Australia- Two sisters in their 20s found dead inside Sydney unit had been there lengthy time, Suspicious deaths, June 2022

The CO theory would be a freak/rare event in a newer building like this. All of the cases that I am aware of have been older homes with old heaters- not modern ducted heating which these apartments would have

It depends if they were using any gas appliance whatsoever. In new buildings each apartment is separate and doesn't share ducting / venting with any other homes for fire prevention and smoke spread prevention.

I live in the UK and am aware of the legislation and regulations but imagine that regulations are far better applied in Australia. However, most new places have no gas supply or appliances at all. For example, my home is a 10 years old block not dissimilar to this one in question (thankfully without cladding) and we have no gas supply in any of the thousands of new apartments in my area. Our heating for the whole area, about quarter of a mile square, is supplied by way of hot water which is made in a remote building and circulated by hot water pipes that supply the hot taps / radiator / underfloor heating.

I would want to see evidence of them buying chemicals (transactions/receipts/cctv) or researching methods on their phones to back up the suicide theory. So far, I feel the opposite that there is no evidence of suicide other than the fact they are both dead. Girls don't get to leave SA and live independently without punishment if they are caught. SA govt don't like the idea of women getting out, and the SA govt has a reputation for murdering individuals who wrong them or embarrass them.

Saudi Kingdom Tries To Prevent More Women From Fleeing

I would assume the most important thing is for the SA is to show the Saudi world that there are no success stories among female Saudi refugees. That the Western world is cold and unaccepting, and having left your own community, religion and culture, you can not return.

From this standpoint, sadly, the story of the Alsehli sisters is the godsend to SA, regardless of what happened IRL. The fact that the sisters were found a month later - no evidence left, and mostly, no one cared, no friends to raise concern, only she sheriff came to evict - is very sad. I think there was a well-planned operation, first, to isolate, then, to kill, then to spread some lies in our mainstream media - and it does serve SA well. But maybe they committed suicide, when left penniless, which was also SA’s doing.

I have recently returned from UK and yes our buildings are completely different. Ducted units individually controlled and usually installed in a cavity. I have never heard of these leaking. Ours here all have to have gas if built after a certain date.

To be lying dead for so long and nobody to even notice you’re gone - can you imagine? It’s more common in elderly people I think - e.g. last of their family alive or lost contact over the years, no modern technology. These were young women - surely they had mobile phones? Text messages? Email? Social media? Bank accounts with transactions? The police must know. There must be a lot more that they know that we don’t.

Geez google maps is creepy! Is this their car-same model and same wheels? Is this where they were parking illegally and the supposed reason why the car was keyed?
The last google maps photo of the Canterbury rd side of the building was taken in May 2022. This link showing the car parked at the servo is dated Dec 2018
But didn’t they live at the previous place (Fremont? I might be mistaken) and moved only in 2019? Did they visit this area prior, and moved for a reason, perhaps?

It is very easy to survive in Aust penniless, we have lots of options, even if you do not have an appropriate visa you could easily still work illegally and get away with it for a while. There were reports they worked in traffic control, this is very well paid, at around $50 per hour usually, they would only need 1 shift a week each to scrape by to cover rent, food and utilities. I don't think our govt would ever accuse SA even if they were involved, it would be too dangerous to our country.

Their phones would tell an interesting story regardless, search history, WhatsApp, banking apps, camera roll etc. They may have been active on forums etc.

On my way back from close to Sydney CBD this evening, in the darkness, I drove (car) along Canterbury Road, past the deceased sisters Canterbury Building on the same side of the road as it (from East to West). Friday rush hour traffic was heavy.

As I passed the street corner that there unit was over, their apartment block is so close to the road, that the concrete slab? overhang above the ground floor Stax On Burgers completely obscures the appartments above.

I recall there being some controversy for at least one of the newer appartments buildings on Canterbury Road around there being built much closer to the road than is normally approved by Council. It might have been the ones we are discussing here.

This block of appartments when first built were marketed as

Here's the Google Street View view of the building from the BP side of the building showing the overhang.

That overhanging concrete plinth, I don't know how long it stretches but basically anyone could get on it and walk along I assume?

I thought "traffic control" is only conducted by police officers (traffic and road police), not by some random people.

In my country I only saw police officers directing traffic.

I case of road works, there are warning signs with arrows showing detours.

I wonder if bleach in huge amounts would mask the smell very well. For the smell not to seep into the hallway from under their front door, it must have.

Could they have been denied the right to work legally if their visa applications or residency status has been declined?

Oh no, here it is a low skilled job, we have traffic control for mostly construction and road works, police don't do this here. Police only would do it if there was a traffic light out of action or something. We see traffic controllers everywhere daily on our commutes around the suburbs and the city. It is a low entry barrier job, but well paid.

It is super easy to survive anywhere penniless if you are used to it. If you never did, pride might not allow you to.
I wanted to ask, “what country would it be dangerous for to break relationships with SA? Is it AU or US that you mean?” And then thought, stupid me! AU, US, even Turkey as Jamal Khashoggi’s death demonstrated, everyone is SA’s friend.

Oh well in that case, carbon monoxide is high up on the list of risk factors.

If the heating was running, it's possible the flat became excessively hot too before they were found?

It will be very interesting to know their status.

It would be! If they died with the heater on, it would be very hot. If we forget to turn our ducted heater off before going to sleep we have to get up during the night to turn it off as it gets so hot. And it was cold in May.
Carbon monoxide testing in rental properties became mandatory in NSW in March 2020. It has to be done every two years.

The heating must have passed the test in 2020- it would be very unlikely to fail less than 2 years later. It was also very likely it was tested before they died anyway as it would have been overdue for a test by May. The PM would have these records, in my property this is all outsourced to a third party company that the PM uses. It's standard practise and the PM would not have been able to not have the testing done. I think this is the most unlikely cause. I have never heard of poisoning occurring in newer homes or apartments in Austalia. It is usually heaters like this in old houses that are faulty and leak carbon monoxide

I think it is too risky for AU govt to upset the SA govt. They are not a country our country would want to upset imo

It will be very interesting to know their status.
Both the status as at
- the estimated date of deaths
- the date their body was reported first discovered

It would be ironic, if we eventually hear that their asylum case was on track to being approved, but was deferred for a possible new Australian Federal Government Home Affairs/Immigration Minister/Department to make, until after the 21st May 2022 Federal Election, and the new Federal Government Ministers responsible were sworn in.

As long as our technology is oil-dependent, SA will be everyone’s friend.

But they are easing things for women, no?
Traditions and customs take decades to change.

I believe young generation will force the changes.
