the murders.

“We’ll show Mum something else in 10 minutes,” Mihayo said.

He then played hide and seek before smothering the girls with a pillow.

In the weeks before, Mihayo had threatened to “slit the throat” of their mother and had sent several menacing messages.

“Do you really believe I’ll give up my flesh and blood just like that,” one message said. “You don’t get to decide for them.”

Mr Silbert said after the relationship broke down, Mihayo told a co-worker he had been thinking about ways to kill his ex-wife and get away with it but he would make sure his daughters were in a safe place.
Four days before the girls died he Googled “how can I kill my ex-wife”.

He bought them new dresses and shoes on the day of the murders and then dressed them in “flower girl” dresses and white shoes. He told them to show their mother who was inside the main house.
“Come back inside and we’ll show mum something else in 10 minutes,” Mihayo said.

Killer dad Charles Mihayo dressed up, filmed daughters before murdering them, court told

A Melbourne father who murdered his two young daughters dressed the girls in white dresses and filmed them dancing to a song from the movie Frozen before suffocating them, a court has heard.
Four-year-old Savannah and her three-year-old Indianna were killed by their father Charles Mihayo, 36, on Easter Sunday while their mother waited just metres away, in a nearby building.

Within an hour of the girls arriving, Mihayo had bathed and dressed them, filmed them dancing to the song Let it go, and then killed them, the Supreme Court heard at a plea hearing on Wednesday.

A TANZANIA national who murdered his two daughters and then dressed them in floral dresses in a gross act of revenge against his former wife has been sentenced to life in prison.

Melbourne man Charles Mihayo, 36, smothered his daughters, Savannah, 4, and Indianna, 3, on April 20 this year following an acrimonious divorce from the girls’ mother.

He stared at the floor this morning and did not stand as he was ordered to serve at least 31 years before being eligible for parole.

Justice Lex Lasry said the murders were among the most baffling he had seen in his 41-year career in the criminal law.
