Australia - Shandee Blackburn, 23, murdered, Mackay, Qld, 9 Feb 2013

The Courier-Mail understands footage of the car was taken from a service station and also a bikie clubhouse, where a surveillance camera overlooks an alley.

Some of the footage is believed to show a man entering the service station shortly before Shandee, 23, was killed. The same man returns within minutes.

Police interviewed Peros within days of the murder, but it is understood he was not co-operative

It's possible he was already there:

He was investigated by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Seems John Peros is unemployed too. I wonder if he was arrested at a Brisbane jail yesterday because he was spending time in jail for not answering questions at the secret star chamber hearings.

And it seems that some of the footage of his vehicle parked where Shandee walked home came from a bikie clubhouse too. Maybe they cooperated with police in finding the killer, or maybe they were obliged to hand over the footage via warrants.

THE 32-year-old unemployed man from Mackay was arrested in Brisbane and charged with murder and robbery on Thursday afternoon.

"Ms Blackburn's mother, Vicki, flew from Mackay to Brisbane to attend Friday's hearing at the Brisbane arrest court on Roma Street.

Mr Peros sat straight-backed and stared straight ahead in the prisoner's dock as he waited for the matter to be called before the magistrate.
His eyes darted around the room as he was brought into the court, settling his gaze briefly on members of the media and his alleged victim's parents.

He will return to court in Mackay on October 9."

"Shandee's mum Vicki Blackburn sat in the front row of the public gallery in a fluro lime-yellow jacket holding hands with husband Paul Beadmore, who had a matching tie. Other family members arrived soon after, Shandee's sister Shannah also wearing a skirt in the same shade, and they all shifted to sit together.

Mr Peros' case was heard very briefly before Magistrate Noel Nunan.

The Mackay man was remanded in custody to appear for a committal mention on October 9.

He cannot apply for bail in the magistrates court."

:what: Classy lawyer!

"Outside court, Peros's lawyer bristled when asked about details of the police brief against his client.

"How the f*** would I know," Mr Bale said.

He had a similar reaction when asked by a journalist about where Peros was arrested.

"I'm not telling you that either, f*** off," he said.

Peros appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday wearing a green prison-issue sweater and brown tracksuit pants, and sporting a thick, ungroomed black beard."

I came across this last night - too much 'legal speak' for me - looks to be in relation to Shandee Blackburn because her name is mentioned. Alioop?. :)

Good find enzeder! Haha .. nice try Peros. No wonder his lawyer is stroppy - they've got something on him and he doesn't know what it is - it is sealed. :)

I also noticed in the papers that it says he is currently incarcerated on some other matter.

".... because the applicant is incarcerated, and was at the relevant time of making the application, meaning that the risk of evasion or interference with relevant witnesses or accomplices were significantly mitigated"

Re the bolded.

Because of our sub-judice laws we most likely won't hear what that "other matter" is until the trial is over.

I wish government would hurry up and change that ruling so the jurors are allowed to hear about any previous history.

This seems like he is trying to get his DNA test thrown out, is that what it means? Seems they've had him on the radar and questioning him for some time.

Lawyer Andrew Bale, acting for Shandee Blackburn’s accused killer John Peros, launches foul-mouthed rant outside a Brisbane court

September 06, 2014 12:00AM

Mr Bale told The Courier-Mail that his replies had been “glib and joking”.

But a criminal lawyer said it was “wildly inappropriate language to be used by a member of the legal profession when addressing the media”. “There is a particular standard expected of a legal practitioner and those type of comments, whatever the context, fall well below any acceptable level,” the lawyer said,

It does look like a pair of sunglasses, sunglasses at midnight.

Reminds me of the song, 'I wear my sunglasses at night' by Corey Hart. :giggle:
