Mr Thorburn told police he dropped his foster daughter off at school about 8.10am that morning but police will allege that was a lie.

They'll allege he instead murdered the 12-year-old at the family home in the Logan suburb of Chambers Flat on the night of October 29, before dumping her body in the river that night or the next.
<snipped>

Yep. The whole "last seen Friday morning being dropped at school in her uniform" was a red herring. I thought so!

Are the sons biological or fostered aswell. Seems the former but I read an article saying "Mr Thorburns foster son"

I'm not buying the story of Rick Thorburn about how he killed Tia to save his son from being exposed as a predatory sexual deviant, because it doesn't make sense, nor add up.. not much time after Tia's disappearance, Rick was advertising to international students , portraying himself as a provider of Xmas accommodation....no mention of the son being booted out of home, so therefore, Rick was prepared to engage in the same situation .. that is, sexually active and predatory son at home, expectation of being sent a few international students, probably girls, to the Thorburn lair. Same situation arising.

Unless Rick was intent on embarking on a career of murdering young girls.. . this isn't as far fetched as it sounds , first up. He certainly was able to keep his wife, and sons absolutely under his total control as far as any blabbing or breakdown was concerned. He had that bit working smoothly.
That's a great point you make about the fact Rick was advertising for more students just a few weeks later. Why would you take the risk again of having other young girls in your home and potentially having the same situation arise? It could be as simple as Tiahleigh was pregnant and that's why he felt he had to get rid of her. Maybe he was fine with the 'sexual relationship' (she's 12, it's rape imo) until he found out she was pregnant.

Tiahleigh did nothing wrong.. she was 12. It is all on the son.. he's 19 and should have known better, Tiahleigh was just a child. Yet it seems Rick blamed it all on Tiahleigh, he couldn't even entertain the idea that his son was the one at fault. He didn't give two hoots about ruining Tiahleigh's life but he was worried about the potential repercussions for his son.. whose fault it was entirely anyway! Now Rick's in an induced coma and may never have to face up to what he's done. He's a coward. He's been fine the past 11 months, living a normal life despite knowing he murdered his 12-year-old foster child, but as soon as he is caught he collapses. He only cares about himself and that he and his family were finally caught. Where's the remorse for Tiahleigh?

I am not entirely buying the story that the son, or sons are the only sexual predators in that house.. far from it, I reckon it takes a lot of emotion to kill , and he killed in his own home, with his family around, and that implies rage of a specific middle aged man rejected kind of rage, to me. That Tia was uncompliant with him, and we can suppose , uncompliant with the son, or perhaps less stroppy with the son than with the fathers advances upon her. And of course, it all must have crossed the mothers mind the instant she first saw Tia.. this girl/child in her home with her two sons?.. whose dumb idea was this?... she would have been brainless not to see the writing on the wall, and not just her sons being dazzled but her baboonarsedface husband, as a certainty.

see, Rick Thorburn is carefully, and immediately , distancing himself from any sexual involvement , any sort of dicey, dodgy , iffy, illegal ( of a sexual sort) activity altogether. First up, he has dropped his son in it, making sure that any sort of inference that he himself would be onto Tia and into such sorts of goings-on will be covered up, and he stands out as one of the great fathers of all time, sacrificing his life and his future to keep his deviant son safe and comfy at home, killing the problem his son had.. . noooo.. it 's a story that has whiskers all over it, and I dismiss it just as instantly as he thought it up. .

Then he conveniently faints at the watchhouse. ..

I agree, I get the feeling that the son was not the only one interfering with the poor girl. No bloody wonder she was trying to run away :'(

If it was a heart complaint, I can't see why he'd be in an induced coma. I wonder what happened? Possible suicide attempt?

Awww that's the talk. He don't want to go where the gorillas are waiting...for him and his pretty boy son.

THE lawyer for Trent Thorburn, the foster brother of murdered Brisbane schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer, has argued the 19-year-old should be granted bail because he may spend longer in custody than any sentence potentially handed down at a later date.

“Whilst Mr Thorburn is at risk of a prison sentence in relation to this charge, it is certainly not a given,” solicitor John Ide said.

Tiahleigh Palmer’s foster mum at the time of her death, Julene Thorburn, and her 20-year-old

son Josh were at their Chambers Flat property following this morning’s drama. The two have been charged with perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The pair were seen talking with detectives and patting their pet dog when they arrived home at around 10.45am.

They also led police to a shed at the back of the property and fed their pet horses.

They were driven on to the property in police cars.

A search warrant was issued for the property yesterday afternoon and police are expected to spend most the week scouring for evidence.

Forensic officers and detectives have also been sighted on the property this morning.

It is unclear as to whether the pair will be able to remain on the property while the investigation continues.

All this talk about the Crime and Corruption commission... didn't the Qld government order an investigation into why it took so long for the public to be informed that Tia was missing? Is that why the commission is involved?

that son appears to spend a lot of time cultivating his hair -do...... not a lot of time left over for extracurricular activities...

They'll... how do you think Rick Thorburn made them , mum, son, son keep quiet all this time?.. they seem to have been persuaded to make false statements to the police, which is why they are all up for perjury, but that really does convey a sense of organisation and conspiracy to deceive.. .. obviously they all told a story that backs each other up, and that implies long discussions on the subject. Everyone knew everything, maybe. Maybe Rick was keeping secret his predatory activities from Mum.. Maybe the son was leaning on Dad because he knew , also. All sorts of convoluted combinations are possible. .. .

But he must have had some sort of extra pressure he could apply to keep them all in line. I cant see the coiffured son being that person, I reckon it was old Rick... . what do you reckon it was?

They also get involved in pedophilia, right? I thought there might be more charges to come.... If they weren't quite ready to arrest him but had to move because the bio mum posted about the car on Facebook.

Just a thought

TIAHLEIGH Palmer’s foster brother Trent Thorburn allegedly told a cousin in a Facebook message that he had sex with the Brisbane schoolgirl and he thought she might be pregnant, a court has heard.

It is alleged Tiahleigh told her foster mother about it.

It comes as Trent’s lawyer argues the 19-year-old should be granted bail because he may spend longer in custody than any sentence potentially handed down at a later date.

The prosecution alleges Thorburn was asked on five separate occasions if he was involved in her death or had sexual relations with the child, and he denied it.

The police prosecutor says he “abused his position as big brother”.

“The consequences are her young life has been taken,” she said."

It made the most sense. Tiahleigh was only 12 years old. She must have been so scared and confused. Heck, I was 16 when I found out I was pregnant with my now 9-year-old and I was scared shiitless... could you imagine being 12 and thinking you might be pregnant to your 19-year-old foster brother? I can only imagine her fear.. and to think she thought she could trust her foster mother but in turn she winds up dead, it's devastating. It should never have happened. She was still a baby in my eyes

Yeh, she's gone to her for help, and instead of helping her, they've "dealt with it". Heartbreaking!

GBC?

Both murdering grubs who mourned over the coffin of their victim.

Justice will be served.
Just when you think it can't possibly get worse. It does.

Wouldn't that upset the income stream if word got out, a pregnant foster child.

Despicable scum... instead of taking it out on the son he did the most heinous thing imaginable.
