Sorry. I got a bit confused. I think that's just and info thing. I don't know. That article you posted. Such a dedicated person.

That article is very self-serving and directive.

Well, he is setting up a new business in Qld. That could be the self-serving part. And he has a drone and a dog, so they are both useful.

Any and all help is much appreciated.
Although when a person inserts himself into the search (investigation) in this way, the police generally have a good (private) look at them.

Valid point.

I just think placing the outcome inside a box at this point in time is directional. I think people have to accept the possibility that foul play has ensued.

From very early on, I have thought that foul play may be involved.

I just can't see a sensible guy like Theo going cliff climbing - or swimming on a cold winter's night - or anything like that at night, by himself, in a place where he had been for only two days. He was on his way back to his hostel. He didn't make it.

Then his phone last pinged from a location far from the hostel (where did it ping between 11:30pm and 1:40pm the next day? They are not saying, yet they must know).

It doesn't add up for me.

A security expert who has joined the search for Theo Hayez believes he may still be alive a month after his mysterious disappearance.

The Belgian backpacker has not been seen since he left the Cheeky Monkey's nightclub in Byron Bay on May 31.

Brisbane security expert George Maloukis has spent the last 10 days searching for the 18-year-old, with the help of a drone and his dog Princess.

He has vowed to stay in Byron Bay and remain involved in the search for as long as it takes to find Mr Hayez.

Top security expert and his dog in Byron Bay as search for missing backpacker Theo Hayez continues | Daily Mail Online

It is fantastic to see so many helping with Theos search and taking time to help his family search. . Must be heart wrenching gut wrenching for Theos family, his girlfriend and his friends and also the Byron Bay community right now.

Or Crimestoppers NSW Tel: 1800 333 000

Please don’t post information about your tip here we aren’t allowed as it can jeopardise prosecutions in cases.
Cheers man. No, I won't post anything here. If we trust law enforcement, every avenue will be investigated. Although history has not given me much confidence in the Australian police, state and federal.

I just finished reading the 32 pages in this thread, as well as quite a few posts on the official Facebook group and most articles I could find online and wow. First of all, great job on this website and forum! I just had to join!
But in regards to Theo, honestly, I am completely baffled just like everyone else. I'm not even sure why but I find this case so intriguing. I look for more and more info every single day.

At first I was certain he simply went missing - inebriated, towards the end of his gap year...he just wanted to explore a bit more because he had been kicked out of CM, and fell down somewhere. I'm in Canberra and a couple of years ago a girl went missing and they found her a week later: she had an accident and her car rolled off the side of a hill and she could not move to get out and find help or use her phone.
But it's been over a month now. There's a lot the authorities are not saying and that to me points to foul play. That, added to the things that we do know - he walked one way, then he ran the other way, the fact that nothing has been found yet. Poor guy and especially poor family. I'm still hoping for a good outcome but I just don't know anymore.

Okay, I am not having a lot of luck in finding the specific case I stumbled on the other day - about police using a tower dump (all the metadata on a mobile phone tower) to help in a murder case.

I can only find, at the moment, a few US and Canadian articles about this type of police action. Not specifically what I was looking for, but it shows how using tower dumps (as opposed to requesting info about one or two specific mobile numbers) is sometimes used.

One article:
How “cell tower dumps” caught the High Country Bandits—and why it matters
Fishing expeditions can pay dividends—but do they need a warrant?
How “cell tower dumps” caught the High Country Bandits—and why it matters

Another article (there are quite a few out there):
“Tower dump” production orders occur when police organizations request the records pertaining to every user whose cellular phone connects to a certain tower or towers. Each tower serves a specified geographical area, and each time a phone connects to that tower, a record is produced identifying the phone that connected, which can then be linked back to the account and account holder. In effect, these records can be used, through tower dump production orders, to identify all users in the geographic area serviced by any particular tower.

