I still do not believe they have said he has spoken to the police, I think these "for example, he said to the police that he murdered Tia because he wanted to protect his son from the consequences of his incestuous venture with Tia.. he also, apparently said his son was bi -sexual and was afraid if he was sent to prison for his outrage against Tia his son would be at a distinct disadvantage considering his sexual proclivities.." maybe coming from either the FM or other son. I am certainly interested to hear his version of events, from his mouth/statement or a statement from police saying he told them such and such.

The dancing angle makes me feel particularly sad ... participating in that world, I know the boys are generally so popular, whether they be (seemingly) straight handsome boys or a bit campy, they are the centre of troupes and many girls have crushes or BFF relationships with them. Those boys are high up the totem pole socially. I can only imagine how it would feel for Tiah to be a kid who has probably missed out on a lot being placed in that family and having a sister/friend relationship with him, instant status and inclusion with the rest of the kids. She was 100% entitled to have a schoolgirl crush and enjoy innocent attention from him, he should have been showing her how she should expect men to treat her, with kindness and respect. That thing about Rick Thorburn's motive for murdering Tia is perhaps what he told his family, after the fact. No I don't believe this was his real motive. I think he killed her because she was going to tell someone in authority something about him.

I don't think Tiah was a wilting violet. She has been described as 'feisty' by her previous foster carers. Maybe she challenged Thorburn in some way, perhaps he tried something with her and she reacted. I think her killing was some sort of catalyst for him, he probably molested and then killed her. And after that the genie was out of the bottle.

Cindis fb group just went private. I don't blame them, they were getting more trolls now then they were before. Last I saw someone posted the charges article and people were commenting thats why people say there is a pedo ring. I don't think it stayed up long cause all the fb pages are actively removing it. The crime page is asking for alerts off ppl if they see it.
From early reports Tia was with previous carers for 3 years and they had a good relationship with Cindi and they were helping Cindi regain custody. There was an active court case when Tia was murdered.

So what happened there. I had seen a comment on one of the child abuse fighter posts that granny had tried to get custody but they refused and were hell bent on sending her to evil fosters.

I have seen comments that Cindi was complaining about the placement. As you would if you were on an active case.


Also when 12 year olds are involved with older people of their own will they will stay shhhhhhh to protect them. It happened at heap when I was a kid nowadays the stakes are higher. She told people knowing there was potential for him to be in serious trouble.

Hi I think I can answer your question. When a child is in care of the minister the minister is the "parent". When a child dies they instantly legally go back to the parents.

The difference is a body and the fact that Cindi didnt seem to care about any warnings from Police and dept.

I don't expect these family services folk to be able to tell a child molester from a saint, but the thought should have crossed someone's mind in the organisation that regardless of sexual preferences, regardless of whether anything is known for or against any placement or the people in this situation, 3 adult men in one house with a 12 yr old foster child has all the potential to go to hell very quickly as well as the highly likely situation of horrible situations arising without warning. All the rational signs of just moving on from this placement onto another with none of these factors.. .. no multiple unoccupied adult men living in the same home. A standard criteria.

I agree, if he is facing charges for raping the younger two girls, as it appears from media articles. Then I do find it a bit hard to believe he did not also interfere with Tiahleigh in this manner. The other alternative is rage killing after coming to the realization his son is just like him! But I do have a sneaking suspicion he was interfering with her. For all we know, the sons have been subjected to years of it too...Its not outside the realms of possibility.

As many have articulated, this is a horrendous situation and occurance, so far beyond my mind's ability to undtstand or comprehend. I cannot believe that we continue to have this vermin living amongst us as if they have a right!

I was moved to comment however, as you hit a common chord re the involved Son - I do believe (and did poste earlier similar thoughts ) that this boy (18 when it occurred ) is just so messed up ... do we need to delve too far to wonder why? And IMO, that is another crime.

I can't even begin to express my feelings with regard to this diabolical & inexcusable situation. I pray for peace for Tiahleigh's very courageous Mum, and her other family members. At the same time, I am absolutely sure that little girl is now enjoying her life-ever-after, wrapped safely in a security that she finally no longer has to question.

I just want to emphasise my feeling that as a society we really need to get our S^~#t together. It is not acceptable that these scum have an opportunity to be given access to our children. ..to ANY children, let alone those VUNERABLE Children who have been removed from previous care for a 'SUPPOSEDLY' better opportunity for care and wholesome upbringing.

I think this is quite sickening that the media would use the angle that a 12 year old knows what they are doing. No matter now street-smart Tia may have been, she was still a child/minor and not even a teenager. Also, a normal adult (who was not a pedophile) would not be interested in a child in that way. sorry ~ that just p##### me off.

I have been trying to find if they belonged to a church. The area is full of right wing fundies and those groups.

In Cindis group people were saying he thought he was invincible and he had a lot of power and people were scared of him. Look at the mums statement from the charges.

She said T could go to her mum, but mum was still going through court to get her back, reports of T running away to see her mum
