This BTW is not for the murder charges that will be held in the Supreme court. This is local court matter (district) on the indecent dealing charges (the two girls in daycare)

I am so shocked at this sentence. Like someone said previously, its not just that she lied, its the circumstances that she lied about. They were not only parents they were foster parents too. They were trusted to love, protect and guild a vulnerable girl. Them has parents should not only protect their own sons but tialeigh as well. What rational person would think to kill a 12 year old girl because you son was having sex with her and she may be pregnant? The mum was just thinking about appearance's and tialeigh got dumped like trash for it.

I think she may have been very lucky not to have been charged with concealing a serious crime or accessory. I’m still not sure she wasn’t a co-conspirator. I guess we’ll never know.

That's what I keep thinking too. I think at the LEAST she was an accessory. I just hope the foster dad gets what he deserves.

I would of thought her being a carer and parent she would of got a very harsh sentence as she was the one directing everyone to shut up. She was the mastermind after the fact.

If convicted of murder he will get life

Essentially hope there's not too many like this excuse for a human being living in my neighbourhood, I don't know what these judges are on, but it's unreal and our state should be ashamed! I'll be talking with my local member about this garbage, probs to busy with saving his job at present. Imo WAP

i'm with you Seek. This sentence is a total disgrace, and in my opinion absolutely unacceptable delivery by the justice system in this state.
I don't work my butt off to have my Tax $$ go toward a system which seems to have no regard for enforcing the values that we as a society hold dear.
I see it pretty simple really - here we treat each other with care, kindness, concern & respect, and our children with love, guidance & nurturing to aid their progress along the path to healthy adulthood.

The time has come IMO to put a stop to the continual weak-liver'd judges & magistrates who frustrate the hell out of our hard working Police. The investigating officers go to the ends of the earth to bring perpretators before the courts, only to come up against these spineless ' God-Almightly Impersonators' who IMO demonstrate a complete abuse of power by the 'who-cares Slap on the Wrist' penalties that they dish out.

Thus is really the Straw for me, I am so incensed! I wish I knew how to do all the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram ... Whatever people do, as I think with an election looming very quickly, it's time we had some say in the values we want in our state/ country, and that we expect them to be led from the top.

100% Boho, IMO ...I am stunned that she got off this lightly. All I can think is that maybe she has 'Spilled Big Time' on Ricky Boy - his fantasies, his behaviours, his indulgences, and his actions .... And I am still concerned at what those 2 boys have been subjected to over the years.

That's what gets me too Champers... I can't get past the fact that she was responsible for her sons being charged with perjury. What a Mother, what an excuse! 😪

Our Justice System seriously needs a shake-up...What is going on here? :notgood:

Yep, IMO it sure does .. But who is responsible for the 'shake up' I wonder ? For that matter, who will take responsibility ?

'we' all express our feelings of shock/ disappointed / disgust / upset & let down ... and any manner of other emotions ...and rightly so.

However, I don't see 'us' societally making any stance in regard to what we expect of our Justice system. ..

Heading for elections up here so both major parties will be passing the buck. And who looks after the children in the mean time? Our state has a disgusting history of child abuse.

What About the very sad story in weekend paper of Bonny, a Foster Mum, who (it seems) cared too much, loved too much & gave too much - ultimately. I know a young child who was taken as an emergency into her care; recounts of that time are all good, Bonny & the whole tribe even came for a birthday visit at the new home..

IMO, if we want to fix our societal values we must start at the beginning.
How is it that 'right of care' decisions over our children are determined by a *DOCS dept that is dishonest to its existence, and is so badly in need of an overhaul - wonder if Pauline is up for it ?

* this isn't applicable only to QLD in my opinion.

Of course she isn’t. She’s about fear, not infrastructure imo

Someone who will fight to make a difference IMO is Hetty Johnston. ... has been a massive advocate for the safety of our kids for years (driven by a 'close' encounter) She is now standing as an Independent in this QLD election ... Not my electorate so I won't have a Say, but I do so hope we get some people in positions of power who are actually about what is Real, as opposed to the $, the prestige, the perks .. etc. . Just sharing some personal thoughts ...

Finaly things are moving

From Courier Mail

TIAHLEIGH Palmer’s foster father has been indicted in the Supreme Court on a murder charge, bringing the case closer to a possible trial.

Rick Thorburn is accused of killing 12-year-old Tialeigh at Chambers Flat in October, 2015 - allegedly to protect his teenage son from prosecution for having sex with the underage schoolgirl.
The Crown presented an indictment for murder and interfering with a corpse at a brief hearing this morning.

The case was adjourned for review to February 16.
Thorburn has not entered a plea to the charges and remains in custody.
His wife, Julene, was sentenced to 18 months in jail earlier this month for perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice after she lied to authorities about Tiahleigh’s death.
The pair’s two sons, Trent and Josh, have also been sentenced to jail.
Trent Thorburn was sentenced to four years in jail on incest and perjury charges, and Josh received a 15-month sentence for perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

I believe Trent is due for release in a few days time. Sentence will be suspended . Will be tough for Tia's family. Rick hopefully will have justice served soon

[FONT=&quot]The foster brother of slain schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer has been released on parole after spending 16 months in custody on incest and perjury charges.
Trent Thorburn was released from prison in Brisbane on Friday morning, having spent 12 months in custody before being sentenced to four years jail in September.
He pleaded guilty to having sex with the 12-year-old girl and lying to the crime and corruption commission.
His father Rick Thorburn is awaiting trial for Tiahleigh's murder, while brother Josh and mother Julene were spared jail time after pleading guilty to perjury charges last year.
Tiahleigh's body was found on the banks of the Gold Coast's Pimpama River in November 2015 and police swooped on her foster family the following September.
Her mother Cyndi Palmer has criticised the sentences handed out to the family and on Friday hit out at Trent's release.
"I have confirmation, Trent Thorburn was released from prison this morning on parole after serving the rest of his s....y sentence!!" She wrote on Facebook, alongside the hashtag #nojusticehere
