Hey man.
I've seen a few of your posts. I imagine you you've heard the podcast??
I'm still curious as to 'the Judge' bludgeon, and the others found in another location.
Did you get the sense while staying in BB, that there was animosity from the local community towards the tourist community, or towards the outside community, enough to warrant something like a vigilante group.
I have mentioned before that I have seen a gang with a baseball bat in that area about 15 years ago. It's probably worse these days

I wonder if someone who didn’t speak the language that well might not have picked up any ‘odd’ signals from someone who approached him? And that gap in language and culture allowed Theo to be more trusting?

I’d suggest that what we know of Theo he’d be friendly but wary, and would pick up on any erratic & not-quite-safe vibes, and smile a lot whilst attempting to back up & exit. Lisa said his English wasn’t great great, probably passable with challenges understanding & interpreting. I don’t think he’d be more trusting, even if he felt relaxed in Australia & Byron, and think he’d possibly be way more vigilant due to being quite outside of his comfort zone. I think, if outnumbered, he’d feel pretty intimidated, unsure and helpless, and would choose the path of least resistance in order to best survive.

He knew home was off to the left in all directions, and at every turn. He checked his bearings regularly. His destination was home, and he was only going home. Arriving at the oval he was from then on blocked at every attempt to go left.

This. Is. Really. Weird. (queue twilight zone intro)
Just a tip to read paywall news articles like this, go to Google News and search for the title of the article. From there you can read the article, or apparently the new version of Chrome browser also can get around it

Just say that woman did actually witness the guy waving her down and the guy in tan pants & black shoes lying beside or on the road. They weren’t there a little later when the cops arrived. Forgetting the straight up obvious car-jacking scenario for a minute, why else would the guy in tan pants and black shoes be lying down on the ground/road with one other guy prancing around near-by? What else could be happening here? I wish we could see that video she posted on her fbook about it when she got home afterwards.

What other weapons were found?
Rabbits are common. I often see them in residential areas further north. Some are cute.
Wild dogs are common. I'd think of the possibility of wild dogs in the bushland near Tallow Beach. Baiting is common further north and west (I can't speak for Byron) but they keep coming back.

Generally in the area and mostly the hinterland but they wild dogs do make it coastal areas:
North Coast wild dogs run rampant
It was in the latest podcast I believe. I don't have a time point of reference sorry.

Note Chrome Browser will only work if you choose File > New Cognito Window > and then go to paywalled website for the first time. If you try without Cognito, it will still block you. In that case, use the Google News route... BTW, the FB video that she made is included in that news article.

If Théo wrote anything like 'urgh' it could be 'hein ?!' (French/Belgian slang) which means 'What ?!'

I'm not aware of all the new vocabulary of Théo's generation and of course I trust what his family says.

Could that 'urgh' be the way the Australian jounalists tried to write down the prononciation of the word 'hein' ?
I'll leave it here my brain does not follow anymore.

My original thoughts / response to Theos reply to U2 was:

They were appearing in Australia later in the year and maybe his reply to the message was because it was a date that he would not be able to attend If he was to come back to AU to see the band as maybe he would have been in his new degree at university and unable to get leave and it was his version of my version of Ugh - disapointed

Just my thoughts

It's a shame, I think there is a lot of information the police are holding onto or could be found out from sources such as Google that could put this to rest. And that likely due to red tape a lot probably won't be released.

I'd be interested to know if traffic cameras had recorded any possible vehicles linked to the report of a man laying on the side of the road and the other man waving that lady down.

It's also very interesting the same model phone as Theo's was found in the sand at CC but reported to not be his. It just seems to crazy to think that it wouldnt be his phone! (Considering the final ping was in that area and presumably remained there). I am sure the police would have definitely 10000% made sure it wasn't his. And it would make sense for the phone to not have been there during the beach searches especially with metal detectors however it wouldn't be the first bit of "evidence" from this case to show up after the area was searched o_O

In the latest podcast Laurent Hayez says on their walk into the bush off the sandy track (fire trail) that Theo knows his limitations. He says he could go down the sandy track, then is quite adamant that Theo would not have gone right at into the deep scrub. He then says softly he doubts he would even walk the sandy track!

My take from those comments is Theo’s dad thinks it would be out of character for Theo to willingly walk down that track. That just reaffirms my theory I don’t think Theo ever went down that track willingly IMO

So in latest podcast the police said they believe Theo went on the cliff due to drop in signal on Theo's phone but would not give the time of the signal drop. The Belgian police gave the time to Theo's family as being between 2 am and 6 am when signal dropped, also the same hours given previously as being in sleep mode. Does a phone in sleep mode have weaker signal anyway or should signal remain same? I mean the signal drop could be caused by phone being in sleep mode not necessarily climbing cliffs. Still leaves the question what strength signal or mode was this phone in after 6 am? Theo pacing up and down on the cement slab at Tennyson St, from corner to corner yet not looking at maps until he goes. Was he nervous for some reason? Maybe just cold? Was there others arguing maybe and he felt uncomfortable? Or maybe calling out to someone who he knew was camped close but did not want to go into the scrub further?

I Agree with everything said in this post! I wondered pretty much the same!

Could the back and forth on the Tennyson concrete include possible fighting as well?

So I have run tests on Whats app regarding the comment on the podcast of the final location close to town being clocked off Whats App.

There are the share your location options in a message along with being able to set this available time for the person you shared.

But I cannot find anywhere that Whats app will show take your location anywhere on Whats App and it also did not show up in GM history either. That was just using it normally as well as many message share location tests. Did not come up anywhere.

IMO, that last location recording, I cant see how it was from Whats App.

Yes T-dawg could be fighting, a scuffle very possible. Moving around back and forth tells me he is either not relaxed or possibly cold yet he is not going anywhere stays there for 7 minutes. Either waiting for company or had company. Why hang around otherwise?

Surrounded? Pacing, not sitting, possibly trying to exit, or tossing a ball or something....
Pod said he likes footy. Could that have been an enticement to head to the rec field too? Play a game there or on the beach.... No idea!

That pod 6 just felt heavy, sad and kind of hopeless. Strong appeals for police help and community help too.

What’s the purpose of the cops holding vital cards so close to their chest? What have they got to lose by putting everything on the table?

  • #439
Is it plausible that the police would withhold advising the family ( or even the public ) that the phone found was in fact Theo’s?
They’re not telling other bits & pieces, so could they justify not letting on about the phone too?
Like not confirming the cap, and shutting down public assistance. Is this feasible?

How’s this brainwave sound?

What if Theo’s “companion” lives in the streets between the oval and the Milne track.

What if they took his phone home.

Within the 60 degrees phone ping area:
Milne Street, Paterson Street, Patterson Lane, Short Street, Massinger Street and Marvell Street.
It amazes me that in the latest pod , there is reference to USA picking up all phones within certain area. We already do this. And solved many cases based on other phones paths. Jill megaher, Gerard Baden clay etc. it saddens me that the the podcast has come to an end and multiple questions remain unanswered, I really believe that he was not alone and more could be done . I respect everyone who has contributed here in a positive manner. It’s nice to see and be involved in these interactions. That people do care, and share a common ground. Be safe . Take care
