I can not figure out why he would remove flowers from her grave. That makes no sense.

I saw her sister and father with Matt Lauer and the sister said before they were married she went out for pizza with them and Gabe became angry and threw pizza at Tina.

Here is a direct link to the article on the flowers. Her family started chaining down the flowers AFTER they were disappearing. So the explanation regarding the cemetary rules falls flat with me. As the flowers were taken BEFORE they were chained down.

A Helena police officer told an Australian coroner's inquest that he filmed the husband of a woman who drowned while on their honeymoon as he used bolt cutters to remove flowers from her grave.
Sgt. Brad Flynn, the lead American investigator into the cause of the Oct. 22, 2003, Australian drowning death of Christina "Tina" Thomas Watson, testified via video link Wednesday night.

Watson's parents, Tommy and Cindy Thomas, filed theft reports in the fall of 2005, stating that flowers and gifts were continually disappearing from their daughter's grave at a Pelham cemetery, even after they began bolting them to the ground, Flynn said.
"We communicated this to the Queensland police, who were investigating Tina's death, and we decided to set up surveillance," Flynn said. "The tape showed Gabe Watson taking cutters from his vehicle and cutting the bolt."
But one of Gabe Watson's American attorneys, Bob Austin, said his client's actions were nothing more than adhering to cemetery regulations.
"The rules at the cemetery are that no permanent fixture can be placed on a grave site, and this was a steel rod and chain hooked to plastic flowers," Austin said.

According to SuzieQ's article link not only did he remove flowers from her burial site, he had the casket moved to another plot within the same cemetary. As Fran posted, it's about the "control". He is a narcissist. Classic example.

Tina was buried in a family plot purchased by her family prior to her death, and Gabe said, "he wanted it moved to his families plot so they could all be together".

If I were her family, I would be moving the court to reverse the marriage, as he's her killer and had full intentions on murdering her for profit. He doesn't need to be considered her legal husband, thus giving him all the rights, this needs to be changed. Shame on him. Yuck, he's so gross.

Here is the article about the Grave Wars. Notice the explanation that she was moved so family could be buried around her. In her original spot that was arrainged for both sides of the family. In her new spot it's not possible as there are no plots available. I wonder what discussion took place between the cemetary and Gabe and what reason he gave them for the move?

Also, after seeing Gabe and his mom in the interview video, I'm very interested in that family's dynamics and what behavior his family has displayed throughout this.

It is about control. This guy is a murdering idiot. Do they have him in custody yet? I hope that he rots in prison. The control and punishment is for Tina's family (father, in particular). After all, Tina's father outsmarted Gabe by telling Tina to hold off on increasing the insurance and changing the beneficiary until she returned from the trip. You know that Gabe has to be enraged with Tommy Thompson, who foiled his plan.

I heard (on NG) last night that Gabe is in the midst of a court battle with the travel insurance agency for money. I hope that the travel agency has refused a payout to him. I don't want one dollar going to this idiot.

Ok, now we know why they were in the bear hug. That not only was when he allegedly turned off her air, he was making sure she couldn't reach the button to her bouyancy (sp?) control vest, which IF used, would have immediately shot them both up to the surface.

That, IMO, makes what happened even more sinister. As a new diver, she was most likely aware of this safety feature, and if she'd been conscious when she went down, all she had to do was push that button.

It's no wonder, with what has already been mentioned and this, that LE believes it's murder. The more I look, the guiltier he looks.

I think that she would have been very aware of the vest inflator, especially as a tentative, new diver. However, if he shut off her oxygen tank, she couldn't use that button to pull air from the tank to inflate the vest. So, he bear hugs her, turns off her oxygen, when she is unconscious from lack of air, he turns it back on and lets her sink to the bottom as he moseys up to the top.

There is no way that this isn't premeditated murder. He is an experienced diver. He would know full well what to do in this case. Let's say that she panicked and was pulling at his mask. You can see underwater without your mask, especially in an emergency. He is much bigger than she. He could have at the very least inflated her vest for her, which would have taken her to the top.

She would not have panicked had he given her oxygen. Sorry, think about it. You panic when you don't have oxygen. You are not going to fight your oxygen source (him) if he is willingly sharing it with you. You are going to fight and struggle if he refuses to help you. He refused her oxygen after he shut off her tank. She panicked. She could not inflate her vest. He didn't have enough oxygen in her lungs to manually inflate her vest. She panicked. Of course, in hindsight, if she could have figured out a way to drop her tank and weights, she may have made it to the top; however, it was his intent to murder her. He would have overpowered her and not allowed it. She was doomed any way that you look at it.

The ring episode was over the top -- the more I think of it, the more I think he's a sadist -- it's almost like he enjoys emotionally abusing people (e.g. the flower removal at the grave).

I just watched this woman's father and sister on NG tonite. Later on I'll link to the transcript (after they put it up).

I came here to comment about the husband's phone calls to his wife whenever she was with someone else, ie family. He would call and call and cal and call until she answered. AND then, no one had better talk to her while he was on the phone because he'd get mad and hang up!

Knowing someone who was in an abusive relationship, I can tell you for a fact this is one of the classic symptoms of an abuser. They do NOT want to share you, your attention, with anyone, most especially your family. I also believe one of the reasons they keep calling is to be sure you don't have time to tell them 'what goes on behind closed doors.' Oh...My...Gosh!!!! My friend's mom thought it was so cute he couldn't be away from her for very long without talking to her......................UNTIL she found out the real deal!! UGH!!

Now, I hadn't been to this thread for a while, and I had NOT heard about him moving her casket! I'm appalled!!!! What the heck!?

I had read that he dropped the suit, right after a SW was served for his residence and I believe computer etc. The only problem with that is he had already done a deposition and the contents of that was used in court to show his inconsistant statements.

The last I heard he hadn't been arrested, just a warrant for his arrest. From what I understand he's not going to go willingly back to Australia so they're going to have to extradite him.
