A total of at least 6 attempted kidnappings of young children around schools has been reported in the last few weeks in several suburbs around Melbourne.
Apparently all incidents involved men in white vans approaching children in a friendly manner and offering them a lift home or telling them that their mother had asked them to take them home.
"Police believed the incidents were unrelated because the vans appeared to be different and the victims gave different descriptions of the men who approached them."