In R v. Rogers Communications, the Peel Regional Police obtained a production order against Telus and Rogers as part of the investigation of a string of jewelry store robberies. The order sought production of all of the data from more than 21 Telus towers and 16 Rogers towers.
Tower dump production orders: Restricting police access to cellular records in R v. Rogers Communications - Lexology

Wasn't a tower dump done for William Tyrrell and I'm sure it was spoken about by GJ in media

This case is just like WT, he had just vanished was no clue what happened, no trace of him and every day thinking he will be found, we will know the answer soon.... 5 years later almost and we still dont know. It is baffling. Just like William, no trace of him. How it happened, what happened and is he / they still alive. We only know what we know and police may have some form evidence we do not know however just like William, there is still much talk that he could still be alive. I sadly dont feel this is the case however that is based on my assumption and the readings that I have done in MSM, SM and here. The police have so much more information than I / We do so their assumptions may be based on an entirely different belief I have. A guy I worked with few years back just didn't turn up for work one day. He was a Strata manager and was totally out character. They found his phone in his unit and his bank accounts have remained untouched since he vanished in 2017. I couldnt believe spoke to him a few days earlier then bang, hes gone. An inquest has since been held and ruled that he is most likely deceased due to bush walking in a remote area and possibly having an accident. He was never found obviously only his car at the national park where he went for his usual walk. This just shows, Theo may have done the same thing if he was alcohol affected or drugs were involved (again dont know what he had that night intentionally or unintentionally) , he may have wandered off, but where he would been compared to the guy I knew was less remote so probably would been found, unless the ocean is involved. I just dont know what to think now. Totally Baffled.

And so who here know the ins and out of the Milat case. A forensic psychologist observed one particular crime scene and told police in his official opinion there were two crime scenes, close to each other, and that the evidence pointed to two suspects, not one.

Search now called off.
Detectives will continue their investigations.

This was ‘breaking news’ from Channel 9 news @ 6pm.

Seems like the police was just demonstrating to the visiting Belgians how they had searched the terrain.

Now that the Belgians are leaving, they will go back to desk investigation. ..

ETA
Police will continue investigating Mr Hayez's disappearance but the physical search will remain suspended unless they find new evidence.

Sounds a bit like searching for MH370, new evidence ...

(...)
The devastated father earlier said he and his wife considered all possibilities: whether Theo had an accident or was killed, if he just wanted to stay in Australia for longer, or if he had fallen in love.

But as the search goes on, Mr Hayez remains convinced his son is alive. With no trace, he says there is no evidence his son has been injured or killed.

'I believe, I'll never give up,' he said.

(...)
Obviously I can't say this for sure but he was towards the end of his gap year, with plans for his future, and he still had 3/4 months left on his visa if he did decide to stay longer. He could have even renewed it, he would have had time to. And he seems like the kind of guy that would not just disappear, he would contact his family, especially at this point. So I don't think he 'just' wanted to stay longer. JMO

No Cookies | Gold Coast Bulletin

"The case has been dogged by misinformation and rumour from the start, with armchair detectives trying to solve the case via social media.

It is understood police are privately furious at damaging speculation relating to Theo’s last movements as well as unrelated “clues” having been linked to the case."

I am not aware of this misinformation does anyone know what they are refering to here?

I've read many of the posts on this forum but not all, so not sure if I've missed something. So many on this forum say he was walking back to his hostel but I thought he went down Kingsley St. and then police were asking if anyone had footage from Tennyson St.? If he was going back to the hostel then he would have gone down Jonson St? And would a backpacker just go back at 11pm for an early night? I would have thought a backpacker would go somewhere else as at 11pm the night is still young. Doubt though that he would have decided to go bushwalking. Likely he was planning to meet someone and likely that the police have footage by now which isn't being released. Also possible he may be in some kind of fugue state due to stress.

He left his friends at Cheeky Monkeys as was asked to leave by security so maybe all his friends or those he knew from backpackers were still in CM. That may have left him walking the streets, messaging friends (or friend as we do know) and possibly meeting up with someone (regarding the Whats App message) and this is the unknown bit. From what we know as the public, he has only been verified at CM club and the botle shop (correct me if I am wrong), the other footage on CCTV police cannot confirm due to the grainy images although his family beleive it to be him as do most of the public. He is traced by CCTV in several streets but then the streets with no CCTV we have no clue where and what he did.

There is CCTV (not released) of Theo walking much closer to his hostel.
There is also witness statement, retold by someone else - not sure if it is CCTV or a sighting - of him running along Jonson Street much closer to his hostel.

Police were asking for info and dashcam footage of Jonson and Tennyson Streets.

"I am appealing for anyone that has information or dashcam footage from Jonson or Tennyson streets around 11pm on Friday, May 31, to come forward," he said.
